GTP Premium, What do you want in it?

Enough e-mail address'? At last count, I had 9. One more I don't particularly need.

So if that's about what we've come up with:

More attachment space. 50mb
40 KB, 100x100 Avatar size
500 PM limit
profile pictures
no ads
image limited to 200k

How does this sound for prices?
$10 a month
$25 for 3 months
$50 for 6 months
$85 for a year
$300 for a life time subscription?

These are simply my numbers applied to the thoughts above. What I'm really seeing up there, is that everyone would shell out money for a few simple improvements.

Again, these are my guesses at what the numbers would be and are certain to be revised.

Thoughts? Questions, answers, improvements?

I suppose if you had an @gtplanet.net e-mail there could be security issues. Somebody could impersonate themselves as being Jordan and wreck havoc, highly unlikely but possible.

My Suggestions~

A private forum for the subscribers, just for the sake of it & the ability to preview new features/updates before they happen?

Jordan
- No advertisements on forum pages
- 110x110 avatars, 30 KB limit
- 500 PM Limit
- 50 MB of attachments
- Profile Pictures (an ability to upload a picture of yourself to appear in your profile)

I don't get it - would people really pay money to get marginally better performance from GTP? A picture of myself in my profile (I could just put me in my avatar, or a put a link in my signature), a larger PM limit (as if cleaning them out is so hard), slightly larger avatars, more attachment space - that's worth money? Give it something else, Jordan, and I'll pay gladly - but right now, I'm not seeing anything worth anything here.

Has anyone thought about what would happen if a paying GTPremium subscriber were to be banned?

Would you reimburse a banned GTPremium subscriber? How much - would it be proportional to the amount of time they've got left on their subscription? How about suspensions - would you give them three days worth of money back if they were banned for three days? Or would you say "Break the rules and lose your money" - perhaps that would open you - or whoever banned the member - up to a lawsuit. It looks like a very tricky area to me.

You certainly shouldn't be able to buy into a banning-exemption.

Thats an interesting thought Famine. I would gladly pay for these thing except I have no money and no way of paying.

I think, if you're a paying member, it's highly unlikely (not impossible though) that
you're not here to cause havoc.. Like the difference between driving a company car (free) and your own (paid)..

I would like to hear what you REALLY WANT, not what you think is possible.

Don't be afraid to share your ideas!

Well, if there's nothing you want, then don't subscribe! :) But if you read through this thread you will find others who do want the extra features and are willing to pay for them.

Premium members will be held to the same standards as every other user on the site and they can be banned as well. By subscribing you will agree that you understand if you are banned you will loose any money that you pre-paid for your subscription. There will be no refunds.

No argument from me (and not only because you might ban me... :D)

I agree - but I've heard of people threatening to sue subscription fora in similar instances. You might consider making a HUGE flashing box of text saying "If you are banned you will lose any money paid for subscription" so they can't argue they've not seen it.

I doubt the situation would arise in any case, as Flerbizky says. However, I would take legal advice just in case - as I'd hate to see this site closed down due to a trouble-making malcontent.

Maybe a few super moderators - but when push comes to shove, I bet you'll find very few others, if any, who want to spend money to get marginally better utility from the site. Logically it doesn't make any sense unless you throw something defining into the mix, at least for me - especially at $10/month.

Isn't that a little bit too expensiv :odd:
That's almost exactly what I wanted to hear. You think it's too epensive. So how much would you shell out for those improvements?

What about new GTP skins? Would a choice of different color schemes be nice?

$0.10 per year.

If I got a moderator to sing at my birthday parties - now that's a different story.

When I'm 18 and out of this place, I'll gladly do that for you. Provided that you pick me up.

Meh, maybe we could do something for GTPlanet then win free Premium accounts. 👍 Have sitewide contest's with prize's like 6 month's of free premium membership. :)

I've got it! How about we can pay Jordan to get our name changed. 💡

Yeah, that sounds like a decent idea, include the ability to change your name and a longer sig in the premium package/subscription/whatever.👍

I would shell out $5 a month if I could just mail it to you or something. Because Paypal and similar things don't work for me.

I think 5 dollars per month sounds reasonable to me. $10 seems to be pushing it for marginally better performance. The features listed seem to be plenty for me, but then again, I've been lurking for the past months and I haven't been posting as much as I used to (so my opinion on this doesn't matter too much). Discounts for long-term memberships sound nice as well. I liked sUn's idea of being able to win a prize of maybe a month or two of free premium service. Honestly, I'd be paying the money just to support the site, and since I don't use it as much, the extras are just icing on the cake.

The only problem I see here is that this board is very diverse, which means lots of different currencies going to support the site.

Isn't 10 bucks monthly too much? 5 bucks?

:EDIT:.... If it was 10 bucks, woo,(no job yet) my money would run out in a matter of a couple months. :EDIT:

Jordan, members:

Did anyone realise yet what the free subscription will be like? I would like to reverse the discussion to be able to judge better/choose better!

If for premium you get :
a 110*110 avatar etc... =appearence
bigger PM (ok)
no ads (ok)................

What will gtpFRee be like?????

The question will be, How much are you willing to spend to avoid a free but "cluttered, limited" Gtplanet ??

No, offense, but just want to take the discussion a step further :)

I would pay 20-25$ for a GTYplanet that would give me more information and less bull**** in the forums, stricter moderators (as in my reply to"are new members allowed to post")

Rest assured everyone, before this discussion goes any further, the price will be under $5 per month. k2racer, everyone will still be using the same website - it's not like there will be 2 different communities that have different characteristics.

Thanks for the reply, Jordan!

I suspect it is of interest to you (read GTPlanet and its's users) to have a GTPremium.

Are you going to have a teaser/trial subscription to let people experience "the real thing" then? In this way you are better able to get people over to Premium?

I may do something like that - I'm not exactly sure how I'll roll all the Premium stuff out yet. I'm trying to get our advertisements situated and settled away first, followed by a long line of things that must be taken care of very soon (like one very popular forum...).

I forgot about the fact that the gtplanet is more than the forum, although I think, like me, a fair percentage of the people visiting GTplanet visit directly the forum.

As a european member, we are not that used to visiting websites where you have to click away banners that cover your site... :yuck: There are no boundaries on the net, of course, but there still is a distinct difference between european way of advertising and the american way (for me bad example: IGN)
