Welcome back everyone to the GTPlanet WRC league, and this special series to commemorate 2 years since the launch of this fine rally game.

There will be 6 events, each taking place over 1 week. The events and classes chosen reflect the evolution of the game from base content, through the expansion and into the 2 DLC packs that closed out the games development. With some of GTPlanets favourite classes and rallies returning for what may well be the final series in the league (run by me at least). The series will begin on Monday 3rd of November, the exact 2 year anniversary date.

There will be no restrictions on car choice across the events, have fun, choose your favourites and enjoy the events the way you want to enjoy them!

Rallye Monte Carlo

Round 2
Secto Rally Finland
WRC 1997-2011

I would like to join. My hand/nerve issues haven't improved but I've enjoyed EA WRC immensely, So competitive or not I think It will be nice to give it the send off it deserves. 👍

Had my usual luck with the ice at Monte Carlo. Was feeling pretty good right up until I was nearly stopping on an edge and did a slow motion slide down a slight slope to terminal.

My finish rate on ice without a terminal is quite low.

These weekly rallies can be tough for me to find time for between the league's race nights and our own rally, but I will be trying to run them all. Will be going in with probably just 1 stage of warm up, so will be taking it easy and if I can just finish cleanly I will be satisfied, and a top 5 here or there would be a nice bonus.

Two stages into Monte and the experience so far is a good example of what is so frustrating about the game being abandoned in its current state. Had fun on stage 1, with some bad screen tearing in the village-y fast bits halfway through but not that big of a deal. Get to stage 2 and the first half is great fun, then about 3 corners after the bridge at halfway, the framerate dips horribly and feels like playing GTA Online on an XB1 and it just stays like that through to the end of the stage, but the second I cross the finish line it goes back to smooth framerate again. It didn't cause me to crash or anything but it feels kinda disorienting, and I think the only other time I've done that stage was last season in this club, so I didn't need any help from the framerate to feel uncomfortable and lose confidence.

Made it to the end with no big mistakes, just some little scuffs against a barrier or embankment and a few lock ups where I ran a little wide. Ran like a wuss through the snowy stage, high speeds and low visibility isn't a good combo when I don't trust myself or the spotter enough.

While it can be a little tricky to adjust to, the ice is so satisfying once you find a rhythm. I usually prefer naturally aspirated cars on the ice, but the Toyota wasn't bad.

I binned it on stage 2. Hopefully I can make up some ground restarting from the service as a few others have had issues too. So tough on the ice, why did I do this to us? 😅

How long are the rounds lasting for? I had a bereavement recently so forgot all about this starting.

Sorry to hear that Ryan, hope you're ok.

They're lasting 1 week per round. So round 1 will be ending tomorrow lunchtime (UK time).

One mistake on every stage. Dont know if it cost me the rally but it would've been a hell of a lot closer! Was fun though

not played this for such a long time and thought I’d give a last hurrah just to appreciate @MagpieRacer organising these so well, I’ll skip the tarmac ones as it’s not really rallying in my eyes 😃 not that I’m any better on gravel and there’s already some insane times being posted but oh lordy, it’s a disgrace what EA done to this , it’s just a fantastically good game and killed off by suits that just chase money. Never will a single penny of mine go to them ever again. Only a few days until Assetto Corsa Rally and from what I’ve seen it looks incredible (y hard)

Don’t remember doing wet in Finland before but this time it left a mark lol.
So many times just drifting, sliding far away from where I wanted to be and other times just dealing with mildly slippy conditions. Explored the forests more than once.

Was hoping to finish within a minute of @peniu but was far far away from his blistering pace once again.
Fun rally all in all.

Considering I find Finland absolutely disgusting to drive and, after every Croatia stage, Päijälä being the worst real stage in this game, I think this went average. :)

Would've been fun to have a close battle with Cheetack but maybe some another time.

I just couldn't get a flow going, chose the '99 Focus and it was just very sensitive. Should have gone Xsara or '01 Impreza and be in my stable happy place.

It's also the first League event I've done in this game with a wheel, so there has definitely been a learning curve from driving comfortably on a pad to having to physically fight a car down the stage. Lots of fun but definitely a very different experience.

You just beat me at Monte Carlo though :D

Happy with pace, but I had a couple offs as well and they should really rethink where they park "event safety" vehicles!

What wheel are you using?

