I'm getting new rims for my 98' Trans Am. Problem is I don't know which of these three to get. My family has mixed opinions and my friends do too. So I thought I'd ask GTP which rim do you think would look the best on my car.

EDIT: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2378680&postcount=1727

There's a pic of my car in that post. ImageShack won't work right now. Also I have a ram air hood now, It's WS-6 Style.

The car is red if you didn't look at the pic of it.

Looking at the car and its color, I'd say stay away from the Z1's. Black rims would work with the car if they were all black, but those Z1s are only black in the center.
So, Z2's or Z10's.

I agree that they would look better all black, or all silver, rather than a bit of both, but the other two rims just arn't that nice imo. I'm not a fan of thoes styles.

I like the Z-2's they remind me of BBs rims, i did a really bad photoshop in about 30seconds to give an idea of what they look like.

I like all three(your car, too. 👍 ), but yeah, I wouldn't put Z-1 on a red car.

This thread makes me want to go out and buy a Trans Am......

I'd have to say Z-2s my friend. As someone who is a pretty big F-Body fan, I've seen more than my fair share of cars with these styles of wheels, and the Z-2s IMO are the best-looking of the bunch. That said, the Z-10s aren't too far off in style either, however, I've seen that style more often than not on Camaros, and we wouldn't want to do that to a Firebird.

If you do want black rims, may I make a suggestion? I quite like the new Dale Earnhardt Jr. Line at American Racing, and this wheel should suit your fancy:

However, those wheels only come as small as 19", and IMO that is a bit big on the F-Body. However, there is an option: Jr. will sell you a pretty nice wheel down to a 17", which I would say is a pretty reasonable size for a late-model F-Body...

Problem is, there are a lot of good choices out there...

IMO, 17"s are too small for the wheel well, especially if your going with a low profile tire. The only 17" rim I would put on a GM F-Body would be the chrome SS/ZR1 rims:

I would say Z10, because it does not look over the top like the other 2, but that is what I reckon.

Z10. It looks... The best. I think fewer spokes generally look better once you get into that style of wheel.

I voted for the Z1's as in my opinion red and black go together like paper and glue.

Do to the fact the Z-2's were the most popular in the poll for awhile, my girl friend likes the Z-2's best and YSSMAN's point about not making it like a camaro; I've just bought the Z-2's. Also I just respect YSSMAN's opinion alot because I seem to agree with everything I see him say is ugly or good looking, so yea.

If anybody has an idea where I can get a cheapish tire that actually has a treadlife warranty, I'd appreciate it if you could point me there. So far I can't find a better tire than 40k mile tread warranty at $187 a tire. That is at tire rack.com. The tire size is 245/40 R18

I'll take some pics of it when i get them and put them on so ya'll can see the new rims on it and the WS-6 Ram Air hood I have on it now too.

If it's black, get the black rims (Z1s).

Otherwise get the Z10s.

Why do people like black rims so much? They're gaudy and mega ugly in my opinion. Go with the Z2s, dude.

Not sure what you mean about the tread warranty but I know these are very good tires, as long as you don't need to drive in the winter.

Of your three I like the Z10 the best. It still has a treespoke design, which almost always looks cool, but there are fewer spokes, and the spokes are thicker and look stronger. Stronger is appropriate for your car. The other treespoke has lots of them, and I think it looks too "fancy" to be on a Trans Am. Then the black five spoke is just annoying. Everyone has a red car with black rims. Avoid that. I think the shiny, chunky Z10 would look fantastic on your car. Of course, it'd be even better if you had some nice brakes to show of behind them...

Considering none of the wheels posted is actually anything that would be considered a decent wheel, I'd stick with whatever suites your tastes. Note the "simulated" 2 piece design, and the fact that it's a discount-company (like almost every other company on wheelmax), meaning it produces wheels in the cheapest fashion. They're poorly Cast Aluminum wheels weighing an ungodly amount, and really won't do a thing for the performance of the vehicle. If I had a vehicle lacking track performance, like your Trans Am, I'd go with something lightweight to try and counter it's already bloated body weight.

Those look nice. I found some tires at a local tire dealer that'll work. The guy there said that the reason most of the tires I'm looking at don't have a tread life warranty is because of the type of car that they are going on. They won't give a warranty cuz they know I'll probably burn the tires up real fast. The ones I found are some Khumo's that are too expensive to break my entire wallet.

Well what would have you suggested? I don't know a crap load about rims and went with what seemed to be ok rims. I know they aren't the best, but I can't afford and never will be able to afford the best until I'm out of college.

I wouldn't bother buying cheap crappy wheels at all (not rims, they are called wheels) then. Just stick with your stock wheels and use the money to buy damn good tyres instead. All those wheels look like ass and I bet they are either just as heavy or heavier than your stockers.

Either wait till you can afford good ones, or look on ebay for some nice light used ones. Just do a little more research than visiting some big brand site, i'm sure you can find some actual good wheels.

edit: do you even know what your cars wheel offset is because all those wheels you listed have different offsets. Also what the stud pattern is, although all of them are 5x120 I think.

I didn't know these were crap wheels apparently. Thought they were ok wheels. I knew they weren't the best but I didn't think they were some extremely crap wheel.

I already bought the wheels. There's no going back now. Before I bought them nobody said anything about them being crappy or anything. So I guess we'll just see.

On a side note why are they not rims but wheels instead? Thought both words refer to the same thing.

The stud pattern is 5x120 and I'm not 100% sure on the offest but these wheels are tested and garunteed to fit or I'll be able to send them back and get all my money back.

EDIT: You guys keep saying you think they'll be extremely heavy. What is the maximum wiehgt in your minds that a wheel can be? I know I sound stupid asking this, but why be quiet when I can learn something that may help me in the future.
