What? How did the vr6 go into the vr6?

VR6 was both engine and trim level.

In Europe, the GTi was a petrol 2.0 8v and 16v (with some places getting a TDi too). The VR6 was a VR6.

Ohh, So it would be called what? A VW VR6? No gti or golf in the name? Im sorry im not trying be be a pain I am just interested.👍

Its not the best car to pick to represent the GTI badge name... I vote it Cool - Meh. but thats only because its brothers and such are really nice.

I'm gonna go with 'meh.' It's not terribly fast or good looking, but it's not horrible.

We have two very different cars here

GTI 2.0
Is it beautiful? It's OK
Does it make sense (practical, gives what promised, costs accordingly)? No
Do I want it? No
Would I buy it? Maybe
Do I fit in it? Yes.
uncool

Cool

In the average: Meh

Only one - the 306. Also used by Ford, Nissan and Rover.

Peugeot mainly do too - 205, 206, 207, 309 were all GTI rather than GTi. But I don't really care that much.

Along with the 306, the 206 was GTi.

But no VW was ever GTi.

Just trying to offer a little correction.

I don’t get it, the Zx2 is a 4 cylinder vs. the Mk. III GTI VR6 which is a V6. Yet, the ZX2 is just as fast in 0-60. The condenses is that the GTI is bland styling wise and in my opinion the ZX2 is a nice looking car. Yet the GTI is teetering between cool and uncool leaning towards uncool. The ZX2 however is definitely going to be seriously uncool. I just don’t get it?

Has little to nothing to do with performance?

*VW Guy Walks In*

The problem is that VW did absolutely little to the standard Golf to make it a GTI in this instance. People complain about the dilution of a badge all the time, this is by far one of the best examples of it. The simple fact that a non-GTI/GLI car made by VW was vastly superior than (what is supposed to be) their top-tier GTI is absolutely absurd. The car was bland, boring, and entirely un-GTI. Especially with the MKII that came before it was so awesome.