Haha yeah. I'm just annoyed at myself 😅

First time with a wheel in rally or overall?
First time with a wheel in this game. I last had a wheel (that I used) over 10 years ago, was a Thrustmaster, didn't even use that much. Last proper setup I had was a Fanatec setup with the 911 GT2, Clubsport pedals and a GT Omega cockpit, used that mostly on iRacing but also Forza Motorsport 4, Shift 2, rFactor and a few others.

The last time I used a wheel with a rally game, properly, probably have to go back to WRC Rally Evolved, Colin McRae Rally 2005 and the various rally sections of Gran Turismo and TOCA Race Driver 3. Back then I had, initiailly, a Joytech Williams F1 FFB wheel on PS2 (which was absolutely amazing), for the likes of F1 '05, Gran Turismo 4, WRC 4, TOCA Race Driver 2. After about 6 months of having that wheel, I got my first job and then bought a small cockpit rig with a Logitech Driving Force Pro, that stayed with me for a good long while, into the GTR2, rFactor period. From there I then transitioned mostly to PC and upgraded to the Logitech G25 with the shifter and I had that right up until I bought the Fanatec 911 GT2 when it launched in 2010 or 2011 whenever it was, as I was at that point also immersed in the Xbox world and that wheel did the unthinkable feat of being compatible with PC, 360 AND PS3. Then moved house in 2013, had to sell the rig, dabbled with a Thrustmaster (forget which model, 458 Xbox wheel maybe?), which obviously wasn't anywhere near the standard of the Fanatec and I just didn't have the space to make it work how I was used to so barely used it.

So it has certainly been a while since I have raced with a wheel in a rally game.

I tried the Mini since I've never driven it for more than a stage here or there.

First 2 stages went okay with no real incidents and no damage. Stage 3 had a scare when I glanced off a tree but no real damage, and stage 4 wasn't very smooth. Paijala started off okay until I dipped a tire into a ditch cutting a little bit and hit something I guess? I checked the replay and there wasn't a log or stump or anything... It was a big hit so I got lucky not to get a puncture I think. Had a few more little mistakes along the way, then around 60% of the way through I started losing focus and got sloppy... was really surprised to see I wasn't further back.

A bit of a double edged sword having done Finland just last week in our league's club. The familiarity helped a few times because I recognized a dangerous spot and got through safe, but hurt a few times because it made me a little overconfident, and disrupted my rhythm a few times because my brain would revert to what I'd do in the other cars for a moment.

Rally was going so well! I always enjoy Kenya, it's by far my favourite rally! Stage 1 was superb, if I do say so myself! Decided that "nahhh I dont need a spare for the last stage". Well hit a bad bump and hit a tree square on. Surprised I didn't get a terminal. Did break my front right, so did the last 14km on a flat front-right wheel, which eventually broke and just on a rim :')

Kenya is one of my worst rallies so I just ran a recce of the first stage and sent it. Pace wasn't great, but only a handful of clumsy moments and no real damage so it could have been worse. Actually enjoyed a few sectors too, and I liked the gloomy setting.

Hello everyone,

Got the game from PS+ November. My experience in rally game is decent but with this one I'm still a noob. Only did 2 championship in WRC Jr and WRC 2 then a custom championship in RWD.

Decided I wanted to join your league and give it a try. Join the league on Sunday night just in time for the last day of Kenya event.

So I jump in a car I nerver drove to a destination I never raced. I must say Kenya is brutal. Did the whole event in one go and the long last stage felt like it was never going to end. Needless to say, I'm pretty slow, like really really slow.

So now for the current event in Central Europe, I'm trying harder with two practice run before running the event but to no good use. I did one minor mistake on all stages I run and my pace is absolutely not competitive.

Welcome aboard mate, hope you enjoy the experience

@Mc_Yavel i started just over a year ago with no previous rally game experience and I had a super steep learning curve.

Just keep getting familiar with the different locations and car classes and you’ll find more pace by knowing what to expect.
The competition at the top here and many other clubs is very strong so don’t gage yourself fully on that part.

I truly enjoy the break this game provides instead doing GT7 as my one and only.
Good luck with your progress and keep it fun 🍻

Pretty happy with my CER run, Thanksgiving week meant tonight was probably my only chance to get it done so I did just enough recce to figure out gears and sent it. Had one spin when I dipped a tire and one minor overshoot, and ran over a few of the little roadside reflector things, but otherwise trouble free. Been a while since I've driven the Fiesta for comparison, but the Clio was fun on these stages.
