Would you Drewpy Balls guys be so kind as to post (or PM me) some splits with your RX7? Either Qualifying or Race it doesnt matter. I just want to know if its worth me putting a maximum effort in for the race this week or not. Thanks.

For the last three days I've been running the BMW Mac trying for a good time. After getting the time I was aiming for I decided to rerun the RX7...WOW!!! After the BMW the RX7 almost drives itself, what a difference. Now I know why Neil always runs the BMW race first, if you can master that thing around the track the RX7 is childs play.
My BMW times are about 10 seconds a lap faster then the RX7, but there are a few corners that the RX7 is much faster...go figure.
This has got to be one of the most fun races I've ever done. Like Neil I never get bored with this course. I've probably run over 200 laps in the last week and am gonna run some more. My BMW times are as good as I can get and I think they'll stand-up against everyone else....yeah you to Chris!!!

EDIT: East, I pm'd you some info that you requested.

Hey Drew, thanks for the Info 👍

Hey Chris, just out of curosity, why do the AI's have to wear RH tires? They're bad enough drivers on softs, which makes them horribly dangerous on hards. Maybe I'm just used to the JGTC where every race the AI's run on softs. Not only do they drive better but pitting adds another dimension to the race. Just wondering what the reasoning is.

I think you hit the nail on the head there Andy!

The AI wearing hards means they pit less often so making the race harder to win, in theory anyway.

If you were struggling to get into first place, behind a much faster car, all you would have to do is wait till they pit and you're past them. eg they're on softs that last 3 laps, we are on hards that last 8 laps - we pit 3 times, they pit 8 times - automatic win because of the time it takes to do the pit-stops.

This way, with them pitting maybe 4-5 times, the same as us, it's more of a fight to actually get the win.

My theory, and i'm sticking to it! :D

You got it Neil. It's kind of a challenge for everyone. We're pitting 3-4 times, so's the AI, and racing them at level 10 makes the race pretty hard to win (for some).
You could race at level 7 or whatever, but the experience is really lacking.

PS, thanks Andy for making me re-run the GTS race, i cut 18 seconds off my time. I know the GT BMW isn't going to be competitive this race. :(

I ran a GTS race with the AI's running softs and it was very difficult to beat the Merc, he was about 5 seconds a lap faster . He pitted every 4 laps while I pitted at 5. We were in each others face the whole race. At any rate thanks for the insight.

Chris, I'll try not to make you rerun anymore races. It was just another example of putting my mouth in gear before engaging my brain!!!
So back at ya, I'm gonna go rerun myself!!!

Was sort of planning to run the races at +10 instead of +7 or 8 anyway, this week.

Maybe the extra drafting will find me the time I'm behind Drew by?

You never know!

Neil

For my own part, I just had my second attempt at this race. I tried a 2 stop strategy pitting every 8 laps and ended up with the same result, finishing a lap behind the winning car in the race on Level +7. The first time I tried it, I had BOB go on Mediums but he lasted only 5 laps instead of the 6 to 8 that I hoped for. :(

I wouldn't mind having some words of advice from GT3Emperor as to what I can do to have the car keep up with the field.

For one thing CAM, only let Bob drive the minimum allowed (4 laps). He runs about 12 seconds a lap slower then I do so I keep him out of the car as much as is allowed. In some situations though you may need Bob to run an extra lap because of your pitting schedule. If it's more then 5 Bob laps change your pit strategy.

Point taken Drew.

Oddly enough, my first name is Christopher. Guess That makes me the second Chris in the series. :sly:

I suggest putting RH fronts and RM or even RS rears, and burn the crap out of them. Pit every 5 laps and don't worry about tire management. I hear everyone talking about running 9/10s or 8/10s, but i'll be d*mned if i don't run 11/10s every minute of every lap.

Is the deadline still the 30th of Nov ? .. or is it getting extended ?

Hi!
I ran the GT2 race yesterday with my Mazda RX-8.I'm sure that oldphart moved into my Ps2...
Here is the story.I ran on the track with A.I. level 7,on an almost clean track after I took the opponents over.ALMOST CLEAN TRACK...then I met the goddamn Ford GT LM Spec II. driven by oldphart...just after our second pit, done by Bob...We fought almost through one lap.In the corners I usually took over the Ford but in the straights he came on me just as fast as the lightning comes because of his higher horsepower and took me over just to fart dust into my face from his old ass....Slammed to my car in the brake distances for almost one lap.It was horribly hard but there was a race.👍
So thank you very very much my friend oldphart. It was a big fight.
Hope to see you on the podium.👍

Pardon my naivete'...but who, or what is this "Bob" everyone keeps refering to...???

Hey, CAMikaze! I guess we're teammates of sorts since we're both running the tire-shreader Camaros. I can't say much about anything, as I'm yet to turn a tire in this race.

I do realize that, due to tire wear.....we are just also-rans in this event. I do plan to out qualify them here  (pardon my arrogance)....but I have yet to figure how to get competitive speed out on race tires. I'm not going to waste a whole lot of time trying over and over knowing I'm probably losing a second or more per lap. That's 24 seconds in arrears for the race.

I might have a shot in the BMW V12 in P2.....if I don't exhaust myself before then.

