I was thinking earlier how cool it would be to have a GTPlanet registered email address eg. TheStalker@gtplanet.net.

Dunno how anyone else feels about this suggestion but I think it'd be really sweet to have the GTPlanet.net suffix at the end of my email address. Whether this was only available to Premium only members or even a (very:sly:) small fee was charged I'm sure it'd be popular.

So how's about it Jordan? Is this possible?

i also think this is a great idea
world wide recognition

I'm giving a thumbs up on that also and you can get updates on your subscribed thread and gt5 updates.

Good idea! I think AOL lets you make your own domain... not too sure. We Dont really have AOL in New Zealand. :indiff:

Isn't that why it's called America Online? :P Nah, we don't use it in Australia either.

I think this would be an awesome idea, but it would cost an awful lot, I think, or be difficult to maintain. At any rate, I'd get one.

Jordan, is it possible for you to do?

Cool idea. Maybe you could put your @gtplanet.net email address on your PSN Gamercard and that way GTPlanet users that don't have the 'GTP_' prefix can identify each other, make friends etc while playing GT5 (when it is released).

Does this not leave the site name open to abuse?

Surely you would have to have been a member for at least a year or two before you could be considered.
Last thing GTPlanet needs is some disgruntled ex-member going ape and posting all sorts of crap on the internet whilst using the name of GTplanet.

I vote against GTplanet email.

This is why I was thinking make it available to Premium members only or for a small fee. People with Premium memberships are surely less likely to do what you describe aren't they?

I do kind of see where you're coming from with minimum time as a member before hand though or even post count above a certain number (although this may lead to spamming).

Besides, when you go on other forums, don't you just usually use a pseudonym like you do on this site? And there would be nothing stopping you putting GTPlanet on the end of that anyway. It's very rare isn't it to have your email address displayed?

It would also serve as a good way of supporting your favourite website too if it meant the sale of extra memberships of if there was a small fee involved.

Anyway, as someone earlier pointed out, this might be too difficult to maintain due to costs or whatever.

Yes, it would be fun and neat to distribute @gtplanet.net email addresses. :) However, while it's technically possible and financially feasible, I do not want to take on the additional administrative and legal responsibilities which would be incurred from running an email service.
