Track: Infineon Raceway - 2.52 miles (4.05km)
Deadline: November 19 @ 5p CST (GMT -6)​

Infineon, formerly Sears Point, takes center stage for this Round of the GTPLMS. This storied track is a tight course, with blind corners sweeping esses, and sometimes feels like your climbing or falling off a mountainside.
LMS competition has been heating up in the last week, with 3 new drivers in 2 divisions, points races are shaping up to be a fight to the finish.

Rules and Regulations

All rules, car specifications, race procedures, and regulations are controlled by GTMSA. All questions should be directed to the race steward (ICallShotgun) and answers will be given in a timely manner.

Any lap times discussed or anything able to infer lap times are strictly prohibited. A 5 second penalty will be assessed for each instance of a lap time being discussed as judged by the Chief Steward.
This being said, sector times, or T-times, are allowed to be discussed.

Standard OLR rules apply
No cheats, hybrids, etc.
Two wheels on track at all times.
Rumble strips are part of the track
Don't touch the walls, they slow you down.
You must run cars to the given GTMSA specifications as seen below.

Qualifying (Hotlap)
Qualifying will take place in Arcade mode-->Time Trial-->World Circuits-->Infineon Sports
Any tires are allowed (R1-R5) and any combination of tires.
TCS ONLY is available IF DESIRED, it is not mandatory
Gearing is free.

Race (15 laps)
Race will take place in Arcade Mode-->Single Race-->World Circuits-->Infineon Sports
AI settings will be 8-10 for ALL classes.
AI will race on RS tires.
Tires are limited to RH, RM, RS or any combination ONLY.
TCS ONLY is available IF DESIRED, it is not mandatory
Gearing is free
Tirewear is set to STRONG
Penalty is set to SPEED LIMITER
These races are long. Small incidents will occur with the AI. These are racing incidents and are allowed by GTMSA. Besides, if something bad happens, you're going to want to re-start anyway.

Can anyone give this a shot? I've been doing a lot of practice here lately and would love to see how I stack up (poorly I imagine!) with the rest of the world. Point me in the direction of a signup form maybe?

I hear the rumbling of engines approaching and it's a little scary since I'm laying face down on the asphalt in the middle of the track....kissing the white painted start-finish line! It's just a little ritual I've adopted each time I arrive at a new track.

Next, I get to my feet, turning so that I'm facing the Grandstand, while I slowly raise and straighten my right arm to point in the direction I'll be racing.....then I slowly turn my head to look intently in the direction of my pointed hand. I hold this pose for 30 seconds while I sink deep into my imagination where I picture 'victory' in my minds eye.

That's when I suddenly realize that the engine rumble I heard earlier has become a deafening roar.....I feel the vibration under my feet, hot exhaust rattles forcibly at my shins, sandy grit blows across my face as two cars whiz past my body. But, I don't move a muscle.....27, 28, 29, 30 seconds, it's only then that I break my trance-like state and amble across the track, jump the pit wall, pull my helmet onto my head, and get into my waiting black racing Zonda LM.

"Now, I'm ready to race.....let the games begin".

Have a banker race done in the Mac. Hard going on this track, what with RM/RH's on the car, and the dodgy AI tactics.

Don't worry Darrell, next time you do your little ritual, my aim will be better!

Well, I'm working pretty hard on this track. It's been awhile since I've driven here. I feel like a teenaged geek with braces out here. (not that I have anything against 'teenaged geeks with braces'....well, maybe just 'geeks' in general)

I'm .600 away from my 'pie in the sky' goal. I've come a long way from where I started, but this elusive 6 tenths has got to go. I know it will be the difference between Pole and somewhere else I don't want to be. Especially, after losing the Pole to that dreaded Sanatogen BMW McLaren by a little over a tenth in Mid-field. Rats!

I'm going to climb out of this Zonda and let it cool down while I grab a snack. Then I'm going to find out where this lost time is hiding......it's under a haystack somewhere out here.
 
Well, my car does not like this track, at all ! :grumpy:
It's as unstable as my ex :crazy:
Having a beast of a time just getting through the first set of corners. Seems I won't be in the points this week.
Oh well, back to it :banghead: :irked: 🤬
 
And you thought Darlington was Too Tough To Tame! :scared::sly:

As for me, I come into this round off what was a disappointment to me in the last round at Mid-Field. I was thinking surely my times were good enough to get into the points. But, I was wrong... :grumpy::banghead::guilty:

So now with a new round underway here in Sonoma, I'll try a little something with the car to see if I can pick up those few seconds to get into the cherished point-paying positions. :D;)
 
Ive completed all my laps in the 2 GT classes and .. and found the Nissan a real slug to drive .. had more fun in the Corvette which handled and felt like it had lots more grunt on this track { which i'm used to } .. than the lap times between the 2 show .

