A Perfect Circle
Tool

Spot the common factor?

I almost went that route, but I just couldn't deny Pink Floyd....

;)

I've got a load of 'Floyd albums that I need to set aside some time to listen to and appreciate. If I'd have listened to them already then my choices may have been different. 👍

Only one's I like up there is Metallica;Pink Floyd;Tool;Dream Theratre;and Led Zepplin but I have to go with Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin.

Don't knock something you haven't tried. Dude...

My votes went to RHCP and Pink Floyd. :)

Who says I haven't tried it?

I'd advise against discussing necrophilia any further than this. People have had stiff warnings about discussing that subject here before, and even though I know you're only messing around, it's safe to steer away from that subject. ;)

Metallica and Pink Floyd are leading. Pink Floyd higher vote though.

Actually no. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have more than Metallica.

Although they aren't my favorites, they are my favorites of this group:

Pink Floyd (which is thankfully beating the Dull-Ass Chili Fluffers) and Jimi Hendrix. Maybe on another day, I'd have picked Led Zeppelin, but today's not their day.

Jimmy Enslashay

Stiff warnings, huh?

Wow, I didn't know dream theater were so popular. The lead singer use to live a couple blocks down from me. His daughter and my sister would often play together... weird.

Floyd and either RHCP or Tool. I find Tool has alot of songs I generally dislike, but then a few that I can't live without.

Van Halen.

The voting is close right now! Only 13 hours until the polls close, so if you have not already voted, please do so!

From that list I like Tool the best, but what is wrong with you people? I'm not here for a month and U2 doesn't get four votes?

Disappointing, frankly.

Frankly, I think U2 is a very overrated band, but that is a whole other topic for discussion.

Klostrophobic
I'd say they're underrated.

I'm with Klos on this one... I saw them live in Ireland, and it was an amazing show... I still pull out "Joshua Tree" and play it from time to time...

;)

Well, the polls are closed and, well, we have a lot of ties.

Tied for third with 10 votes each are Van Halen and Pantera.

Second goes to Metallica and Tool, with 13 votes each.

And in the tie for first, with 15 votes each are Pink Floyd and in an unexpected finish, The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

So, is anyone interested in a second poll to settle these ties?

I'd only do a poll between Floyd, Chili Peppers, Tool & Metallica. But yes, a tie-breaker round is required. 👍

may i ask why Superjoint ritual has not been included in this thread? You have the loser bands like Pink Floyd who are blantantly ripping off hard working bands (SJR) and passing it off as there own

How the hell are Pink Floyd ripping off Superjoint Ritual? Floyd were around during the 60s/70s, probably even before your beloved Phil Alselmo (or however it's spelt) was even born!

Oh, and why aren't SJR on the poll you ask? Maybe because no one even nominated them (or even thought of nominating them). They seriously aren't that good...

I care to disagree, SJR has been going for a long time its obvious when you compare their styles that pink floyd has borrowed (or has been influenced as youd like to call it) their style. Since SJR has not been nominate id like to put them up for nomination although it would be unfair to the other bands to compare them to SJR

What the hell are you on? Okay, let's stop and have a look shall we. Superjoint Ritual's first album came out in 2002. Pink Floyd last album came out in in 1995, and that was a double-disc live set anyway. How can their musical styles be influenced from by a band that released their first material 7 years after Floyd's last album?

If you can answer that, I'll walk to London. 👍

mmm well according to metal-archives.com

superjoint ritual have been going since 1992, thats 13 years right there

start walking....
If you read what I said, I said "album". Album as in publically available material from a band, not demo tapes that only hardcore fanboys have bothered to dig up. Now I'm just going to ignore you as you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
