I've now updated the very strict / very important qualifier rule relating to the posting of splits, final lap times and any discussions that could be helpful to other drivers when running the qualifier:

• Do not discuss privately or post publicly any of your splits or final times, or anything relating to this qualifier that would help another driver to improve on his/her final lap time. By taking part in this qualifier you agree to this very strict ruling

It's very important for everyone to make themselves aware of the rules and become accustomed to reading them for every event, It's also very important to go back to the rules every now and then to check for any changes that may have occurred. The large number of DQ's that are handed out in OLR are due to drivers not reading the rules correctly. Please don't be one of them. 👍

Is it just me or is the F430 heavily biased towards someone with a wheel? I'm getting nothing but understeer everywhere. I was really hoping this would be the M3, with a new generation of racing it would have been nostalgic if we used the new M3, with the old WRS Qualifier being the old M3. Just an after thought, but it seems in this car I'll be division 3 (assuming there are 3 divisions).

Side note: What really cheeves me is I have a wheel now, and can't use it until I build a setup myself.

same here bud, I coudlnt produce a proper lap at first i just kept spinning out and oversteering I did manage to complete 2 laps but like I said in a pervious post i want to try geta lil bit better

OK, so the understeer was largely my fault, I found the proper driving style for this car, and that said- I hate the F430. I don't want to drive like that, I want to drive FR cars.

Me building one= $40 (price for car seat from wreckers).
I'm happy to use controller until I get a wheel. If I do get faster with the wheel, these divisions aren't fixed you know. You can be promoted or demoted depending on how you're performing.

I much preferred to drive it before the update, it felt tricky, but planted to the track. Now it feels a bit weird and kinda hovering on some places.

I think it's better to submit a time that's properly representative of your ability.
I could pound round Suzuka night after night, and sometime I'll maybe hit that magic (lucky) lap. What if it's good enough to get me into Div 1 or 2, but really I'm a Div 3 driver? What happens next is that I'll be out of my depth in Div 1 races, being embarassed at finishing last, and being unable to give the other guys a decent race.
Ever played squash against someone much better than you? It's actually not enjoyable.
So - for my part, I'll give it an hour at the most, then submit my time. If I'm a Div 3 driver then that's fine. At least I'll be in races where I can compete. If it turns out I'm better than that, then I'll get promoted.

Unfortunately the car choice isn't going to suit everyone, but lets be honest the f430 is a good choice even if some people don't like it. Its a rearwheel drive so its not really fogiving but at the same time its well balanced and with the slight downforce it creates it is also very stable making it a fairly easy rwd to drive. This helps accomodate for eveyone. Don't forget this isn't just a qualifier for the fastest driver is it? There will be drivers competing who normally compete in standard physics mode, or people who self admittedly just aren't all that amazing at driving. Can you imagine giving them a tricky FR car to do the qualifyer in? For them it would be more about keeping it on the road than doing fast laps. Thats not exactly fair is it.

So all I am trying to say is the car choice is to help accomodate for alll drivers without making it too easy. Now if your not happy with the car well I can understand, certain cars just don't suit certain peoples driving styles. For me its a shame that this competition had to take place on a time trial (which I am usesless at in comparision to acctually racing) and if that means I am in a lower devision than I wanted then I am going to have to get over it because afterall you can be promoted if you show you are faster when we get the real racing, but at the moment a time trail is the best way to sort out devisions. The exact same thing can be said about the car choice if you don't like the car and it puts you in a lower devision then you are just going to have to get over it I am afraid.

Now I am not having a go at people I just wanted to make this very clear about the car. The choice car for this event has been made and it isn't going to change. If people could please simpley leave it at that and not go on about it any further .

excactly,and people don't forget that the ferrari f430 is a MID ENGINED car....so it also behaves different as opposed to a conventional front engined rear wheel drive car......don't forget...

The beauty of this is that you can choose to spend as much time on it as you want. I can't see myself spending more than a day on this. I know other people may be at it for a week or so though.

I understand your point, but I don't fully agree. I don't want to be in a division where I get hopelessely owned, but I also don't want to be in a division where the competition isn't fierce. I want to be where I belong (whatever division that might be).

So, considering that I never drove the F430 online (meaning, I stopped using it when finishing offline mode) and that I'll have my best laptime compared against drivers I'm used to race with and have been using the F430 for ages ... shouldn't I give myself sometime, not to get a "lucky lap", but to gain some consistent speed with it?

As an example of what I'm saying, I'll give you this. Last night I tried to see how my skill was compared to the rest of the world, with the GTR (my usual car) in HSR. In maybe 30 minutes, I got placed 11th (you can check it in the leaderboards (GTR/HSR/Pro). Wow, I must be really good, isn't it?

