Overview (How Does This Work?):
  • You must be part of our registry to participate.
  • These are Time Trial Events, we have Online Races here.
  • Set the game up according to the event, car and track details below.
  • Save Your BEST LAP replay before exiting your session.
  • Be sure and run cleanly to the end of the first sector after setting your fast lap. If you exit right away, your time stamp may not show up in your replay.
  • Report your split times in here, so you can compare your pace to other racers, without revealing the full lap time. (Note: this is required if participating)
  • Our leaderboard shows how you stack up during the week, before the deadline.
  • Submit your lap via PM to our Fetchbot, before the event deadline.
  • On deadline day, we will publish the results in our leaderboard and in a thread in this section.
  • Identified replays will be checked by your fellow participants to be sure you meet the event regulations.

  • The event MUST be run using your registered PSN account.
  • The use of the clutch is strictly prohibited.
  • Use of the Handbrake is Prohibited.
  • No Contact with walls or other objects. Any contact with walls, no matter how minor, will result in a DQ.
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times (See image below).
    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible.
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty.

Steward's Comments:

It's time to give a Garage Car a go in Time Trial Mode!!!!! We are headed To Scenic France. Enjoy the countryside by the lake! Please make sure your car is STOCK - No Tuning Allowed!

Saving Replays, Viewing sector times and Submissions:
  • You need to make sure you use the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below).
  • Before saving your replay ensure that you continue running after completing your fast lap until at least the end of first sector. This will ensure you have a complete replay.
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Library' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replays' option.
  • While viewing your Replay, enter the live timing screen to view your sector splits. You will need to do this after your car has passed the sector markers to see it listed.
  • Simply post the splits that are shown in the live timing screen, and our Fetchbot will parse them and add them together for your total sector time.
  • When saving your fastest lap replay please ensure that you watch the replay to the end and that it displays your full lap time. Any replays submitted that do not show the posted lap time will result in a DQ.
  • Remember - When you submit your time you're also declaring that your run is 100% clean. We request replays for the purpose of verifying to all those concerned that the drivers claim is correct, which in turn safeguards the integrity of the driver, and just as importantly, the WRS. The golden rule is to check your replay before submission. If youre still unsure, check it again, ask for a second opinion and if youre still undecided, run the lap again.

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 10 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):
  • Please submit your FULL LAP TIME in the following format on a single line:
    X:XX.XXX
    (Example-)
    1:10.100

  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week 10 Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
  • If you want to submit multiple times in the week just reply to the conversation with your new time. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
  • The deadline is Monday, June 20th 2022 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site.
Why Use GMT?:
GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Replay Checking:
  • Division winners and overperformers will be required to submit a replay via the GT7 Share function for verification AFTER Unofficial Results have been posted.
  • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Replay Verify Required).
  • Video/Youtube/Twitch replays are not accepted as a form of verification.

We might need to be a bit more precise on what custom wheels are allowed. If memory serves, a wide offset does affect PP directly, and sizes/widths other than stock also seem to affect performance without affecting PP.

One more thing to consider - the temperature is variable between runs at the same selected time. I've seen temperatures between 57.2 degrees and 62.8 at 7:10 am. Damn PD for making that variable.

What an oversight from PD, come on now.... For a company thats been so long in this business, they really should know better.

Holy crap! That car does not want to behave under breaking. I ended up drifting through turn 1 on my initial attempt. Heaps of fun. Those turns before the bridge will take a bit of experimenting to get the correct line sorted. I'm used to going through there in a gr1.

That should be able to be avoided by having BoP turned on. Power and weight on road cars stay at 100%/100% but all modifications turn into visual ones only.

No idea about the temperatures (and wind?) tho :scared:

I finally had a chance to run some meaningful laps! Didn’t have to worry about photo opportunities or if the tires were too challenging! Just drive!!!

I may be a bit biased, but I like this combo! 🤪

Some questions :
Can we modify suspension setting?
I see "Brake balance : Optionnal", means that we can buy it ?
Tranmission is stock? no possibility to buy "fully custom" one?

No tuning allowed. Car purchased from dealership. No added parts, completely stock. Brake balance is not available. Sorry for the confusion and thank you for bringing it up. I have now changed the wording to N/A.

I did a test of braking to a stop from the starting speed (holding L2 pressed before starting until full stop) and then checking with the red/white strips how long the braking distance is. For the early morning time with the lowest temperature the braking distance is longest, in afternoon heat the braking distance is shortest. The difference is about 2 strip lengths -- the length of a single red/white strip section. I shared photos of the braketest under the tag gtpwrsbraketest if you want to take a look. But it's also easy to reproduce.

I used ABS weak, but i guess the same differences show up with other settings.

I did a quick check with two different wheels, but found no difference. Maybe this is not affecting the tire grip and is purely cosmetical.

So long story short: to get best tire grip, use the afternoon time. :)

It does grow on you the more you drive it!! Great combo!

This was in the morning, yesterday I tried running a few laps in the afternoon, I just kept hitting the wall in the left hander after the bridge, but I was considerably faster, so definitely afternoon.

Combo grows on you after the initial shock of "why did car just do that"? After keeping it on track the next hurdle is to make it go where you want it to go. Why the need for PD to put a bump on the corner exit before the bridge???

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I've been running all my sessions in the early morning as the drag racer in me equates cooler temps with making more power. (not that I seriously thought it was changing anything) Will switch to afternoon to see if I notice a difference in my braking distances.

Great job with the combo selection, challenging track + quirky car = addictive time shaving fun! :dopey:

First Splits, still lots of time to shave off.

Regarding the cool air power gains -- seems PD missed modeling that, i did another quick accelearation test: instead of braking right away, i accelerated full throttle with auto shift right up to the first wall crash. The speeds at impact were the same:

Morning 179km/h - 7163rpm
Afternoon 179km/h - 7169rpm

And i double checked that the initial speed at the point of getting control over the car is the same for both times:

Morning 130km/h - 6767rpm
Afternoon 130km/h - 6732rpm

So PD modeled tire grip varying with temp but not the power gain with cooler air -- a strange decision. They even save the temps in the leaderboard of the time trials done on a track, split into air temp and surface temp. Either they don't model air temp power gain at all or they switch it off in time trials. 🤔
Another annoying thing is that the temps vary slightly with each time trial run -- i noticed -+3° variations in the runs on my leaderboard even with the same time of day used.

I found there were more marshals or spectators on the afternoon slot. More options for brake or turn in markers.
In event settings the grip reduction can be changed from low to real. Default is low. I have tried both but didn't notice a difference. I always run with real when possible. Anyone else noticed a difference?

I hv tried also with real, but did not see any difference.
My main issue is how to manage big right curve after bridge, I lose lot of tenth here...

That'll teach me to apply real world logic to the game!!

Good to see they modelled the important stuff
