Steward's Comments:
First visit to the proper Nordschleife in GT6, let's see if we can beat our times from our last time here in a Ferrari. Results. Credit to @roamer2629 for the suggestion and all the testing. Great pics, @GTP_Dutchy!

Viewing your Time Splits:
  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below)
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Gallery' option.
  • Live timing monitor does not work properly, so we have to use a small trick to view splits.
  • While viewing your Replay, pause the lap by hitting start, before the end of the first sector.
  • While keeping the replay paused, advance the replay, using the forward arrow on the replay HUD. This will advance the replay to the end of the first sector. That's your T1 split, write it down.
  • Advance the replay again. That will show the lap to date time on the screen, this is your first and second sector time, added together.
  • To post your T1 Splits, simply post the lap to date times that are shown in the middle of the screen. Do not try to calculate the actual T2 split time, the Fetchbot will do that for you.

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times.

    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind.We will know.
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules

Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods):

  • Total Lap Time
  • Any information which can be used to infer your total laptime

The following information can be discussed in this thread :

  • The first 9 splits: T1 through T9 times
  • Any settings discussion
full

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 89 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):

  • Then attach your 'Best Lap'/'Ghost' replay in zip file form. Everyone submits a replay instead of listing a lap time.
  • You will need to put something in the message body in order to begin a conversation. It doesn't matter what you put, it can even be 1 letter or symbol. Nobody but the Fetchbot is going to see it, so it's sort of pointless, anyhow.
  • You will get an automated response within 15min, letting you know whether your submission was accepted, or if you had an error.
  • If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post your question in the race thread.
  • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Get Entry" and any text in the body.
  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
  • If you want to submit multiple times in the week that is still not a problem. Just reply to the conversation with your new time and new replay. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
  • See this screenshot as an example on how to submit:

  • The deadline is Monday, October 5th 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site

Why Use GMT?:

GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Replay Checking:
  • Everyone is required to submit a replay for verification. This happens when you submit to the Fetchbot, and the replays will be visible in the leaderboard, once we've reached the event deadline
  • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Check Needed)
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

My best tip would be to try to learn the track by parts a bit like Sierra. There are also some turns that really punish you if you miss your braking point, but this are really not that many, maybe 3 or 4.
The F430 is on sports soft this week so it's quite forgiving. Just pretend it's an open road in real life you are driving it on and you'll love it.

Does anyone have tips for me to drive around the green hell without crashing? Last time I drove in Nordschleife was during the Tomahawk X event, I went past turn 1, crashed, and then bought the car for 1 million instead.

I had this same problem for a while. Then, I discovered turning on the driving line for tracks I don't fully know helps a lot. More to help me know when a corner is coming up and what the game's 'ideal' line is (I view the driving line as a suggestion only). Each sector of Nordschleife has has its own feel and style. The first few or so turns I tend to drive conservatively to avoid wrecking. After a while, you will pick out which sectors cause you trouble. There are a few 'whoops!' corners for me.

Thanks for the tips guys. Yes I did the same thing for Sierra, but for some reason the driving line here is a bit buggy, around sector 3 I think everytime there's a corner I miss, which is because of the driving line turning red really late, thus me into the grass. I also use active steering for long tracks that I don't know to get a stable feel of the track, but since it's forbidden in WRS, I'm going to have to find another way.

Those corners generally seem late until you find the sweet spot in the camber, no expert myself, i still hate some sections but better to lift off early and sacrifice a few seconds in certain sectors than bin it constantly, i think a 'perfect' lap around The Ring is something to aspire to and only a few greats actually achieve.

Once, I went through most of Karussell at 90 km/h (I didn't look at the replay though), but the exit didn't pan out.

Here it was over 90 in the first couple of seconds, then down to 84 (it is sector 7).

Was able to get in a little time and get one clean lap. Probably won't be able to touch it again until next weekend - Hope I have enough time to do this awesome combo justice!

Nope, I've got nothing to teach you there...

You sound like James May turning up in his Ferrari

Oh no. I can't decide if I want to attempt this or not. I used to like this track when I could keep up in online races. But now the only time I see people running it, they are always the same people, and it's the only track they run, and I get stomped. So, my solution is to just ignore the track, which doesn't do me much good this week.

I'll probably make an attempt at some point, but I don't have much chance of keeping up.

I'm still glad to see this track used though, because I know so many people have been waiting to run it. Good luck to all you crazies.:D

first touch for this hell - 115 km without effect, got just 3 attempts to get past T2!!! without going off the track :scared:
really painful but this is a must complete combo

Yeah, it is easy to do....after my only 2 completed laps, every time I really pushed it, I'd gone off track every time by the end of sector 3. The best way to do it is to run a lap at about 50% to at least get a clean ghost to chase, then slowly increase your speed...after my first "just get a clean lap in" run, my second clean lap was like 12 seconds quicker and I was nowhere near the limit. After that, it's just hoping you can get a clean run....I can manage to get through sector 2 2.5 seconds ahead of my ghost but it always goes wrong.
