I suggest text chat, not because I think it is better than voice.

I suggest text chat because I honestly don't think PD have the technology to do voice chat, when simple things like text is somthing that they don't even include in an online capable game in 2008.

Even a yahoo bridge game have text chat FFS.

I don't think PD need the technology to do voice chat. I would expect that to be a function provided by Sony over the PSN.

At the moment the only thing PD do online is gather the inital players together then select which player is to be the host. This host then takes over the online game play.

Wait a second here, how do you expect them to implement text chat with the online mode in its current state? You would barely have 30 seconds to chat when you join and when the race finishes.

If you are meaning when they bring in private rooms though....how do you know they aren't going to give us text chat and/or voice chat?

But whatever, this thread is about helping communicating with what we've got, not a "wah wah, PD give us this!" thread.

Keyboard pluged in of course?
Just type during race and It pops up

Wait ive noticed some problems to my idea

I do however hope they have front lights the you can blink on and off that would be cool.

NEEDED. not everyone will have a headset. some people wouldnt want them. great way to let someone know youre there.

Text chat is not something that should be anything special to a game that is capable of online, this is something that should be in the game to begin with. It is like a door handle to a door.

I am sorry, you don't know how the "text chat" work in PC race sims. Either you've never play one or you haven't been play one for a long time. I am not going to go into how PC sims do "text chat", if you want to know more go find out yourself.

It is not something new to a racing game/sim. There are ways to get around typing "text messages" while racing and has been in every PC sims. You don't even need to own a PC race sim to see how it works, just go download some race sim demo.

Have you ever used speed dial on a phone? ;)

Key word here...this isnt a PC game, good luck using text chat with a sixaxis while you're playing a game or even with a Steering wheel.
No, I dont play PC race sims, but I dont see PC games as a good example anyway, seeing as the control setup is a lot different and not everyone has a USB keyboard to handily stick into their PS3.