My favourite car to drive in this comp { when it started i thought it would be the Nissan .. how wrong it turned out to be } is the V12 BMW .. 👍 smooth , predictable and corners like a dream the Audi takes a lot more concentration to drive ; has too much power for the tight tracks and gets too twitchy when using different tyre combos rear/front .

Have finished 15 laps in the BMW , but will come back to it { hoping to get another 1-2 seconds out of it } after the Audi has had its run .

Havent completed qualifying laps with any confidence for the last 2 weeks .. but will be doing so for Infineon ..
 
Well, tell you what boys, Infineon isn't my favorite track. My driving style is not meshing well with all the linked-turns and that carosel is killing my laptimes.

Finally finished the Qualifying sessions for all cars, and I'm with J.R. on this one, my GTS Viper is so loose under braking the back-end just wants to swap w/ the front, i'm thinking of running the race backward just so it won't happen. I think the OAP Comedy Racing team is in for another victory there.

As for the Prototypes, wow, the BMW REALLY likes this track. and I HATE driving that thing (would quit the P1, but i made a commitment). Might even be enough to challenge the Audi and the 'rolo there. One of these days I'll get time to finish a few races, but already putting about 100 laps at Infineon for all cars, i'm getting to know the track, and we don't get along.

Well, finaly got the car around the track, and think I'm about 2 seconds off of pole :grumpy: Snuck in a banker race. There is a ton of time to be taken off that one. Tried one tyre stint vs another compound. Have a few more to try out and see how the times are in comparisson. Still lost in the gearing for this week, as per usual. From the looks of things, I'll be way back in the results.

:dopey: I JUST NOTICED THE DUE DATE IS THE 19TH.....👍 Cool, I was in a big crunch mode trying to get this track behind me tonight. This will give me a few more runs to figure out why I'm not getting anywhere with this Zonda in Grand Touring sports. I'm still giving up 2 to 3 tenths in the first sector, and consequently I'm that far off my qualifying goal.

The Race is turning out to be a real big question mark also....on 'race tires', a completely different driving style is needed than what worked in qualifying. And I have no clear indication as to whether this will be a one or two stop race. It is a tire eater though.

Grand Touring

I have not turned a wheel in my Grand Touring Camaro LM, but I'm expecting a lot of understeering problems and front tire wear. I don't think we'll have much of a chance at pole here, but we'll go for the max regaredless.

Delfino has finished at Infineon .. after many failed attempts in the Audi he finally managed to complete the racing weekend .. using R-'s / R-'s for the 1st - laps and R-'s / R-'s for the second stint . { he was later seen getting into his private jet for a quick trip to France for some pre-testing at Sarthe }
 
My RX8 times are in.

I wont be submitting times for the Audi R8 this week, after my Memory Card or whatever screwed up my times for it.
 
This Camaro LM doesn't look half bad in black. I've got it warmed up and we're backing it out of the garage....time to get this qualifying session in the books. I'm hoping that by some miracle, it's going to take to this track like it did at Mid-field. I'd love to snatch another pole away from those dreaded RX-7s.

After the first few laps, I'd say it's pretty good in sector 1. It seems to flatten out a bit in sector 2. The last sector is pretty stable and easy to control with RSS tires. I think I'm going to need to go 3 tenths quicker to be in the ballpark.

We'll try a little more gear and see if we can pickup the time.👍

Not ecstatic with them, but I think they will do. :indiff:

Not really had the time to devote to the usual number of runs, especially today.
The missus' birthday, so sitting down at the wheel may not have gone down too well, if you know what I mean? :scared:

I have done a tyre test at Le Sarthe in the Mac, and I am a little worried. Even with the AI set to +8 (not the usual +10) they are a right royal PITA!

You can get past them fairly easily, or at least I could:sly: , but they have so much more power than we will have, they just draft up behind you at the end of a straight. And then just keep coming and run into the back of you!
Usually right at the point you are about to brake!

I have managed only ONE complete lap so far, and then one of them, usually a Panoz, or the Merc, just punts me off the track or smacks into the back of me AS I start to brake for a chicane causing me to go beach-combing!

Maybe a drop in the AI level for the next race would be an idea?

I know that we don't have to win the race, but I would at least like to have the chance to complete more than one lap before having to re-start because I'm off the track through no fault of my own.

Tis a very technical course, after awhile I found letting off the gas just a bit positioned the car to where I wanted to be. Anyway times are in and I'm going to the next race. Good Luck everyone!!!

Had to run the RM's this week, as it seemed quicker overall than running the RS for the first stint.

Knowing I won't be in the points this week, maybe someone will be able to catch Neil and Andy this week :nervous:
