This Virtual Stock Competition is similar to the one MrktMkr1986 set up previously except for this one is geared more towards the London Stock Exchange.

Virtualtrader.co.uk is the UK's largest Stock Simulation Investment Game and allows you to start of with a portfolio of £100,000 (Not real money!) with you to trade in what ever stocks you like under real Market conditions that you would expect to find in actual markets!

The main competition on the Virtualtrader website (VT_Prize game) allows you to win money weekly and for overall performance at no cost to us the users - all you have to do is play and hope your portfolio is the best ;)!

I have set up a GTPlanet league on VirtualTrader in the hope that many members here would join!

The following are the procedures needed to be taken in order to join the competition as well as general points.
  • Open the webpage here
  • On the Left Panel under Administration click open Account.
  • You are now presented with a 'Become A Member' option - which you should click.
  • Fill in the necessary registration details. For the Zip code you can also enter the Postal code for UK addresses.
  • You will then recieve a confirmation e-mail of registration through your inbox which you should open.
  • Once you are back into your account, go to 'Create your own League'
  • You will now be presented with a screen which allows you to choose the league you want to play in or create you own league. Under the 'specify the name' option type in 'GTPlanet.net'
  • You will then be presented with a password message box as this is a closed league. In the password field type 'turismo0'.
  • It will then ask you for your Portfolio name and description. For the Portfolio name put your GTPlanet.net username and decription can be anything you want! Please note that you can have more than 1 portfolio in the same competition but for simplicity sake it will be preferred if members only made one portfolio :D.
  • Click on your portfolio name to start adding instruments. This is done by clicking buy/sell which will take you to the FTSE100 index stock list.
  • To buy shares click on the one you would like to purchase in the list. In the following screen click 'to portfolio'. You will now have the option to choose how many shares you want (number value), or the nominal value of the shares you want (i.e. i want £23,000 worth of shares). Motivation means what motivated you to buy the share (Not really necessary). One Day order means the share will be reflected in your portfolio within the day and the 20 days option allows you to get the best value for your deal in this longer period. (Choosing a one day order is normally the more chosen option). Also note that you can only purchase shares to the tune of less than or 25% of the value of your portfolio as a whole.
  • If you sell shares you don't have you are selling short which means you will make money when the share price falls.
  • To access your portfolio from when you have signed in, just click 'My Portfolios' under Main on the left-hand side panel and this will direct you to your portfolios. You should also be able to view your VT_Prize game portfolio if you are participating in that competition as well!

The rest is pretty much self-explanatory. If anyone has any questions please pm me or refer to the help section on the website :)

I also wanted to give a months Free Premium access to whoever is leading this competition on the First of May at 12pm GMT but i'll have to sort that out with Jordan!!

Speaking of the original thread creator of the 1st, where is he? Just curious.

I was wandering the same thing, it seems that he doesn't come on much nowadays :nervous:

Sorry for this OT, my last one, promise.

Apparently, he does come on. I think we just aren't in the right threads at the right times.
Was only curious b/c his AIM name hadn't signed in for a while.

Jordan has also given me the go-ahead on awarding the GTPremium subscription.

So whoever is in Poll position on the First of May, excluding me will recieve the months GTPremium access.

Live4Speed has the highest return on his portfolio to date and has consequently won the GTPremium access.

Nice one ;)

I know, I forgot about it until X5 sent me an e-mail part way through the month, then the site went down and I forgot about it again.

But, but, you haven't done a thing! :D

I was thinking of changing the rules but i thought that would be unfair so for the next one i think i should add a new clause; that at least some shares should be bought in order to qualify! :D.
