Take the already big, brash and ungainly G-Wagen that is already uncool IMO, and garnish it with a load of chintzy, show-offy nonsense it never needed, and voila you have the Maybach edit.

As @AudiMan2011 points out, it's just a big stupid tool, for the stinking rich to use to flaunt their status.

Though it does have good off-road capability, it may be the most pointless vehicle of the 2010s; it was the response to a question that was never posed. It is the type of vehicle bought by folks who have much more money than taste, such as wealthy celebrities, rappers, and Arab oil moguls, none of which are cool people.

I love this. Much more of a Maybach than he glorified S-Classes have been.
 
This is repulsive. Thing is...you can have more fun with a thirty year old one because you don't have to worry about breaking the bank, nor do you have to worry about your insane set of chrome wheels.

The irony of this thing to me is that for something so expensive, the roof only looks slightly better than the one Top Gear cobbled together for their convertible Espace.

Any modern G Wagon for me are the most dubai-ish cars you could get.

This one is just much worse.
 
This thing is just so pointless.

It has very high ground clearance thanks to it's polar axles so it would be good offroad, but the fender flares are made of carbon fibre and you wouldn't want to get those damaged.

It has a V12 with over 600 horses so it should be fast right? Well less so when it weighs over 3 bloody tonnes.

I mean, it's kind of cool that it has a convertible roof, until you realise that it makes the thing look absolutely stupid.

But hey, thanks to it's exorbitant price tag, no-one is going to use this for any sort of useful purpose other than showing off and riding around in the back, but then again there are other cars that do those things so much better.

I admit, the G-Wagen has presence. I actually used to like them. But unlike other boxy cars such as the Land Rover Defender and Jeep Wrangler, it has no charm whatsoever. It doesn't even look good in a menacing way like other G-Wagens.

An honest, pre-2000s Gelandewagen is a wonderful sight to behold. Anything since, including the really distasteful 4x4squared effort and the 6x6 are wilfully garish. That they managed to top it with this Maybach version is quite something.

Seriously, is Maybach ever going to be something truly bespoke? Until it does, it'll never reach the level Rolls Royce occupies.
