Good evening, folks. Is there anyone here who has firsthand experience with hybriding in GT5? If so, please PM me. I have a few questions that have been impossible to find answers to between the restrictions on free speech, dead links, and advertisements.

Meet me tonight, behind the van down by the river...

PM JonnyP, he's done several. Not sure if there's internet in Alberta, though... :sly:

My heart is still in Calgary, Lake Louise, Banff and the Columbia Ice Fields...but my body is back home!!! Looks like some good news on the GT6 front, can't wait for December 6 now. Online looks to be vastly improved, in setup and features anyway...:)

Looks like you figured it out Marcus but if you need further help or someone with vast experience the guy to talk to is Ridox2JZGTE. I hybrided first time around but I just don't have the time this time around. Rido knows all there is to know as far as I can tell and he's made me a few cars, mostly motor swaps to get the proper sound.

Yeah, but I'm still doubtful on the physics. I had a proper go on the GT Academy demo again, & have to say my first impressions of it were spot on; I really don't like the physics or feel through my G25 much at all.

Also, the graphics seem worse to me too. There's much more flickering/tessellation on the tracks & track side objects, like when we went from GT3 to GT4.

:nervous:

^ I think any graphics issues will be resolved in the final build. The demo gave them a chance to flesh those out and they should have time to get it tweaked. I thought overall the graphics were improved and felt more natural but there were some frame rate issues which is my major concern. It wasn't a giant leap in quality but still an improvement, especially on the dynamic time track where the shadows really felt right.

The physics are different and almost a little easier to control. Some won't like that but I think it well help to keep races cleaner as drivers with lower skill will (hopefully) be able to handle hairy situations a little better.

I did want more out of it but I think it's most important that they don't do anything too drastic and break something or fundamentally change the game. I'm far more optimistic about the new game then I originally was but I know to keep my exciting reserved when it comes to PD. :indiff:

I'm not paying $$ for another game on a dated console. If GT6 comes out on PS4 somehow, I'll get it. Otherwise I'm skipping it. Might give the next Forza a try or just stick to iracing.

...snip...

That's my feeling exactly. I don't expect it to be drastically different in many ways from 5, but I am looking forward to more features online including the whole practice/qualifying/race type of set up, new tracks and cars, ongoing DLC etc. I liked the new physics and I'm excited to see the new "hardcore" mode which I think was referring to the tires but I'm not sure. Just from what I've heard so far there's more than enough new stuff to keep me going for another round waiting for the PS4 version.

Still awaiting a little more feedback on your new wheel Brandon.

I read an article where it was mentioned by Kaz that GT7 for PS4 is going to extract all of the PS4's potential.

So doubt we will see another GT game for a year or so. Highly doubt that GT6 will be any different if offered for PS4. If it even offered.

Provided the history of GT releases, I wouldn't expect another edition for at least 3-5 years. I'm not being sarcastic, either. GT has forever released their first title for a given console, and then simply updated and modified that software for their second release on the console. GT also typically doesn't release its debut for a given console until said console has been on the market for 3+ years. GT6 is a modified GT5, much like 4 was to 3, and 2 was to GT1.

PS1(1994) - GT1(1998), GT2(2000)
PS2(2000) - GT3(2001), GT4(2005)
PS3(2006) - GT5(2010), GT6(2013?)

I rounded the December releases up to the following year, as most of them weren't available until very late December. Given the pattern I wouldn't expect GT6 to be released on the PS4, much like GT2 wasn't released on PS2 and GT4 wasn't released on PS3 despite their release dates being close to the next console release. After GT6, I don't expect another title for 3+ years. Who knows.

^Yeah, I don't expect a GT on PS4 soon. But it's gonna be 7 years since the launch of PS3. I'd rather be playin on modern hardware when I have a choice. Yeah, I'm a snob alright.

...or just stick to iracing.

If only I could afford a new & decent PC to play iRacing on, you probably wouldn't see me on GT ever again! :D

That's what I thought when I got it, but in some ways iracing is too serious sometimes to be entertaining. There are no pre-race shenanigans, no going through finish backwards, no borrowing some crazy drag cars from he-who-must-not-be-named; and people generally take it much more serious and have bigger and more fragile egos. It's fine if you want to just race, but you gonna have to go into private leagues to get a bit more fun, if you can find such a league. The success of the latter depends on how many of your buddies are already on there.
All-in-all, console sims are a good mix for a fun racing-related activities, iracing cannot replace it completely.

Exactly why I haven't even turned a lap on iracing. Custom PC built and own a subscription. However, enjoy GT and the additional social aspect.

Lately, I do turn laps, but alone. I do like the physics and the track selection.

That sounds much more like my kind of thing, everything that is apart from the bigger egos. The only thing I'd miss about GT is Shuffle racing, the challenging handling of stock cars, & the Nordschleife.

The trips and wheel have been dismantled and boxed. Probably a good thing, it needed reorganized and had become a tangled mess of wires. Good chance to tidy it up and make a few modifications. I'm moving this Thursday and the cable is already hooked up at the new place so hopefully I'll have it back up and running by sometime next week. 👍

Hi Guys,

I like the sound of your setup, my skill level is good but not near a lot of the guys online, i find a lot of clubs very snobbish, i.e smoke from tyres is frowned upon, i feel as long as you drive clean, no shortcuts, no intentional crashing/blocking then your style doesnt matter, its not real life its a game for heavens sake, we all play to enjoy ourselves. and no im not a drifter i just like to drive on the edge, possibly my downfall.lol, I would be keen to race with you guys and see if i fit in with your skill level, please feel free to add me on ps3 my psn is jamsy.

cheers guys

i have a g27 and i found the feel on gt6 a lot better, just seemed like more control/feedback but until we can drive various cars its hard to tell, the elevation changes/body roll needs turned down a little but i feel it does add to the game play and when right it will be a good addition to gt6, graphics were better in some ways but worse regarding flicker etc, but im not too worried with it being a demo and expect this to improve, but lets be honest gt5 rung a lot from ps3 so theres not alot more they can do imo which means in graphic terms i dont expect a lot, but on thing i will not forgive is the sound beinbg rubbish ,in this day and age theres no excuse, i play from bumber like most people where the sound is rubbish.

The PS3's seem to be up and operational. I did a brief test and everything seems to be in order so I'm going to try to get a room open tomorrow evening and see how it all works out in its new home. 👍

Anyone else gonna be up for some shuffle racing this evening? I should be on around 7:30pm EDT or so.

I'm logging on now, doesn't look like anyone is on so I'm gonna hop in a random room. Feel free to follow me in.

^ I should be on around 7:30 or 8. Had a minor problem with the rig last week but it should be fixed up now.

I don't see anyone online so I'm gonna hop in a shuffle room, feel free to follow me in.

I might make it tonight if the promised severe weather doesn't knock out the power.

I'm going to attempt opening a room tonight around 7:30-8pm EDT, feel free to join if you're around.
