@Sausages: Thanks for your kind words but, concerning the steward's job, I'll make it clear that either we trust each other or we don't. So, the "qualifier" I had in mind won't have any secrecy (we'll post here the laptimes, I don't even have a PM Inbox capable of handling this, it's limited to 50 PMs - Inbox and Sent Items together), we'll just post here what times we achieve and we'll have to believe in everyone's times without need of proof.
So, the only thing I can be responsible for is to create and edit the post where the laptimes will be published. If there are cheaters among us (and I firmly believe there aren't), I'll pity them, but it won't bother much with it. Let's keep those strict cheater-proof rules to the Official Events, run by Sphinx and whatever staff he invites to the job.
To all those that prefer races, I do also, but the problem is that we are 76 and creating a "championship" would be a huge task. Anyway, if anyone is up to it, I'll gladly enter.
But ...
We can do one very simple thing, using our "qualifier". We can split the guys that make the qualifier in groups of 8 (to make sure everyone gets in the race, even if wildcards click "start" at the scheduled time), acording to laptimes posted, (it'll be 8 groups, I guess, if 64 drivers enter) and each group will then schedule his own race.
Then we can have a "grand finale", with the race winners of the "group" races.
(i'm thinking this at the same time I'm writing it)
The tricky part will be this. No one will know, until a few minutes before the scheduled "grand finale", what car/track combo will be used (it'll have to be an international event, unless only PAL or only NTSC drivers make it to this race). As I'll not probably enter this last race, I can be the one who decides thatbut, in the improbable case that I enter the race, I'll delegate that responsability on any other division fellow.
It should be a fast-forward event (one day for the qualifier - friday, one for the group races - saturday and one for the "grand finale" - sunday)
Does all this make sense?
Why organise another qualifier when you've already completed one and have the division already laid out? Maybe I'm wrong and I'm being slightly over sensitive here, but this really comes as a smack in the mouth for all my efforts in organising this, I feel that now you have some form of structure you want to take the opportunity to suck on the juices of my hard work and do it how you feel it should've been done and thus take it in a different direction.
I want to remind you that this thread is the GTP_Division 2 Members Meeting Thread, not 'GTP_Division 2 Members Meeting Thread Lets Do Our Own Thing And Start by Doing Another Qualifier' thread.

I stood before my desktop screen for a while, reading and re-reading your post, and mainly what you acuse me of doing (in the bolded part).
I'm speechless. Maybe I'm over-sensitive also.

I tried to give here a few ideas of fun things Division 2 guys could make, to race each other and meet each other. Could be a time trial, but it couldn't be a race (because we are so many), so I thought of a simple event, with a one day time trial to set up a few races and then a last race. I named the time trial a "qualifier", just because it would determine the participants of the following races.
I've no interest in taking advantage of others work, I've no interest in smacking anyone's mouth. That's just not me, believe it or not (because you don't know me).
So, I take it all back. As far as I'm concerned, I'll take no part in unofficial self -organized division events, as I understand you feel they are a form of "sucking the juices of your hard work".
And, of course, I'm sorry to make you feel that your work was abused.
End.
Sphinx, now that this GTP Event is vast enough to make any real racing competition blush in terms of participants I guess we should start organizing it a bit more. ie a Subforum for GTP and further Subforums for each divisions with admins for those. Don't get me wrong here Sphinx, we all appreciate your hard work tremendously but at the moment you're doing it mostly, if not all on your own (I guess). Wouldn't it be better if the work was split up a bit more?
Speaking for myself, I don't have much interest in running more TTs - I can already run as many TTs as I want within the existing GT5P TT structure. I would rather try & organize some informal race meetings among Div 2 members.
You are mistaken if you believe that all this work is just for offline Time Trial events. Any Tom, Dick or Harry Dunsden can do that.

???
That was exactly my point: I don't want more TTs - I want online racing👍
I'm not sure how it will work out, and I trust Sphinx and co. to come up with a truly spectacular structure around the online competition, but I could see TT playing an important role in online racing -- if nothing else than to seed the online race brackets, and starting lineup for the races.
Imagine a TT as a qualifier for a race, and used to give permitted PP levels for race participants... for example, 8 racers in a 750pp event... qualifiers are allowed to set their PP as follows:
top TT time: 745pp
2nd TT time: 746pp
3rd TT time: 747pp
4th TT time: 748pp
5th TT time: 749pp
6-8th TT time: 750pp
Bingo, you have a seeded grid. You also have a (very minor) built in handicap.
Again, I don't know if this is what Sphinx and co. have in mind, but it's one of the many possibilities in the mix, and comes closer to matching the experience of RL racing.
Good idea, but I would like PD to have Qualifying for future races if it's possible![]()
I'm sure they will eventually, and the WRS will integrate that into the series once they do.
Until then, we have to make do with what we have available.
how about Div 2 have some informal races Monday night. All in the same car/color/PP combo at Suz750. i suggest white/M3/Max. from 7:04, every 15 Till 8:49.
