Times sent in.
@ ICallShotgun:
will there be another tire test?

Only got a couple of runs in this afternoon, it started out very rainy today but cleared up so I went out for a little drive. Anyway got some times to submit although not very good with the little time devoted. It'll be different next week cause I won't have JGTC to occupy my wheel time.

Glad I did my laps yesterday when it wasn't raining . . . :)

(I'm just padding my post count so I can put a dog picture up 👍 )

Times in!

Only had time for one complete run in each car, tonight!

That being said, the Toyota was a complete darling on mediums till lap 9, then it went to pieces. However with hard rears on the lap times actually dropped to beneath my testing times from a few weeks ago, and it handled even better than with mediums on.
The snake was a totally relaxing drive, very close if not slightly better handling than the RX-7 LM we use in the JGTC.
The mediums lasted the whole race, and I think with a little bit of a smoother drive from me I could have gotten 12 laps out of them.

Chris doesn't say we can't discuss times so here we go!

Fastest lap in the GT-One : 55.6xx
Highest speed seen (un-assisted) : 218mph
Highest speed seen (assisted) : 226mph

Fastest lap in the Viper : 1'02.925
Highest speed seen (un-assisted) : 186mph
Highest speed seen (assisted) : 198mph

Bring the results on!

Neil

Sorry,Chris for my poor results...Ran it twice because of the other big series...
But from this point I am here totally.👍

Damn it!

I knew I had to run this more, but RL just got in the way, as did the final round of the JGTC (which was a bust, but I had to give it my all).

Lots of time for the next test! :trouble:

:D Neil

I think i will have to try harder next week i only ran this race 3 times i am definately going to come back twice as hard next week

:scared: :scared: :scared:

i know that is a little late, i run the HSR test just to see where i'm standing and holy crap, i'm in trouble

for the R8 my time was 9:54 dead last and for the STI 12:41 dead last again, both with RS and one pit stop, is there any way to fine tune the cars on the arcade mode? i've never used this mode before..

Welcome to the GTPLMS
Preseason Round 2:
GTMSA Open Test Session 2 - High Speed Ring (10 laps)
HighSpeedRingTrackMap.jpg

PreSeason Round 2
Track: High Speed Ring - 2.49 miles (4.00km)
Length: 10 Laps ~ 25 miles (40km)
Deadline: April 15th @ 6p CST (GMT -6)

Time to show what you and your car is made of. Welcome to Open Test Round 2 - High Speed Ring. This course bears it's name well, with all cars approaching their aerodynamic peaks at the end of this high-banked, extremely fast track. In Round 1, the drivers got used to their cars. In this round, we'll get used to tire wear. All data gathered here can be used by both the drivers, and more importantly, by GTMSA officials, for homolating the cars as testing continues.

ICallShotgun, how did you get that time you got in prototype?

Hey RACECAR!

You could have just cut the relevant section of the post out, you know!;)

Neil

Here's a little tip Danny!

In short races, pitting is not advisable.:dunce:
Using RS's to get great lap times, only to have to pit was the reason you came last! You should have used RM's and used some tyre management to stretch them that little bit extra needed.
Each time you pit, it costs you between 35-40 seconds even if you don't add fuel.
And there is absolutely NO way that even using Sooooouper Softs (57 varieties, don't you know) you would make up even 35 seconds in a 10 lap race.
If you let the game top the tank up you are also losing the 'weight loss advantage' from fuel usage also!

That's a newbie mistake you made, and as such, needs to be learned from!
Here endeth the lesson!

Neil:)

thanks Neil, i used RS because of the rules and i didn't add fuel, also the AI cars don't respect your line making it harder to maintain the line with them behind you..

What rule?

The rules stated RH,RM,RS's or any combination.

No-where did it say to use only RS's, just look three post's up if you don't believe me! ^^^
or here,

As to the AI not playing fair...........What's new?

Also, don't be insulted by me saying you made a newbie mistake!
You did, and I was trying to be helpfull.
Sometimes, my sarcastic sense of humour shows through in my posts, and people that know me, know this.
That being said, I have been a respected member here for over two years, and you have been a member for a whole week!
So I don't think the 'newbie' label is uncalled for, or unfair.
'We' (as in the great un-washed, of the GTPlanet) are generally a friendly bunch, take time to get to know us, and things will become a lot clearer and friendlier
If someone points out a simple/obvious mistake you have made, then they generally do so to make your participation easier and less frustrating.

@danny12: Neil's one of the "old guard" (no, no jab at the age), and he's one of the fastest buggers around here. He is right about the pitting thing though. for the season, you will have to pit 2-3 times per race (more during the long ones), but for the pre-season, it's just not advisable.

@Neil: Nice to see someone's taking care while i'm playing at the racetrack RL. :)

@RACECAR :) I'm just that fast! :). Seriously though, in Turns 1 and 2, you DO NOT LIFT. go through full throttle. Into 3, don't brake until you get to the over-pass. Brake well into turn-in (I'm a late braker), and full throttle out, just hitting the rumble strips Drivers Right. Into the Ess Curves, you should start braking when the rumble strips Drivers Left begin. Accelerate well into the left-hander, and don't accelerate when you "think" you should, hang back for a split second. This will give you a huge launch into the 180 degree turn. Here again, don't brake until you're under the bridge. Going through this turn at around 115mph - 120mph, mash the gas as soon as you're 1/2 way through the corner (look for the corner station Drivers Right, this is 1/2 way). This will give you the launch you need down the LONG frontstraight. The biggest keys here are corner exit speed. Slow in, fast out.

Hey RACECAR!

You could have just cut the relevant section of the post out, you know!;)

Neil

oops! well, when I'm sick and tired, that happens.:)

@ICallShotgun: Thanks for answering. seem like on some parts if I accelerate quickly, I could hit the walls or go off the track.

"Mash" the gas :) :) :) Either you've spent some time in the South, or NASCAR is having its effect! When I first moved here (I'm a Yankee from Pennsylvania), that was one of my favorite new words to use!

@Neil--Man, you're awesome! As a rookie/newbie myself, the tips, and general helpfulness, are most welcome. 👍

I'm glad to be a part of this series!
