I don't know. I think Austin is cheatin' in GT1. 1'10.xxx in the Panoz? Really? Having the other Panoz, it seems a little unbelievable.

Even watching the video, it doesn't seem right. That thing seems like it's moving a lot faster than it should be...and 4th gear through the corkscrew doesn't seem possible. I mean, I know I'm not the fastest, but, holy crap! I don't think I could shave off 5 seconds off my panoz time.

Please, Shouden, cut me a little slack. I've driven for an awful lot of hours in GT4, and it does show in my lap times. The only way that I could possibly be cheating in that video is with weight fully minimized, which I assure you that I'm not doing and would make a very small difference regardless because it's already at -8%. If you're skeptical, you can click on the Youtube link in my signature and find videos of a couple of world records in license tests, in which it's quite impossible to cheat.

If you watch your own replay, you should see that your car is moving just as fast. However, there could be some optical illusion going on with the camera that reduces the frame rate and makes it look faster, which is what happens with strobe lights.

Also, what's "impossible" about fourth gear in the corkscrew? You're free to do whatever you want with a manual transmission, and if you test it yourself, you'll find that with the 230 (I think) (actually 310 :dunce:) gearing that I used for that lap, the car pulls strongly in fourth from 45 mph.

it's not impossible to cheat if you have a gameshark on not. I don't know. It could be my pride talking but, even with your extra weight and my reduced weight, a 5 second difference is crazy. I've been driving in GT4 for a while, too, but I'm still not that good. Well, if it is real, then excellent job, Austin. But, I'm still a little skeptical.

No, I don't own a Gameshark. Even if I did, what cheat would allow me to go faster through corners? It should be obvious that I have no more power or less weight, because if you watch your replay, you should find that the speeds that you reach at the end of the straights are more or less identical to mine.

Well, I'm not really looking to get into a big argument, so, I'm going to just accept you're much better than I am. Maybe traffic will even things out. But, good job on that fast time...almost as fast in that Panoz as the LMPs

Just like to state that I have no concerns over Austin343's pace, he is just that quick. It's worth saying that he has worked very hard to be as fast as he is, take a look at the 200pt A-SPEC section of the GT4 forum to see what I mean.

And anways, it is possible to beat him, as I did by nearly 1/2 second at fuji last year. See here :)

I don't think that there's any reason to call anybody a cheater here. It all boils down to how much experience you have with the game, track, and car, how much time you put in, and the driving skills you've learned and whether or not you're working on improving them.

Here's something that helped me go faster and race smarter. 👍

Yeha, I was just blown away by Austin's lap time. He's on a level that would take me more time than I have to achieve. And it does seem unbelievable to get the Panoz to go around Laguna that fast, but, And it would appear that only Austin has the ability to do that here. :P Anyways, sorry about calling you a cheater, Austin. And good luck to you in the actual race, although, if you spin out and stuff and get an awful time, that'd be fine too. :P

Thanks. :) And I apologize if I was overly defensive; it's one of my personal failings. I'll upload the first ten minutes of my race when the deadline passes. 👍

Damn, I did a time but totally forgot to send it :( Oh well. Well done to every who qualified. Now onto the race.

I don't think that it will be just the AI off in the sand at turn 6. I have been there at least 10 times during my qualifying runs.:yuck:

1) You want to go fast since its a qualifying lap
2) You know the turn is blind so you need to slow down
3) Its just before an uphill, so you want to go fast and carry your speed
4) You know there's sand, so you need to slow down
5) You know Austin343 doesn't lift going thru this turn, so you need to go fast
6) You know you're not supposed to drive on the rumble strip, so you need to slow down
7) You're driving a prototype with lots of downforce so you can go fast

SO, ONCE AGAIN, I'M IN THE SAND-TRAP!!:dunce:

Fogbound, was this with a pack? My guess is that if you and I stayed together and drafted we could do laps of 7 minutes and 30 seconds.:)

Lets Get Austin343 and Abud to lay down some times so we have something to shoot for.

They hold a huge bike race at LS every year, it was a week ago or so, it's called the "sea otter" ..first race of the year
