With numerous early discussions cropping up around the OLR community, GTPlanet is volunteering to host Board Challenge 5.

GTPlanet is eager to take our turn hosting this event. We will create and maintain a dedicated forum for the Challenge, and we can provide hosting for replay files as well. GTPlanet has a large and efficient moderation staff to ensure a well-run event for drivers and spectators alike.

We're looking forward to discussing the format and arrangements with all of our friends in the world wide Gran Turismo OLR community. It's racing season - so let's hit the track!

Do you think there will be a section for actual online racing, using whatever software necessary? Perhaps some sort of match racing double elimination-tree could be used.

While I agree it would be interesting, I suspect that it will follow the same format as previous BC competitions. That remains to be determined, however.

Here are the fora I contacted this afternoon. I've posted a copy of the announcement at the following OLR boards:

Gran Turismo By The Numbers (GTBN)
GTPlay - French site
GTWeb - French site
Gran Turismo Italia Racing Network (GTIRN)
House of GT (HGT)
Gran Turismo Racing Point (GTRP) - replaced GTN.de
Gran Turismo X (GTX)
GoldJunkies
GTTimes
TORC Talk

If anybody thinks of others, let me know.

GTN is currently down, but we are in again and flirting with podium. :D
I noted that, which is what led me to GTRP. When GTN comes back up, please let me know. And until then, please feel free to spread the word.

LMAO @ boom

Good to see you Jean 👍

The last I knew, Racing-Line was determined to not consider itself part of the GT Community. As it is now, I don't believe they have enough active members, much less active drivers, to field a team.

As many of you know, when the last BC was held in the waning days of GT3, the GTX did not have enough active drivers to enter, and many of the remaining GTX/GTF drivers picked up rides with other teams. With GT4 OLR at the GTX running like gangbusters now, I'm pretty confident that we'll be joining our GT Community mates for this BC. ;)

BC5? OMG more wife trouble on the way then :D

👍 GTP for hosting. You guys know what you're letting yourself into yeah? ;)

I have the feeling we're gonna see some old faces here with the BC5! Cool!

I see no problem for you filling your own team at SoGT! :) We will surely do the same thing on GTWeb either SudRacing (SRT) or PricerWeb. Although, if we can build multiple team per forum, we will surely have 2 or maybe 3 teams running this comp! I just need a confirmation on that point.

The Spirit of Gran Turismo (SoGT) http://www.spirit-of-granturismo.de
is interested. If we are welcome, we try to get a team together.

A short info to the forum. We are the little sister board from GT.de. Most of us came over from GT.de.
Welcome to GTPlanet!

I tried to contact boards who have participated in the past or who run their own active OLR programs. These were just names I knew. We don't mean to exclude any group that wants to field a team - we may just not know who you are yet!

So please pass the message on to any groups that you may know who would be interested.

I'll try to get the forum set up soon so we can begin discussing the rules.

here we are too....

nice one Duke 👍

Glad to have you guys aboard!

We may wind up with more than 10 teams, which means that perhaps we'll have to flip coins to choose the set up for each round - last time there were 10 teams and 10 rounds so each team got to specify 1 scenario.

Well, that's part of what we'll work on.

How about just doing a few more rounds? Nobody said it HAS to be 10 days, especially now that there are more boards to join in. 14 days of racing sounds good.:sly:

But a typical team is 10 drivers. Either teams would have to get bigger, or some drivers would have to run more than one event.

The real discussions will start once we get the new board set up.

On BC4 and 3, for which I took part as driver and subtitute, we had to run in two different races. Why not this time again?

Oops, I forgot about that. I guess I should have known after competing in BC3 and BC4.:ouch:

@Mistral - In BC4 drivers each ran 2 separate events, for BC3 we each ran 1. I say we do 1 each this time, 2 was too much for me last time.

I'm gonna have to support that notion.

Two races per racer makes the board challenge more a test of time management than anything else. Ok, it's not that bad, but it is still one heck of a hassle to deal with 2 races.

My last time around gave me one race with 2 weeks practice and one race with 3 days of cramming to beat the deadline.

Also, I guess I should say it here and now.

I am interested in racing for the GTP.
However, I am not interested in holding the team back.

I will only fill a spot on the team if I can honestly hold a position through quality racing. 👍

Finally, good luck everyone.

I hope the gtp can host this year... It might help all of us to avoid rediculus crap like last year's enduro/sim tire affairs. :yuck:

yeah, I am quite sure that the gtp is the best place to host the challenge. 👍

I've already given my opiniion on two races in another thread. I'm with you guys on this 👍
