GTP WTAC Week 98 : vaughan's Choice

*** This week we are going to use two find Skyline models chosen by our very own vaughan! The first car is one of the Gran Turismo fantasy creations - this particular car being the pace car/safety car with the lights on top. The other car is very similar in performance and is the 2000 GT-R Spec II N1 version. This matchup should be both very close in terms of final times as well as very fun! Thanks for the car combo, vaughan! ***

Even though the picture of the first Skyline isn't showing up, make sure you choose the correct one with the lights on top (the pace car/safety car).

OMG I dont have this one... why wouldn't u pic regular one (without roof lights ? -,-)

Probably because the regular Gran Turismo Skyline is too powerful compared to the pace car. Besides, isn't it fun to drive a pace car at racing speeds?

^^^
Yes, the two cars chosen are a close match (performance-wise). The 'race version' is much, much more powerful than the 'pace car/safety car'.

Ill try to find safety car, and in the mean time Ill try out race version on this track :D 👍

I caught the WTAC bug again ;) !

I first run a couple of laps with the Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V spec II N1 '00 just to try it out and I got caught in it : I'll be in this week !

So, here are the best laps I have from tonight' session :

Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V spec II N1 '00 : 1'23.452 (after 30 laps)
Nissan GRAN TURISMO SKYLINE GT-R (PC) '01 : 1'23.548 (after 5 laps)

To me, not a big difference between these cars, but I think it is better to run the Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V spec II N1 '00 first and finish the week with the PC car -very fun btw ;)-

I aim a high 1'22 with both car but it won't be easy as I already ran a pretty good session !

Good luck guys 👍

Initial times (Only 0.00 rear toe)
Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 ~ 1'24.110
Nissan Gran Turismo Skyline GT-R (PC) ~ 1'25.106

This is actually the very first time I've ran Deep Forest since GT3, since I don't go for all the S ranks in the race modes. Done these times in only 3-5 laps each, and I can see these cars have a lot of room for improvement. 👍

I had 1:27,xxx yesterday after only a few laps with N1. I don't think i have 1:22,xxx ambitions like easy or antares :) i will be aiming for low 25's - high 24's. At least i hope for it :D

I was running the N1 with S3 tires, but looking here I saw that the tires to use are R1?
Can Detroit confirm this?

I did run some laps with R1 tires and got an 1'22.1xx time.

Yes, we'll be using R1 tires for both cars.

But MVR, you can use S3's if you'd like to do so! :sly: ha ha ha

My initial times are 1'26.0xx for the GRAN TURISMO SKYLINE GT-R (PC) and 1'26.2xx for the SKYLINE GT-R V spec II N1.

I think I can easily shave some more time off if you don't brake as much for the first turn. I believe that it can be taken at a pretty high rate of speed.

An astute observer and fellow competitor pointed out that most GT5 racers tend to cut some corners that aren't allowed in this competition. Most notably, turns 5/L & 6/K... and also 9/G & 8/H.

Please make note of that and keep two tires on the tarmac at all times (per the WTAC rules).

Thank you!

After little practice (15 laps with each car) i have low 25's on both cars :) But i must check the replays to be sure that i have clean laps :) My goal this week will be "not to be the last guy" as usual :D I still think i can push my limits lil' bit

I'm done trying to catch up the MVR08' 1'22.1xx and trying to crack the 1'21.xxx barrier with the N1 (that's where MVR08 and Antares26 will be ;) ) :

Here are the best laps I have with the N1 so far :

- 1'22.552
- 1'22.535
- 1'22.525
- 1'22.220

Here is the setup I used for all these times -not very logical but worked for me...-

(spoiler alert: )

- - -4 +0
5 7 4 6
-0.5 -0.5 +1.5 +0.5

all laps done in 3th and 4th gear.

New time with the PC : 1'22.663

Good luck !

My times are ranging with yours so I guess I we got a battle at the bottom of the pack! I'll try to catch up.
