I just ran La Sarthe for a few laps in the RX7, it took three laps to get away from the AI's, but they're still catching me on the straights.

Off subject: I'm having problems with my shifter, if I'm in 5th. gear and go to downshift to fourth it goes to sixth gear first before I can downshift which really throws you off game. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I rebooted and sprayed all my connections down, it worked for a lap or so then went back to messing up. I sure don't want to run with auto transmission but I may be forced to, think I'll try a different car and track and see what happens.

Maybe a drop in the AI level for the next race would be an idea?

Given that Le Sarthe will be an endurance event, I think putting the AI on Racing Medium tyres would be a good idea. As for dropping the AI level, I will be running them on +10 regardless, I mean 6 cars all battleing for the same piece of tarmac, lap after lap, dareing each other to brake as late as possible for the coming corner ahead, now thats my idea of fun!:drool:

The idea of running B-Spec bob still makes me want to puke though, having Team-mates running half the race each and combining there times to get the final result still is a MUCH better idea!

Well, that race-prepped BMW V12 LM P2 car sure looked tempting.....and yes, there isn't much time. But, how could I say no? I've got time to do about five Qualifying laps and the Race.....so here goes "nothing".

The rest of my runs are done. I'll be sending them off any minute now. I frankly didn't spend a whole lot of time on the races. Infineon is so technically demanding that after 2 race runs on each car, I was pretty well burnt out. If the other drivers did similarly, maybe it won't be so bad.

So.....let's see????:scared: :)

East, old bean!

The problem isn't in the battling, or the tyres, or the length of the race.
We all should be, and in most cases are, used to that!

It's the idiotic behaviour of the AI.
They can run into the back of you at 20mph+ faster than you (because of the drafting) and punt you off into the kitty-litter or the wall, without them getting any penalties!

I have been tooling down to indianapolis at full chat (200mph+), minding my own business and getting the line right, and the Panoz Esperant just drafts up behind me, runs into the back right corner of my car and sends me into a spin into the barriers at 150mph+. I get a penalty, he just carries on regardless!

With the extra 100Hp(at least!) they have, and the crap un-realistic driver-modelling, it's not a case of driving carefully or battling, it's a case of watching the rear-view mirror and not using the racing lines into the corners. Just so they can use them!

I'm not whinging, or trying to make things easier for myself. I am stating facts, with examples, as to why the AI should have thier HP reduced.

Otherwise, it will not be a fun race to do, at all!

Yeah, When I'm running 'just for fun'....that's what I'm looking for also. I like the realism of banging fenders and swapping the lead throughout the race , if possible...now that's fun!

But, it can get a little nerve racking in a challenge though, especially if....when your tires go off......some 'Bozo the Clown' Ai knocks you off the track on lap 15 . That's not fun....that's annoying.:ouch:

But, I'll reserve judgement on that until I get to Sarthe......:)
 
my times have been sent in. man, that was fun:) I'm gonna love Le Mans.:sly:
