Condensed GTMSA General Competition Rules
Note: For full General Competition Rules, please see HEREhttps://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=105179.

This race falls under the GTMSA GCR for Online Racing. All standard online rules apply including but not limited to:
  • No Cheating, Hybrids, Sharking, or running incorrect settings. Run the car I set up for you.
  • Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times. No shortcuts. This is endurance racing, mistakes will happen. But do not take advantage of it.
  • No wall-riding. It slows you down. It's also a good way to get a penalty.
  • Save some sort of proof of your race time and setup. I have had to ask for proof before, and it has cost podiums. Digital Pic, replay, video, anything that can show total time and settings used.
  • All entries must be received by the deadline, or will result in a DNS. Anyone wishing for a DNF and 1pt participation must notify the Race Steward before deadline.
  • Entrants must fully complete the registration form (ie. submission information) or risk penalties for insufficient information.

Registration form (Time Submission information) is below and must be fully completed. (Note: 1s penalty for each piece of missing information)

Important Announcement
I will be posting the next event on Monday, but I will give everyone a check of the results and the weekend to get in new/edited entries if they'd like to try another car. Post them in the interest/signup thread please. Also, if you will NOT be racing any more any of your test-cars, please tell me there too.

Don't you mean sunday, May 18th? Just looks abit off.

Yeah, I thought the cars I picked would be handicapped. And I was right. But I think they should still be the fastest ones. It will be interesting to see how the speeds of the various cars turn out...

You ask for a qualifying time on our submission list; how do I qualify?

So what exactly are we submitting here? Best times for each test car listed with each tire setup?

1 stint .. 10 laps only .. with any combination of : RS , RM or RH tyres .. its up to you which you use , either running with a hard combo in the hope of completing the ten laps without a pit stop or using a medium and or soft combo .

Or,

You could always follow the path of least resistance, and try and keep up with me! ;)

But only those that choose to release their burden, can follow that path!

Have a look at your photo Neil :) seems your too tired old mate .. it wont take much to 'keep up with you' :sly:👍

Times submitted. Off to suzuka for some much needed practice :scared:.

Andy

Ps. join the convertible cup here

Sorry for the plug!!

All Softs..... bad idea... :lol::crazy:

Time submitted, first running only 1.5 hours before the deadline! My runs were crap, between the gravel traps and gearing. Oh well, that's why it's a preseason event.

Times submitted.

Times sent. Btw, Chris, Pescarolo Judd HP is at 777 on my version (US) not 778.

Eracer

Both of my cars had the same thing happen. I didn't check, but I suspect that on the replay, it shows 778 hp. I believe the replay and quick tune screen round differently. This happens all the time in the WRS.

I submitted my time last night. Out of all the practice I did, I was only able to get two clean runs in because of the stupid AI (btw, I couldn't figure out how to choose their tires?)... and I still went slightly off a couple times and nudged other cars a bit. Luckily the second run was about 10 seconds faster than the first, which I did a week earlier (not used to the physics from playing ToCA3...). I also made the mistake of using hard tires in front instead of mediums for such a short race; would've made a few seconds' difference overall.

...of the stupid AI (btw, I couldn't figure out how to choose their tires?)...

When you first select your car it asks for AI level, tyres driving aids etc. The tyre choice you make there is what the AI cars use.

Andy

Didn't do any tyre testing, sorry!

But, hey! It's a Mazda! So I should be OK :)

Gotta find the GT4 disk, wherever it has found it's way to, so I can do some convertible racing. So I might do some running for this too, IF I get the chance.

Neil

OK, I know this could count as a double post, but what the hey?

Managed to find the GT4 disk, and slipped it into the PS3.

I found out two things.

1: I am seriously out of practice, but it won't take me long to get it back. I started the race in the RX-8, and basically it took me 4 attempts to complete the opening lap, but after 6 laps I was back at speed but scrubbing the fronts too much compared to how I usually do.

2: The RX-8 might be a Mazda, but it's a different kind of beast to the RX-7. Much more squirrelly out of the corners, probably because of the shorter wheel-base, And perversely is more understeery into the corners, again probably due to the wheel-base giving less weight over the fronts.

Not worried about the R8, I'll get to testing that beast when I can.

Neil

Awaiting the times and the details on the next Practice Round, Shotgun. :)

I sent my times to Chris anyway!
If he accepts them and includes them in the results great, if not that's OK too! 👍

They probably will be pityfull anyway, so what the hey?

Up-side is, I got some good solid practice in no matter what. And I'm pretty much up to speed again. Shame I don't like Motegi full course, but we have to practice somewhere.👍

Neil

Chris, imo the Bentley 8 eats tires much faster than either Pescarolo - almost twice as fast. Lowering the HP and Kg on the 8 would increase tire durability and would still make it competitive as it has better top speed than either Pesca (prolly due to the superior aero package). Of the three I tested; Pesca '03 & '04 and Bentley 8, I feel the Pesca '03 has the poorest braking and handling in general. (At those settings). But, that's just me :)

👍

BMW M3 👍 of the GT2 cars i tested the M3 has the most even tyre wear though on some tracks the fronts wear faster than on others .. very smooth and reliable to drive .

MAZDA RX7 👍 needs to run different tyre combos to get 'even' tyre life .. spritely and fun to drive though it gets a bit wild coming out of corners when its tyres are past their premium .

NISSAN 350Z :indiff: uses tyres like the RX7 though it wears them faster .. had to run a no stop harder tyre combo at Motegi .

MAZDA RX8 :indiff: eats em for breakfast ... might be suitable for the TYRE KING but not for this old bloke .

I think I could have made a no-stopper work in the R8, but was I pushing too hard if I could only make hard tires last two-thirds of the distance on my Viper? I suspect so.