Well, it seems I'm not, because with the F430, trying for about the same 30 minutes in Suzuka, I got something like 750th.

So, what should be my conclusion? Which of these rankings represent what I'm capable of? should I submit that F430 laptime? Or should I learn the car a litle bit more and try to see how fast I can be with it?

I think everyone should try their best in the qualifying round. That way, it represents as accurately as possible the differences in skill driving this car and makes it a lot more likely that everyone is then placed on their 'proper' division, at least at the time.

Of course many people will evolve their driving and will then proceed to a higher division, and the other way around, as some will find their limits sooner than expected and drop division.
The coice of car is a good one. Within the RWD cars, it's almost as easy to drive (driving it to the limit is a different story) as they get and I believe it will brake things up nicely.

In the future, on GTP organised events, surely there won't be AWD cars to drive exclusively, so it's better to see where people stand with a RWD car right off the bat.

I'm a bit lost with all this about the GTP_Registry thing (the competition) because since the 1st August update I left GT5P simply because I hated the new penaltie things. I've read the message today and when I come to this thread I see a lot of pages haha... well.. I've read like 3 but I've finally some doubts, so here we go:

1.- This is a must, isn't it?, I mean... if I've read properly and not misunderstood any term on english... this is a race that we all GTP members should do in order to keep ourself into the GTP team, because if not we will be removed. Am I Right?

2.- It will be at Suzuka finally?, because in these pages I've reading a few comments and seems to be that it was initially at The Eiger. Maybe it was the 1st idea and then it changed to Suzuka. I'm asking this just to be sure and make it clear by the way.

3.- We used to do some competitions with GTP members (not restricted by the way) but this one seems to be like a filter. Was this race created in order to clean the list removing those that just put their name but are not racing? (I honestly don't want to sound rude, it's just that I was a bit shocked when I did read it).

4.- Last but not less: I'm not sure if I get the idea of the divions properly when talking about the GTP team, but is this race anything in order to do some groups with different levels? (for example, three different GTP members groups to separate the GTP members on "best", "middle", and "worst" ones?). Confirm if this was the idea. This will be a bit influenced by the ones who use wheel or not, but anyway (and even if it's a bit sad because some of us will be owned) it's a good idea in order to enjoy a bit more the next races between each member of your same division who maybe should be competitive with you 👍

Yes, you will be removed from the Registry.
You can use you GTP tag if you want to, of course (it's yours), but you won't be registered as a tagged GTP driver.
Only registered GTP tagged drivers will be allowed to race on GTP events.

It will work the same way as the current WRS events, with promotions, demotions, etc.
Only difference is we will have actual online races, not just hotlapping.

I can't argue with any of that. I guess it comes down to how long you dedicate to this grading exercise. It's not a competition, it's an exercise to group drivers of similar capability together.
The flaw in the exercise is there is no fixed amount of time allowed to achieve a time, and I understand that it's something that can't be fixed.

I'm going to stick with my self-imposed time limit of 1 hour. I think that, after an hour, I'll be down to a time that I can only improve by hundredths on a good lap. That will be good enough for me.

I'll predict what will happen;
When we start racing in divisions, there will be a few drivers in the upper divisions who are not consistently fast enough to race at that level.
There will also be some drivers in the lower divisions who will win everything.
The slow drivers will get demoted, the winners will get promoted, and then we will have close racing within the divisions.

So - to submit a blistering time is not an absolute essential. Submit what you believe to be a reasonable time, and see what happens. If you are a bottom division driver, it doesn't mean that you have slipped down the social ladder.

I personally love the car and track selection. The S2's offer up just enough of a challenge through the esses to make things interesting.

As for the concerns regarding keeping times private, I have chosen to be signed out of PSN when doing my hot laps.

Doesn't matter what time you do, just as long as you do a time. I have to imagine mine was one of the slower ones judging by how it stacks up against other online rankings.

I disagree there somewhat, The fast guys will run laps superfast in the first few days, and the more laps everyone does the faster guys will just run again and beat, if you get a lucky super fast lap chances are a faster racer will get a quicker consistent lap regardless.

Not 100% sure on the divisions thing but im sure that in the future some racers will move divisions? if you are totally domination Div3 im sure that there will be a shuffle to keep it fair, from the looks of things this is just to kick off the divisions in the team, i say hotlap, enjoy it and good luck to all.

Started with this last night and let me tell ya, unless some miracle occurs Sphinx is gonna have to add Division 4 and Division 5. There is no way Division 3 can hold my lousy time!