I'll try to give you some competition there Emp. Was going to go w/ my time, but i might have to run this one again. ;)

Hey, I'm just mouthing off....don't do anything extra on my account....I promise to be 'no' threat here. Really, I'm just going to lay down like a little old lamb and get slaughtered. I'll let you have the first lamb chop, after they cut me up for the barbecue.:sly:

Since I'm 'so', not a threat.....what kind of first sector times are you running with your P2, GTS, and GT entries in qualifying trim? I can ask that, right? If not, please disregard my run-away curiosity.:)

'B-spec' Bob, the useless slob! Of course! :D

Yeah, you can ask that. I'll have to check my replays and I'll get back to you.

Geez, I have been running the Mac @ +10 AI for the whole afternoon. Just trying to get a clean race!
Been having real problems, and then took a closer look at the line-up!

A 901 Hp Gillet
A 800 Hp R390
A 799 Hp Toyota 7
A 796 Hp Merc
and
A 752 Hp Panoz
All driven by idiots with bad eyesight!

All against my 590 Hp BMW, driven by someone who HAS to play by the rules:eek:

I can, even on hard tyres, corner better than them (Well who can't?) only for either the Toyota or the Gillet to draft up behind me @ at least 20 mph more than I am doing and hit me up the backside!
Usually 'just' before the braking point into a tight corner, or 'just' before the apex of a kink!
It's a shame that the AI were programmed by 100 chimps, battering away on PC's.
The guys at PD must have thought that if they could write Hamlet, they could do programming too! Fracking idiots!
Or did they save money, and use those lazy bugger monkeys that spend all day in those hot springs, by mount Fuji?

Anyway! Enough b;tchin!

Gonna keep at it!
See if a little 'Gravy for the brain' helps!

@ Chris!

Is the deadline extended? or not?

Happy either way, but would like to know.

Neil

Nope, I don't believe that there is much of a reason to extend the deadline. I usually have about 2 hours/day to race, and i've gotten in about 15 runs total (4 groups), so including the full weekend, 10 days should be enough.
If, however, a public outcry (read: more than 3 people) want an extension, i'm not TOTALLY against it.

Any of you P1 Guys managing to squeeze 4 laps out of the Hard tyres?

Time Submission Rules
BOB Stint Laps
Shotgun, when we submit our times do you want to know what Bobs times were or just what laps he ran on?

Ballstothewall

You sure youre braking late enough? :)

Yes EAST .. Dels AUDI is doing a 5 stopper

Psssst .. dont tell BALLS ive bled his brakes

Are you using TCS Delfi? I've been driving without it and have only been able to get about 3 and a half laps out of the rears before they turn to cheese. The bumps down the long straights seem to punish the rears really badly.

EDIT: Well, gave TCS a try. It didnt seem to change anything at all, both my lap times and tyre wear were the same as when I wasnt using TCS  Not sure if thats good or bad. Guess I gotta find a better line down the straights somehow and maybe stay off the red stuff through some of those chicanes as they have some killer bumps that will wear the tyres down in no time. Maybe I should take a few tips from Bob as even he can get 4 laps out of the hard tyres lol.

Yep .. using TCS .. would still need it even if i could use super softs :)

Im still pushing hard for the 1st 3 laps .. taking it extra easy on the 4th lap

Theres a smooth line through most of the red stuff and one huge bump on the main straight to keep clear off .. gl east ..

Heading for the track right now

Ok, I managed to get a 5 stopper out of my Audi R8, had to run at 4 to 5 seconds slower than my normal pace to keep the tyres good though  I could get the tyres to last up to the begining of the twisty part at the end of every 4th lap, from there I had to creep around to the pit lane in 4th gear at very low speed to keep from spining, lost about 10 seconds every 4th lap, but managed to keep the car pointing in the right direction on MOST of the laps, had 1 or 2 spins though in my race.

I MIGHT do the race again as theres so much time left in it to get.

Props to Bob, he ran an excellent race, didnt spin once and held the tyres together very nicely 👍

I forgot to mention 2 things .. i hadnt actually completed 24 laps and i had reduced the HP to 877 .
Last night i ran the 24 laps and it was a mess { laps 1-12 ok but 13-18 very sloppy } .. woke early this morning to re-do my laps ; this time with 900 HP driving at 8/10ths .. taking it easy through the chicanes { the AUDI hates any bump } .. set some fast laps , but overall it was still a disappointing experience .

Looks like Defino will miss out on a podium :grumpy:

Worse news .. i havent done any qualifying laps :indiff:

East, Del, turn the wick down on the engine. I'm getting 5 laps (could get 6, but it's like ice-racing at the end) on RM/RH combo. The trade off is that i'm running the Norcold Dyson BMW at only 850hp instead of 904. It's something to think about. I do run TCS, and got a 4 stopper (every 5 laps). Might be TMI for my competition, but it's a friendly competition, and P1 isn't my strongsuit anyway.

Still having problems getting a clean (because of the AI) +10 race in the MacLaren!
Most are getting scrapped before the first pit-stop.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

But, having none of those troubles in the RX-7, I am glad to say.:D

Just chopped over 40 seconds off my previous race time, and two seconds EXACTLY off my fastest lap!
Finished 45 seconds in the lead!
Ran RM/RM all race 7/7/6 lap stints, and 4 for Bob!

Also started to phase in fuel management too! Ending stints with as little as 1 litre left in the tank! :scared:

One last morning of trying to get the Mac to work on hards all round, tomoz, then onto the quali laps!
