Can the all Audi podium at this years 24 heures du Mans be repeated in the final GTPLMS enduro round? After qualifying it looks as likely as it did on thursday at Le Mans, but who knows? Qualifying in GT1 and GTS was pretty close too and the standings are still very tight. This will be a real test of concentration for all drivers concerned, good luck!

Please don't discuss total race times or lap times. You may discuss stategies if you wish though.

General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPLMS sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (ABud or oldmodelt) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

IMPORTANT
For this season the track is defined as the area between the parallel white/yellow lines (see image below). This means that rumble strips no longer count as track.

• Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
• No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
• Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
• No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
• All decisions by GTMSA officials are final

• 8 points for finishing within 103% of race winning time
• 4 points for finishing outside 103% of race winning time

Just completed my one run. Im pretty happy with it. Had no offs at all. Had a few close calls with the AI as they recovered from their own off road excursions, but I managed to get the car home without a scratch on it. I was slightly slower than last year, but im happy with the time I got given im only running each race once this time around.

I noticed you were doing that, is that why you didn't get a time for Fuji - crash and out? Very impressive you can still drive that fast whilst being careful not to dent the car!

I've started this race several times with the BMW. First time, I was doing well until I tried to get by a slower Bentley as I approached Porsche Curves and barely dropped a tire off the track and that was the end of that. Ended up serving a DTP. Didn't finish that race after another spin while on soft tires meant I couldn't change my worn tires. I think I'll wait next time, to change tires. I can run 7 laps on Hard tires and about 2 on soft. (Actually, I could probably run 8 laps on Hard tires, but I'd be REALLY cutting it close with fuel. The trick is keeping all my tires on the track. The VI2 BMW is unforgiving and if you barely drop a tire, it's spin city.

I started doing that too. Albeit at a much slower pace than you.

You are lucky, 1080 is more style ( and don't it make you dizzy ).

Normally, endurance races at La Sarthe run thru the night.

So, to make our on-line races realistic, we need to simulate this.

Therefore, I propose that we all need to shut our eyes while driving from the T4 checkpoint until we get to Indianapolis.

may be just turn down the brightness on your set to "2" for 1/2 of your laps. Or wear sunglasses.

Got my LMP run in last night. Better than last year but nothing great. Tried to do GT1 today but things went from bad to worse. After 3 restarts on lap one was on 3rd lap and came up over the hill at Dunlap curve straight into the Toy. 7 RC which had spun out in the sand. 10 secs later back on the track only to be rewarded with a DTP. Then more than halfway through the race narrowly slid by a Mazda 787B spinout on Posche Curves only to be so relieved that I forgot to pit and had to go the next lap on nearly red tyres. Wasn't too bad because I ran out of gas after 1st Mulsanne chicane. So I packed it in.

Yeah, I've noticed that if you miss your pit stop, you kinda have to restart. I also discovered that the Panoz gets HORRIBLE gas milage. Still have the Pagani left to run.

But the Panoz race wasn't too bad. Spun the first lap but that was alright. Ended up battling the Pagani and McLaren for a couple laps, but ended up in second place. Did the entire Panoz race on Hard tires.

I have taken a couple of tries but it's a bit difficult to drive with two stiff fingers. They aren't the shift or throttle fingers but they are a challenge to work around.

Had a pretty eventful race with the Pagani. Everything started around lap 6 when I was prepping to go into the pits. However, the Panoz that was fighting with me slowed down way too fast and I ended rearending him and then tapping the pit lane wall, forcing me into a DTP and onto another lap. Finally, after pitting I fought with the Nissan GT-R a couple times until the Panoz pit again. He came out and separated the GT-R and I and, as I tried to enter the Dunlop Curve, he tried to steal my line and we both ended up in the sand. Luckily, though, he got more of the sand than I did.

Then for the last for laps, I decided to switch to Soft tires. And was working my way towards the line to start my final lap. and had to watch behind me for the CLK-GTR. A spin entering Indianapolis allowed the Panoz by me, but brought the GTR to my bumper. Fearing I was about to go a lap down, I pushed the Pagani into the Porsche curves and glanced back...to see a cloud of dust off to the side. Apparently, the Merc tried to take a wide line to pass me and spun himself out. (kinda like the Peugeot around the BMW at the real 24 Hours of LeMans) This however, allowed me to stay on the lead lap.

