Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Some great racing folks, it's amazing how spread the entire results are yet how close they are in divisions?!? I really struggled to find all that extra time people were discovering so I wanted to see how it was done:

@Gravitron : Yours looked just like my lap, except that you did absolutely everything better! I guess that's the main difference between divisions.
@Masterhec : You were VERY brave in corner 18, no guts no glory though I guess!
@Mark_S : You had a very satisfying total lap time for an OCPD like me :) I think you just need to be a little more confident with your brake points and smoother with your inputs.
@gm matthew : Surprised you didn't get red flagged at Eau Rouge, nice lap though.
@PASM : Great car control, your lap really highlights the difference between drivers like myself and drivers like yourself.
@skyline1683 : You were right on the edge throughout your entire lap...I could never hold a lap like that together, kudos to you!
@ccaranna : A very careful lap, GT40 owners would happily lend you their car for the day :) Great throttle control, just need to have clear brake points and get a little braver.
@RS__96__oO : Very nice and controlled lap, I'm gonna use yours to do some data logger comparisons with my own to see my main weaknesses from this week.
@Andy 0 : Liking the disco ball paint and again the OCPD-pleasing total time. It appeared quite messy but you still kept great corner exit speed, nice work.

Righty-O, back to England I go...bit of swapping between London and Brands Hatch methinks :sly:👍

Congratulations on another great win, Bart! Congrats to all podium finishers 👍

Thanks for the great combo, Kevin! And Vaxen, thanks for the quick results!

Man, I really thought I had a good enough lap for a negative handicap... what's it gonna take?? :banghead:

No kidding about the close finish. Seven hundredths separating the top three in D3 on such long lap is insane.
And I got my wish of adding the missing silver trophy :)
MisterWeary you do such great job reviewing, thanks (I suspect you skipped mine as I had the popular 001 file number).
I'll try to add notes to my reviews.

I'm gonna do the rest except for my own and mcmullan64.

Thanks for the check and comments @MisterWeary. :)

Congrats Bart on the commanding win!

Well done Steve and Sems for the other two podiums in D2. :mischievous:

Quite the photo finish there in D3. :D

@AspecBob, we're pretty much tied in our handicap positivity. Yay? :odd:

Oh good - the green flags are back.

Since the Misters (@MisterWeary and @mr_lab_rat) already either did or said they would cover almost all of the replays, that leaves me with just two. Given I was at least 10 mph slower in Eau Rouge/Raidillon and nearly 20 mph slower in Blanchimont than everybody else, and I wouldn't know what a good lap looks like generally, I won't have commentary beyond the green flag.

Check that - the green flags may be back, but Fetchy isn't seeing them. Guess we have to repost with the green flags that only Fetchy can see until it gets its new prescription. First, @MisterWeary's work:

@smialas86 - great first event. Incredible speed through Eau Rogue. You almost redlined at the T1. Used up all the road and held great speed through Pouhon.

@couttsy21 - made it look easy. Almost two seconds faster than me and I still don't see how you did it :)

@GuerillaBlack - close call at the Eau Rogue entry but I guess that's how you manage to get through it so fast. The lift in turn 16 probably cost you some time at the line.

@pitskater - you did this with DS3? That's impressively smooth. Wild moment before T2 probably cost you podium.

@Napalm_LT - Nice late apex turn 1, I wish I could do that. Smooth Eau Rogue, 4 tenths ahead of me at T1. You were super smooth but perhaps too careful in T2 and T3. Most of the time was lost in Blanchimont.

@Deacon-blues082 - Great T1, a bit wild through T2 and T3. But you probably knew that.

@GTP_SEMS - Wow. One day I hope to be this good. This is what confidence looks like. No second guessing, no corrections needed. Once you start accelerating you are commited.
I was gonna point out you lifted in turn 16 but that was because you just got through Stavelot so fast you probably had to :)

No kidding about the close finish. Seven hundredths separating the top three in D3 on such long lap is insane.

It was realy close. I was happy with my lap until I did beter lap - 2'24.223 (would won D3 by 0,001 :)), but while watching reply I wasn't 100 % sure is it clean on enetering Eau Rogue (2 wheels were on the rumble by a few mm, or just close to the rumble, couldnt veyfy it by reply). Deleted this lap to not to have temtation to submit it :) A bit sad of that

Thanks @MisterWeary for checking and for the kudos on my lap your completely right I was 100% on the limit the whole lap I'm still amazed looking at the replay myself how I quite managed it especially using a ds3 after my pedals broke on my wheel leaving me no option but to button bash my way around spa.

My data logger on the throttle looks like a heart beat on a monitor

Very well done @Andy 0 , my friend Muppeteer ;) Im very happy for you!
Congratulations to all the podiums and negative handicaps.
@Tavilha, nada mau, ehh.., not bad for starters - hope you have time for more. See you tonight 👍

Oh my god a T2 podium   didn't expect that, I'm over the moon with it, a bit gutted I ruined a 1'44.6 T2 lap but can't complain really wanted a D2 podium for a while shout out to you guys

also Big shout out to you D1 aliens, I don't know how you do it but massive respect to just how fast you are.

Wow what a comment @mr_lab_rat . You made my day. Trust me you can get there, A few years ago I was running GT5 Prolouge in Division four silver, it takes time but you'll improve alot when you race with the excellent racers here.

