I am just running this by as an idea for some of the active racers to throw around.

Every major racing simulation (rFactor, LFS, GTR, as well as Gran Turismo) spawns a number of organizations, leagues, clubs, teams, etc. They usually form, for one reason or another, to further its members' enjoyment when racing that simulation. These organizations apply some sort of "Rules of Conduct" that its members agree to abide by when racing online for the betterment of the community as a whole.

I feel that we, the GTPlanet community, must prepare ourselves for the day that private servers arrive. I propose we democratically set forth some basic "Rules of Conduct" that we expect of GTPlanet members in the online arena. I am not asking that we implement anything unreasonable or any rules that are too complex for the average gamer.

I just thought it would be important that everyone is on the same page regarding the basics:

* Basic Driver Etiquette
* Contact Concessions
* Corner Rights
* Defensive Driving
* Driving a severely damaged car (for when damage is implemented)
* Initial Fault
* Recovering from an incident
* Re-entering to the track after running off
* Running into the car ahead of you

The list can be as long or as short, as simple or as complex as you, the community wants it. If you don't want rules, that's fine by me too. You can tell me to go jump in a lake. I just thought that we should be prepared for the big day private servers are available and we can finally have some "honest to goodness" clean races where everyone is fully aware of their responsibilities on the track.

Again, I propose this for the betterment of all GTP members. It is nothing that needs to be done overnight, but it is important that we think ahead. That being said, I feel it is important that any rules proposed and agreed upon by the community, above all, will keep the game enjoyable...because in the end, its still just a game.

Edit: To clarify, I am not asking that rules be applied to the public servers. There is no expectation of compliance amongst racers in a public setting. They paid for the game too, and have the right to pretty much do whatever they want whether we agree with it or not. We don't have the right to tell others (in the public arena) what to do anyways.

Maybe you should have read the reply to the post you made earlier...

I am totally in favour of the idea (obviously) but it's a work in progress at the moment, involving people who organise OLR events in several GT forums.

Watch this space, though, as I expect that something on these lines will be posted in the GTP forums shortly 👍
