I'm happy to announce that GTPlanet.net has joined up with the JGTC (Japanese Grand Touring Championship) to help promote the series' first race in the United States at the California Speedway on December 18 and 19, 2004. You'll see the JGTC banners across the site at different times, so keep an eye out and be sure to click on them to help support GTPlanet and to show the JGTC your interest in the race! :)

Before I read the whole thing, the first sentence made me thing they were going to put banners on their cars. But when I kept on reading I finally realized what you meant.

Great news for the site. 👍

JGTC is the best. :D

I love it. They should show it on Speed all the time. I have heard that Speed will not be showing any JGTC any time soon. I have heard Spike TV is going to show it. Is it true??

It sucks so much they replaced the Skyline with the 350Z.

Yes and no, Yes because there is no GTR on the track, but no because Nissan has been known to use the JGTC as a place to test out ideas for their new cars. Remember the next GTR is going to use an FM chassis and an engine with 500 horespower, the same engine in the current JGTC GT500 350Z. Also the GTR in the JGTC races had been using a VQ engine not an RB. SO if you think about it Nissan has about 3 years racing experience with the next GTR's engine. Not bad at all if you ask me.

Thats great! Did you contact them or did they contact you? I'm hoping to make a trip down there for the weekend and takign some awesome pics :D

They contacted me...an excellent group of people to work with. 👍

Sorry, but the advertising has no effect on me......

I've been planning on going since the first press release came out!

Maybe we can have a GTPlanet meetup there!

So is that some type of organization, or what? What do they do?
It's a racing series in Japan. It involves anything from 911's to Skylines to MR2's. There are two classes, 300, which features cars around 350 Hp, and 500, where outputs soar to almost 600 Hp.

Cardude, the JGTC is the number one racing series in the Asia-Pacific, if not the best in Asia. The JGTC consists of mostly Japanese cars and even mostly Japanese racers. Names who raced in the series include Juichi Wakisaka, Michael Krumm, Satoshi Motoyama, Toranosuke Takagi (or "Tora" Takagi for short), RE Amemiya-san, and perhaps a well-known figure in the tuner car culture, Keiichi Tsuchiya. I still would have liked to see them race Laguna Seca, as us loyal Gran Turismo players do, but it will be very interesting to see them race a week or so before Christmas. Players, the JGTC at Fontana will still be an amazing race. So you HAVE to dig this, man. JGTC at Fontana with teaming up from GTPlanet, courtesy of perhaps the most powerful figure in the world, Jordan. Good show, mate!

Now we have to increase exposure to the general public of American racing by having this race on either live or same day coverage. But anyways, still a great deal. When it comes to the JGTC, you know what you're getting. You're getting real racing (even if the cars are downtuned), real drama, no green/white checker NASCAR-ism to races, international stars, and oh yeah... the lovely JGTC Race Queens. From Toshimi Horguchi to Yuuki Nishino. America's in for a treat. This is must-see action. I'd love to see some kind of TV or video coverage of this event. Well, I'm done here. Carry on.

WOW!!!! Make them put the GTP logo on the cars Goddamnit. *Spits* (The coach off Not Another Teen Movie)

Jordan, I have to hand it to you -- this is obviously the culmination of your hard work and dedication to GTP (and the GT community as a whole).

To me, the community is all about getting closer to each and every one of our personal GT racing dreams. Now that the JGTC is coming to the US, a lot of us are going to be closer than ever before to the cars we've been able to "drive" firsthand... ;) Besides, advertising here really gives the race series some "close to home" credibility, y'know?

Applause to JGTC USA for realizing that the GT community is a real network with a true passion and the purchasing parity to back it up.

That says all about the importance of this forum!

What is JGTC?
Sorry, I have no brains.
And that's a question from someone with internet access  I allways suspected there are lots of people who never wonder about the cars they drive in Gran Turismo.
And that while the rules of the class dictate so much the performance of a race car. Many probably think the LM cars are really existing cars too.
I think it should be usefull if PD added some description to some of the cars, as they did in GT2. Could be shorter then GT2, but at least some words about the race cars to explain which version they modelled.

amazing!!! great stuff Jordan, even if I dont get to see the races and stuff, its great to see what heights GTP has reached. and deservedly so.

I'll click 'em, oh yeah.

No JGTC here in Europe, but we've got GT and nGT, which were also covered in GT series :)

Anyway congratulation GTP!

JohnBM01... and perhaps a well-known figure in the tuner car culture
Well as for a few months ago, Keiichi Tsuchiya has officially retired. He is no longer racing in JGTC or any professional event at this moment. He is still doing his Best MOTORing/ Hot Version show and is still racing but he is no longer in JGTC. He used to drive the Arta NSX which just didn't do all that great.

He will no longer race in JGTC, F1, Nascar, and other professional events.

Yes he has race in Nascar, he lost because an American "accidently" knock him off the track. Seeing no chance in getting first place, he decided to drift his Nascar. He is that crazy! :scared:

He have also "drift" in a F1, there was a video clip but I lost it when I reformated my PC :(.

Anyways JGTC is awesome. When will they begin airing highlights on Spike TV? I heard they replace Speed with Spike TV. Which suck ass. Spike TV suck at doing racing coverage.

Yeah, they're doing really good this season but I like the Supra's more.

The only Supra I really love is the Woodone Supra JGTC from GT4 Prologue ;)
But I still like 350z's more :sly:

WOW.
This is a match made in heaven, if I ever heard one!
Excellent work, and I can't wait to see the JGTC on North American soil.
