I now have a MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/jameshassall

I've just got OLD little guitar jams on there at the moment, I need to record new stuff so bad... I've gotten a lot better since 2001!

Let me know what you think of the site guys, and be sure to check out my friends bands The Basics and Spargo and Simon Imrei, they are all really really talented. :D

Really cool stuff, James. 👍 Matt was talking about some songs of yours and I was interested on it, now I finally could listen to them. :)

Make sure to tell us when you got some new songs recorded.

Thanks, we should have a full song out of that in a week or two. The hardest part is finding time to write with friends. :indiff: For all my recordings, I play through GuitarPort and record with Adobe Audition 1.5.

The first name that came to mind when I started listening to your file was Van Halen. Very Van Halen-ish, while seeming quite random at times. :odd: But still cool. You've probably mentioned it before, but how long have you been playing for?

It was just a testnoodle to see how the recording would sound, so the clip is completely random playing (noodling) with a bunch of different sounds and playing styles to see how it all sounds. Fanning, natural, artificial, tapped, sliding, pinched harmonics (some I missed, heh), Chords, muted notes, dive bombs, etc. I ran the gambit, and that's why the clip is so rambling.

I've been playing for about 23-25 years. Though, I'm not as good as I used to be. I don't nearly play as much as I once did. I used to play for several hours a day. Now, I'll be lucky if I play five hours a month.

OK, here is our first "full" song that we've recorded thus far. I say "full" because this recording is littered with errors - minor errors - but errors nonetheless. I was going to wait until we re-recorded every part perfectly before I posted it, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon. When we recorded this, there was no time to fully write solos, so they're all first/second tries. And the one part you'll really notice that wasn't recorded "perfect" is the riff that starts 5 seconds in. My buddy couldn't get it down 4 times in a row, so he just played it decently once and looped it 4 times, hah. As for the drums, apparently our drummer isn't aware of tempo changes. Anyways, give it a listen and let me know what you think. And by the way, my buddy is lead for this song, I'm rhythm.

Wow. That site had some serious threats to my computer. MSN, SpyWatch and SafeAlert all shut that website down simultaneously. I've never seen that happen before.

Im always willing to give other peoples music a lister no matter what it is.

Not too bad, what did you make it in? sounds like garage band.

Really?

It was made in sonar 5, all parts written myself, no garage band style samples!

It is alot more cheesy than my other music though and the horn sounds are not all that great unfortunately, but I've never had a horn section to play with so I had to make do with with a preset from Sampltank.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my tune dude!

@adlyco: although it's not my style, it's very well done. 👍

@spock: I like that, really nice.

Here's what I'm currently working on.

It's called Asbestos, and is inspired by a weird advertising video from the 50s / 60s I stumbled upon. The guitar samples are by yours truly, and most sounds for the drums and synths are from Propellerheads Reason 3.0 soundbank while the bassline is a simple analog synth (subtractor in reason). Only the guitar and vocals are played as samples, and the vocals were slighty edited in CoolEdit Pro, but 99% of it is made in Reason.

It's a work in progress, so it lacks a bit of variation and it could be better structured. I also have no clue if it sounds good on decent headphones, my Sennheisers are broken. :(

On a sidenote, It's a shame most of the links in that thread are not working anymore... :indiff:

Cheers for the reply carl. I like your tune, its got a nice atmospheric quality to it which works nicely, as does the cool pumping compression effect. I think the tune will be sweet when you put some more variation and maybe bring the guitars forward a bit to drive the melodic side along a bit more. Apart from that, top stuff 👍

Spock, your tun is cool too, reminds me of Autechre!

Carl thats sounds great, Im also a reason user, but it also use other small bit of software for various other things, but reason is the main prog I use.

here is my new site thatnks to Dj Spok ;) LINK

Time to re-open this grave! :D

I've posted some of my songs to my MySpace page:

http://www.myspace.com/kylehnat

These are the first four songs I've recorded for my "album", due out in stores never, and quite possibly never to be completed at all. The album title "Raidillon" is named after the eponymous corner at Spa-Francorchamps, a blind crest at the top of Eau Rouge, taken at 175 mph. It reflects my approach to music, which is that I have no clue what I'm doing, or where I'm going.

All guitar and bass tracks are played by me, recorded through my computer's underwhelming soundcard, routed through my Boss OS-2 pedal to reduce noise. Drum tracks are created with FL Studio 5, and then reduced in volume to mask the fact that I have no idea how drummers actually play. Everything is then assembled and mixed in Cakewalk Guitar Studio.

I have a few other songs in the works, which I hope to finish soon (One has been on my computer, unfinished, for over a year.)
