Actually finish people tend to learn better car control due to them being so passionate at motorsport. Also their driving test includes skid control and other things that the rest od the world relax.

Not exactly pivotal, but it helps for sure. It only helps with independent things though.

Another example would the British drivers in F1 being good in the wet. I agree with Martin Brundle's theory in the fact that I think that's thanks to their British upcoming through the ranks, spending a lot of time in wet conditions, and the fact JB's dad wouldn't let him buy rain tyres lol :)

Go karting on slicks in the wet is so much fun... especially when testing on an open track... Ken Block has nothing on me :D

Most F1 drivers are German. Very few of the worlds greatest racing drivers are Finnish. Miko Hirvonnen and Jari-Mari Lattvala are the only two top end WRC drivers I can think of. And yet Loeb, a Frenchman, beats them loads.

I think that thing about Finnish people and car control is slipping away now. Just like England and football.

Actually oval tracks are very popular in North America because when the car started to become commonplace, there were already tons of horse racing tracks all around the US. They were converted into tracks that cars could race on first with wooden planks, then they were more commonly paved later on,

European motor racing is predisposed to twisty circuits because it started out with races held on the twisty roads of the continent.

Now, let's get back to that discussion about nationality vs. intrinsic driving talent where we all pull non-facts out of our a**es that make no sense, really :dopey:

I had some great overtaking braking into the chicane, would probably be good video... Also lots of off roading to go along with it.

That's not really relevant. Finland has many less people so let me explain.

I'm gunna take all champions from the past 12 years years of F1, MotoGP, IndyCar, WTCC, Le Mans and WRC.

Finland has 4 champions - Kimi Raikkonen, Mika Hakkinen, Marcus Gronholm and J.J Lehto. In a country of 5.3 million people that's 1 motorsport champion every 1.325 million people which is staggering.

Germany meanwhile, just as an example as you say they are great, has 6 champions - Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Frank Biela, Marco Werner, Timo Bernhard and Mike Rockenfeller. Impressive but that's from the 81.8 million population Germany, about 16 times bigger than finlands. So that's about 1 champion every 13.6 million people. A lot lot less chance as you may say. Get the point? :)

If Finland was as big as Germany, technically speaking, they would have roughly 64 motorsport champions over the last 12 years lol :)

Denmark's popultaion is 5.5 mil people (only 90.5% are Danish though!), meaning 4.97 mil Danes :)

We have been European champions of football once (1992, the year I was born, yiha) and England, the nation who invented football, have won one world championship in 1966 thanks to an incorrect judgement from the linesman in the finale. Does that make us a better footballing nation? (Truth to be told, we didn't qualify, but we got Jugoslavia's spot, they had civil war).

Morale of the story: If you are not prepared you are better, tell Capello guys, lol.

Finland is better in percentage, but not better overall. Do you even know if there are any big Finnish talents? I don't ever see them in the lower series, so we can consider the Finnish drivers now the "Golden Generation".

We will have to wait and see.

But your right it doesn't prove everything. I was just proving to golfer that just because there isn't many of them doesn't mean the Finnish racing drivers are 'slipping away now' as he so kindly puts it.

I mean if you went by those statistics for everything, Denmark would be the 4th best driving nation on earth with one champion in the past 12 years making a champion for every 5.5 million (or 4.97 whatever) lol. UK would be 5th behind the Danes (:scared:) at one champion every 7.7 million people. And USA would be 13th with one champion every 153.5 million people :D

I said the idea about "If you want to win, hire a Finn" is slipping away. And why is it that you try to prove my point wrong but when bombe says pretty much the same thing, you just say "we will wait and see"

I'm all out survival mode this Saturday.... just gonna try and beat tiss.... I'm struggling with the handling here bigtime
 
Practice makes perfect. I really like Suzuka, nice track, fast and technical, plus very unforgiving.
 
Yeah Suzuka is really a pleasure to drive for me, no matter what the car. I'm going to try and construct a makeshift setup for my ps3 and monitor so I can race this one (no desk delivered until the 19th). This LMP season is the one where I was in the middle of moving from the US to Canada, lol.