Thank you so much again, I think lifting that was my fastest run through Stavelot so wasn't sure if lifting was required and I may have chickened out a bit

Congrats wo all podium drivers....Well done...I'm happy to have a negative handicap..and also with my 15th place...:) now I need a podium, 'cause I will have commented my lap by @MisterWeary or @mr_lab_rat

Its funny to read, haha
You thrashed me this week  well done, a great time. 15th overall, you are flying in the last few weeks!
I am still happy to be in the top 20 :D

Thank you, because of you I give sometimes a little extra effort :) I wait for your time with the Subaru in London

Congrats to all the podium finishers. 👍
I guess I was a little too cautious in the third sector, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with my performance.

Congrats to all podium winners and those who archived their goal. Especially to NielsG and Andy O. You'll be missed in D3.

It's been a pain sitting at the tribune this week watching you all having a ball at this fantastic combo.:ill:

But now I am back and are hoping to make up for some lost driving time. :gtpflag:

Some great racing folks, it's amazing how spread the entire results are yet how close they are in divisions?!? I really struggled to find all that extra time people were discovering so I wanted to see how it was done:

@Andy 0 : Liking the disco ball paint and again the OCPD-pleasing total time. It appeared quite messy but you still kept great corner exit speed, nice work.

Righty-O, back to England I go...bit of swapping between London and Brands Hatch methinks :sly:👍
..

Yes it was a messy lap.. :).. but it was also my fastest.. even with the back end.. on the boarder of adhesion.. not easy with a DS3..

Thanks for the check.. 👍👍.. enjoy Brans Hatch.. :)

Very well done @Andy 0 , my friend Muppeteer ;) Im very happy for you!

Thank s very much.. my friend..:cheers: You will soon be in Div 2.. too.. :gtpflag:

Thanks guys! I'm very happy to get the win. [F1 driver PR talk mode] Thanks to the team who did an outstanding job and gave me this awesome car to win, and a big thank you to my sponsor [/F1 driver PR talk mode]:lol::lol:

Just kidding, well done everyone!!! This was an extremely enjoyable combo and a difficult one. But the love for Spa conquered all.

Thanks to @MisterWeary for checking my replay. 👍

Thanks for posting the video. Although we should really be downloading the replay and plugging it into the data logger.
Three and a half seconds is an eternity even on the lap this long.

That's a great lap Bart been watching and going through the data logger and seeing where I was losing time to you for tomorrow's race was only 0.980 behind you in the TT but you took a massive 0.5 out of me in t3 amazing technic .

You might have got a typo in the title :D 2'02.8 min :D
I can't believe how you nailed Eau Rouge and Blanchimont!!  Btw, you seem to have less braking distance than I had  What b/b were you using?

Bart told me he was using 7/5 and indeed, that stopped me faster than 4/1. But if you're looking at his brake lights or his brake pedal indicator in the replay, those are always a little delayed, so can't be fully trusted, and will make it look like he braked later. I would trust the data logger with your lap vs his lap more than just watching the replay. 👍

Yes, indeed I was using 7/5. Like Lucas said, don't trust the indicators on the YouTube video or the one in GT6 when you view the replay. They are always a few tenths delayed. If you look closely, you can see the brake lights go on earlier than the brake pedal indicator goes to display any braking action. That first sector was my best the whole week. To put it all together in that lap was a bit unreal, and if it were to be perfect I'd prevent that little slide in Blanchimont. I've seen better exit speeds there. But the exit from Stavelot was good and that - together with the Bus stop chicane - is where most of the time is in T3.

Weight balance is very important here, and places where the road surface is uneven unsettle the car. So you got to be very cautious over high kerbstones, you can expect the car to start moving while hitting them. Anticipating that movement is what made me confident to attack corners like Les Combes and Malmedy. Turn 11 is also tricky. I found that running onto the green painted tarmac at the entry makes the car very loose. Braking and turning will cause a lot of oversteer there, so keep it inside of that green area there. But maximise your line by cutting across the inside and the outside and you'll get a good exit.

Pouhon is a big event in this car! I found that braking for the first part, you can use the outer kerbs to get a wider line into the corner, without disturbing the car's balance. I wanted to avoid the inside kerb of the first part, but as you can see in the lap I managed to fail at that. You can go on the throttle earlier if you don't hit that kerb. Les Fagnes is another exercise in weight transfer. Braking heavily, the car wants to understeer at first, but as you release the brakes, the front regains grip and you want to keep it close to the right hand side to maximise the second lefthand part. Release the throttle partly to shift the weight to the front while turning left. Don't overdo it, and lifting off completely will cause the car to snap into oversteer. Once you get the car pointed the right way it is time to put the hammer down again.

Stavelot is all about the exit. The first part determines your speed, because the second part is full throttle. Use the wide kerb on the lefthand side between both apices, it is wide enough to fit the whole car. Turn in late, just late enough so you can go through the second part full throttle with the least amount of steering input. Blanchimont is tricky, and I found it beneficial for the balance of the car to brake a little while keeping on part throttle to get the speed down. On this lap I shift too much weight to the front too quickly and the car starts to slide. Thank God I kept it inside the white line there. The Bus stop chicane, it is nice and technical. You can use quite a lot of kerb and lift the throttle a bit to get the car turned in for the second part. Nice and early on the throttle and use the whole width on the outside exit kerb.
