GTR Clutch?

Hi all,

Havn't been on GT in a while and upon loading up the beast I noticed one of my favourite cars to drive and race, the Nissan GTR, no longer has a functioning clutch. It's strictly sequential. What's going on there? I know it doesn't come fully manualised IRL but I think for the purpose of GT we can let it slide and more importantly let me use that 3rd pedal which cost twice as much as the other 2. Using a G27 and no other issues with other cars apart from GTR's. I am Tres' mad as it has effectively sucked the fun out of all 6 bajillion variants of GTR.

Like you said, only the R35 is auto only IRL. However, GT is a sim game. Sims try to be as accurate as possible, right down to transmission on the car. If you have an H pattern wheel, you can still use the clutch and treat it like a manual. The thing with that is that if you use the cockpit view like I do, then it would be kind of weird if you use a shifter and the guy in game uses the paddles. If there was a manual version of the R35, that would be in the game instead of the auto variant.

What he said ^. Especially for me, with my OCD, so I must use whatever transmission is on the real thing, right to the point of putting the shifter to my left or to my right side.

What I don't like is how PD didn't model the transmissions properly, so some cars with an auto or DSG gearbox would react to clutch input, which is totally unrealistic.

I think the reason some do and some don't allow the use of the clutch, depends on whether they offer the option of a manual gearbox in real life.

Personally in future versions of GT, I would love to see trim and transmission options when you purchase a vehicle.

Nope. Lexus LFA - semi-automatic only. Ferrari 458 - DSG only. SLR McLaren - automatic only. Gallardo - semi-automatic only.

Well it was just a quick theory.

PD might not have enough time to model another version with different transmission ? Or maybe they thought it would be only visual difference that nobody would ever notice ? Many premium models have manual and auto models in real life, they choose to model the manual for some, but never both ... I think it's the same with most racing games.

Was a good one. 👍

If PD wanted both, why didn't they model a Gallardo with a manual transmission? Surely it can't be that hard to change a small component on the model.

They may have only had access to one car from a private owner, rather than a large selection from the manufacturer.

Or maybe they thought that because It's not a Skyline/GT-R we don't need more than one version of it. (Sarcasm)

If that's the case, they shouldn't have bothered at all. Either do it right, or don't do it at all.

Maybe in the next GT we will have proper auto simulation which react to throttle inputs / kick down and manual with clutch for stick controller like Toca Race Driver and D1 GP games in PS2 - so we can drift with clutch kick on stick as well.

Do what i do,check the stock ratios and copy them to a racing tranmission.Once you fit a racing modified box, every car has a clutch, 👍
