Great performer (as always) but with the body of a porn star with that trunk bulge, headlamps, overall styling.

Plus BMW's have become a fashion statement for stock brokers and bankers. Like abercrombie, people don't buy them to drive the ultimate driving machine, but rather to HAVE the ultimate driving machine

One of the best cars ever to roll out of Munich in my opinion. There is nothing I dislike about this car (except maybe that I can't afford one!).

More athletic in both looks and performance than the E39, undeniably very fast.

However, I dislike the tourer, and the fact that they dumbed it down and built a worse car by fitting the manual transmission.

BMW 500hp 200mph saloon...
Sub-zero, no question.

Personally I think the E60 looks fantastic. I recall disliking it to begin with, but I reckon it's the one Bangle design that's weathered well. I'd compare it to the Mk1 Focus if I wasn't worried someone would hit me for saying it. And I don't think it needed replacing with something that's the aesthetic equivalent of a Next suit, but fair be it from me to criticise the Bavarians - that's what the X6 is here for.

But the M5? Mmmmnot sure. It's not quite in the price range of the average Currys regional manager just yet, and manages to escape most of Chester UTD's members... But it's overcomplicated. And it's never really moved me for some reason. I'll sleep on it.

-> The 6-speed is only available in the US. That would be a future collectable, if not the most sought-after model in Europe.

I meant by 6spd only option as in that is the only transmission available. :D

Uncool. It has great performance, but it's all hidden under layers of nannies and safety features, and if you drive it in sporty manner, you will be replacing that fancy diff within a month. Only thing that saves this car from seriously uncool is that it comes as a wagon and can be had with a manual at least somewhere in the world..

Uhmmm... you can turn the nannies completely off in the M5... completely. Not "oh, it's off but if we detect you're having fun, it'll go on again" as in other cars.

The diff... don't know about that... the local BMW has a high mileage tester that's seen a lot of stunt-driving action. Diff's okay, though the brakes are understandably in terrible shape. From a skimming of owners comments... diff failure is possible, as it is on many 500+ hp cars, but the stock unit holds up pretty well, and it takes a lot of abuse or a lot of miles in traffic to cause drivetrain problems.

I don't know which way to vote with this. It's mainly that every time I look at this I think back to the comparo Jezza did with the M5 and the XFR and I keep thinking "I would much prefer the Jaaaaaaaaaaag".

But those angel eye headlights and the way that it overall looks...I'm going to go with a cool for this one.

I let the master speak on this one (Sub-Zero, watch the video all the way)

Top Gear M5 review:

Yes it doesnt like round town driving the gearbox isn't smooth, but its all about the M button - for everyone who doesnt love this car they've never pressed it, if you havnt pressed it you havn't lived! :scared::crazy:
