Whats even cooler, 22 of those 27 are Div 2 drivers :nervous::scared:

Really nice to see so many drivers show up this week! 👍
57 entries and 33 of them are within one second of eachother.
I'm down 10 places in 22 houres?! :ouch:
I've got to hit the track again then I guess...

Nice show up in the WRS - Online events too! 👍
Be sure to check this out if you haven't already! :gtpflag:

So I have a little issue... I ran 3 or 4 laps earlier, the first lap being the fastest that I've ran so far, but it turned out to be dirty, crossed over the red/white rumble onto the concrete shown in the first post...

but on that same set of laps, I ran a fast clean lap, not as fast as the dirty one, but the dirty one showed up as my fastest lap yet... I didn't save the ghost replay, only because I know that it would be dirty, but on lap 3 of that session I had a nice clean lap. I did save the full replay, so if that fast clean lap ends up being my last one submitted, and I am asked for a replay, will I be ok? Anyways, here are the splits from my fastest clean lap yet.

T1: 25.269
T2: 21.439

Unfortunately you are out of luck. Only the ghost replay is valid for verification in this event. This scenario has happened to many of us and it stinks when it occurs.

The only way to prevent is to exit when you get a fast dirty lap. Or if you know you are dirty during the lap you back off.

Sorry.

I've been recruiting hard via PM also so we can get 20+ drivers in both regions. 👍 A good way to bring in the new year.

Ok, no big deal.... just means I need to go faster. :D I wasn't actually sure if the lap was going to be dirty when I ran it, because I was just "in the zone" and thought (hoped) that the inside tires had stayed on the rumbles. I submitted my fast clean lap to fetchbot, but I'm going to make sure that I either get a faster clean lap or just use my old fast lap for this event.

When I get an obvious dirty fastest lap, I make sure I don't finish in front of my ghost so it doesn't register it as the fastest lap.
Even if this means giving up speed on the main straight towards the finish.

Good attitude. 👍

Got enough spare time for another 17 laps last night (totalling 42 laps, thats almost a record for me!!)
Improved in sector 1 but 0.06 slower in sector 2, fortunately still gives a 0.5gain at the line.
T1: 25.097
T2: 21.322

LOL  look at what splits fetchy collected from jtv
EDIT: wow that emoticon looks pretty baldy

Edited your splits manually already jtv. :)

BTW, nice splits! 👍

25.167 :boggled:
20.676

Crazy lap, 2 hours more running for a whopping 9 thousandths. I'm way too addicted now, I'm gonna end up doing a 'Chuk-esque' number of laps by the time this ends.

Edit:
25.005
20.807

Blew a 45.750 with a bad T3, finally started seeing 24.9s though, YES!

Wow, I've lost it after last week... my best effort after 25 laps is 8 tenths off the pace. Can't figure this combo at all... :nervous:

I have to observe though that an understeering M3 was not what I expected. I had the pleasure of having a blast in an M3 a few years back and if you put your foot down, you got a great view of where you'd just been. That feature seems to be lacking from this model. :p

Another morning, some coffee, and it's track time! I'm hoping to get a tenth off my t2 time, but that's probably being generous. :dopey:
After running this track the other direction in a NSX, and now taking the BMW in this direction, I can say with the utmost conviction that I hate the tunnel with a passion for the ages! I'm doing all right through turns 1 & 2, but the entry to the tunnel is a crapshoot. I either lose too much speed and don't get it back, or I'm so fast through there that I miss my braking zone at the end, provided I missed the wall on entry!! :ouch:
It doesn't help that every time I go through it I hear the voice of Elrond calling to Frodo "Come back to the Light!"

I THINK there is just coffee in my cup!!:sly:

Racing On!

edit: Nice sector time, millross!!

I'm finding the M3 quite neutral but leaning towards understeer as you mention, the S3 tyres will cause that, BMW's usually have great traction and they will add to that.

If you do manage to get the car dancing on the limit this is a fantastic combination, I think GVE is a really challenging short course too.

I have not had the pleasure of a RL M3, but on a similar note I must say this one feels strange. I run it on S1 tyres online, S3's have way too much grip. But not here. And even with S3 tyres it does not have the snappy response that I so love. Weird offline physics.

I am not sure I was within 0.8 after the first 25 laps either. But now I find it all rather simple, in theory at least. Sector 1 is all about exit speed from turn 2, and getting over the grass on tunnel entry without losing balance (same key points as running the track forwards, actually). Sector 2 is all about exit speed from the hairpin, from there it is just flooring it. That is it, really. Slow in fast out as usual, especially because of the understeer. Oh, and do use some rear brake balance and engine braking to steer around the tight corners.

That said, I still think the macho RWD behaviour of last week's car suits your driving style better ;)

What colour is fastest? Because it isn't white.

Can't get anywhere near a fast time in T1, no idea how you guys get into the 24s :nervous: I swear the grass on the right after the first corner gets closer each lap.

I'm taking your advice this week, cicua!! 👍 I'm changing my brake balance.

Fwiw I use 5/9 abs=1. Good luck!

Last splits this year...

24.730
20.693

But there is more to it before deadline. A low 24.6 just fell out of the sky, I have hardly done any 24.7's before (and then I did the above). Patience around turn 1, steady, steady, steady, not too aggresive, around turn 2. Now to put it all together... in 2012!

Happy new year everyone

Finaly a decent T1, i lose almost .1xx in the second sector :grumpy: Saw a .655 in T2. Anyway i'm faster at the finish, that what counts.

Have a very good new year everybody. I call it the day for this year, gonna get drunk now. See ya all next year

At the risk of being passed, here's my turn 1 writeup. The tunnel turn is much less consistent for me, and I'm convinced that's where I'm losing the majority of my T1 time, my turn 1/2 is pretty solid.

Coming down the front straight, make sure you do a blip into 5th, even if it's just for a moment. The downshift into 4th helps with weight transfer and getting the car pointed.

I've tried kicking the car up onto the rumbles on the right hand side of the track, but that's not necessary to pull this off, and might actually be slower that just being on the very outside of the tarmac.

Just after those rumbles start, downshift into 4th while braking VERY lightly, and aim for the first apex. As you come to the apex, brake more, and downshift to 3rd, and let the car carry all the way out to the right rumbles. All of that should be one smooth, relatively fluid motion, the car should make it's way out there smoothly and on it's own, don't force it.

The shift into 3rd BEFORE hitting the rumble is essential, in my mind. It causes the car to become unsettled when it hits that rumble, and if you aim for the second apex with some more aggressive braking right then and there, it will rotate the car for you and take some of the needed braking out of the equation.

Try your best to get the car to that second apex rumble, but the main thing is to be far enough over that your momentum as you mash it back to full throttle doesn't carry you out into the grass on the right.

You'll feel it when you get it right, but the main thing is to be smooth, brake lightly, and use the gears to help the car rotate.

Made big gains in T2 but at the expense of T1. All my best laps have come with stock brake balance. Will try again with rear bias next time.

Preety helpful Kevin, I was just smashing the brakes at first apex, never switched to 5th. Will try yours later. 👍

T1: 25.861
T2: 21.313

After a littel bit more work I'm still in the basement but I'm heading in the right direction atleast :)

T1: 25.949
T2: 21.070

What a nice big turnout for this one as we head into 2012, wow 50+ 👍
