GTP-DTM Season 3: Round 3 - Apricot Hill (38 Laps)

Another great race done by the GTP-DTM drivers last weekend at twisty Trial Mountain course, but now we head to a higher speed race track, Apricot Hill Raceway. Another very scenic race course surrounded by lush green hills and shrubbery, a race course with some long, sweeping corners and long straightaways provide a new challenge to the DTM drivers. Your qualifying + race times must be sent to me by Sunday, April 20 at 23:59 EST (GMT -5) or 6:59 GMT.

Looks like I will be mid-pack again this week. I just can't get this track down well. and the way I drive, it EATS through tires too fast. Good luck everyone.
 
You know what I'm sick of? Racing against rally AI that can't stay on the damn road. Just was having the run of a lifetime (always happens in SGT 300 too) on Apricott Hill and just before the long left-hander the Delta S4 careens out of control, hitting both left and right barriers and bounces right in front of me spinning me out and, of course, penalizing me. Delta S4, Peugeot 205 and 205 Turbo at +3 AI. Guess I'll have to do +10 just to ensure I get road specific AI.

I think I've restarted this race about 4 times today and still haven't been able to finish, DTP's are unnacceptable, all because of the stupid AI.

@ TS: K-Klasse times will be coming tomarrow and M-Klasse times will be coming next weekend. Thought I'd leave you on notice.

I usually do most of my passing at the start of the race, and I find that if I can get the very inside line going in to turns 1 and 2 I can go from 6th to 3rd quite easily, then I'm usually able to pick the rest off coming on to the dunlop straightaway or by outbrakeing them into the hairpin. From there it's been smooth sailing, although I haven't documented anything as of yet, it's all practice runs

TS I was lapping this joker when he/it lost it. I too try to pass as soon as possible but there's nothing I can do when the AI can't keep it on the road. I actually ran a +5 AI event and got all JGTC cars without any incident.
 
I believe a higher AI setting will give you a field with fewer or no Rally cars. But if you set it too high, you might finish the race at least 1 lap behind the front runner. I speak of that because I first raced this round in the K-Klasse at +10 and I finished at least a lap behind the leader.
 
That's strange...
I am running my races ALWAYS with A.I. set to +9-10 and they are on softer tyres.
So I can be sure that they will not brake too early before the corners and will not loose the control of the car until their tyres aren't too worn.

I did the M-Klasse race yesterday at +5, I struggled to stay on the lead lap after the 2nd cycle of pit stops when I switched to Hard/Medium tire combo.

Well, I just finished a K-Klasse race with the AI at +8 and was able to finish on the lead lap.;)👍 Now I don't know if anyone in the K-Klasse has come across it yet, but there are 2 cars you better exercise extreme caution around as you do your races...

These two cars have a tendency to go too fast into the turns and slide off into the walls or spin out in front of you making them potential Drive-Thru-Penalty-inducing sitting ducks.:crazy:
 
Times sent. Had fun with this one.. Deliberately dumbed down the AI to about -5 but gave them sticky tyres. They weren't too much of a problem when I moved to a harder tyre I wasn't lapping them as often I just had to be aware where they were on the track so i was ready if they stuffed up.. :p

EDIT: Totals for K class season seem to be off.