Unfortunately, I opted not to pit on lap 17 and ended up drifting and spinning on the final lap and ended up crossing the finish line via a DTP.

Yes, I am thankful and careful. the middle two (of the non-thumb digits) are sticking straight out (like the international signal of displeasure) so a wheel is out of the question. I drive a vintage Cabriolet and keep flipping the wipers on with my "wand"

Completed Race on second attempt, passed everyone before first chicane (first attempt got cleaned up at Tetre Rouge ).
Uneventful Race, except pinballed between Armco just before T4 fo no good reason ( must have got a bit jiggy with Rumble strip and lost back end slightly ). DTP.
Won Race, lapping everyone. AI @ +4 for this track too low I reckon.
Still happy to take the win though !!

Except I still have to deal with the CLK-GTR with the Panoz. Which varies in difficulty from track to track. Sometimes, he spins out when his tires get red like with Apricot Hill, or, like with LeMans, he doesn't spin out. In fact, the only cars that spun out in all three races were the Sauber and Minolta during my LMP race, but I think that was more the Sauber was right behind the Minolta when it spun and collected the Sauber.

I did my LMP and had to trail the leaders for a few laps. The AI were pretty brutal and an early no (wall) contact spin may have been a blessing as they all were in the pits when I caught them. This track is still a mystery to me so driving it is a blast trying to work in some decent lines.

Oh, yeah. Oh well, my races are done..and some of us are running the CTC, which will start it's 100mile race at Infineon tomorrow.

Once again I have been tripped up by the two week race!

I've already submitted my times!

GTS was un-eventful. My Dodge Viper can't stay with the leading Mercedes CLK Race Car, so I just circulate the track in 2nd place. The extra weight that I'm carrying limits my top end speed, so its just a matter of staying between the white lines.

GT1 was very tough! My main competition is the very very fast Mazda 787B. I actually can't stay with the Mazda during the race, but by the end of the race we are very close due to my pit strategy. The Mazda pits two more times than me, so I get a gift of about 50 seconds. The Mazda pits every 3 laps. Its too bad that it doesn't pit on lap 18 and give me a garanteed win!

I am finding that the AI is having problems with a number of corners, and has been driving into the sand traps. This is ok with me except when they come back onto the track just in front of me.

I was regularily having the following near misses:

On lap 2, the Toyota 7 would spin out just before the Dunlop Bridge, and would be facing me as I drive by!

Nearly every third lap, the Mazda 787B, the Mercedes CLK, and the Gillet Vertigo would spin out driving thru the Porsche curves since their tires were shot. This allowed me to catch the Mazda, and leave the Mercedes and the Vertigo behind when I was driving my Nissan R390 GT1.

My best race had four near misses. I had to abandon four other races due to complete T-bones. My second best race was marred by me T-boning the Mazda 787B on lap 18 as we were going thru the Porsche curves on the last lap. I got a drive thru to finish the race that otherwise was just about perfect.

Eventually, I was happy with my race times, so I don't know if I will go back and re-run the races now that I have another week.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about the extra week for this round too! Infact I've just started the results spreadsheet and was wondering why so few times had been submitted

The time I did was to be honest pretty rubbish. To cap off the total lack of pace I had I went and slammed into the Sauber C9 at the Porsche curves on the last lap and finished the race in the pits:tdown:.

I doubt I'll run the race again, especially as I've seen some of your times now. Enjoy the extra week everyone

The Toyota 7 that I was racing against was almost garanteed to spin-out on lap 2, so I could count on it and had to be ready to miss it going by at 100mph. I will check my replay to see if it was doing this every two or three laps the rest of the race.

The Mazda 787B was also conveniently spinning out every three laps in the Porsche curves. This I was watching for because it would give me a chance to catch up again since I couldn't stay with the Mazda otherwise.

I too missed the extra week deadline for this round, not paying enough attention I guess and not expecting it.
I was also concerned reading some of the Race reports I had the wrong race settings but I have checked and everything spot on.
I do not know what problems the AI might have had in my Race as I barely saw them again after the initial passing pre chicane 1 except to lap them.
There must be quite a difference between the GT1 PAL / NTSC AI +4 programming ?
Despite being early with submitting times I will not be re doing race.
It is possible I might get a clean Race but it was quite tense lapping the AI as there is always scope for disaster !! so I will quit while I am ahead
