From wikipedia:

Randall 401-XR

Randall AMC dealership in Mesa, Arizona received AMC's endorsement to build 401 cu in (6.6 L) V8 powered Gremlins. The cars started out as 304 V8 models from the factory and after Randall's modifications would run 13.90's at 103-106 miles per hour (171 km/h) in the quarter mile, for $2,995 (US$14,802 in 2011dollars[11]). Known as the Randall 401-XR (X for Gremlin X, R for Randall), a total of twenty cars were built for the street and one for the strip during 1972, 1973, and 1974.[36] Car Craft magazine tested one with some modifications and achieved 115.07 miles per hour (185 km/h) in 12.22 seconds while still remaining a "totally streetable, daily-driver".[37]

That'd be a dealership special, then, same as the Yenko Camaros, Chevelles, Novas, and Corvairs, not TECHNICALLY an official model.

Doesn't explode when rear-ended. Seriously uncool.

This has to be the most dramatic, polarized poll so far. It's freaking symmetrical!

EDIT: Dammit. :grumpy:

Garth and Wayne raise it up to a "Meh" for me.
:dopey: One of my most favorite scenes from my childhood take place in a Pacer.

I voted cool, I like the style. I even have a remote control Pacer. 👍

Definitely one of the coolest cars EVER!👍👍 If I win the lottery I'd drive one. I think it's an amazingly cool design - it shows a eccentric sense of individualism that most other cars can't even come close to! I wish we could go back to the days of truly adventurous and independent automotive styling... despite the mediocre-at-best mechanical underneath it still deserves kudos for the boldness of the concept and the fact that AMC actually executed it right for the most part...

I don't know how, but the Pacer, to me, is one of those rare cars that holds interest far, far beyond what the 'on-paper' appearance of it suggests it should. I suppose that alone makes it incredibly cool!

One of my favorite movie scenes as well.:lol:👍

Doesn't look like quite enough minds have crawled over to make it Sub-Zero. What a conflicting poll :boggled:

I, myself, know nothing about AMC being a Brit...:lol: Just voted meh. Apparently though it seems quite odd, according to everyone here. :boggled:

Massive and under powered hatch back. Seriously uncool without even mentioning it's 'styling'

The pacer was a villain in Cars 2.

Villains = Cool.

AND, Time magazine voted the Pacer as one of the top 50 worst cars of all time... which also makes it cool.

Yup I'm British too, therefore my only real exposure to this was as the Mirth-mobile from Waynes World... therefore I'll use my rule about How I'd react if a mate bought one to judge, and if a mate bought one, I'd say it was sub-zero, then we'd take a ride with Queen...
