World Exclusive: GTR

THQ’s MotoGP franchise has long been considered one of the superior video game racers on the market ever since it debuted on the Xbox in 2002. Never a company to rest on its laurels, THQ continues its aggressive approach in next-gen game development. Today, THQ has announced a partnership with Swedish development studio SimBin Development Team AB to bring their award-winning GTR franchise to the Xbox 360.

This multi-title deal kicks off with the release of GTR on the Xbox 360 in Q1 2007, specifically focusing on the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) GT Championship - a European-based racing series that includes world class automakers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Corvette, Porsche and Aston Martin.

GT cars are the crème de la crème of road racing vehicles, with mere skins of their production-based brethren. We’re talking turbocharged or big displacement tube-frame beasts; carbon-on-carbon brakes, sequential trannies, and pretty much every other type of techno-gadgetry you can think of.

GT cars aren’t for the faint of heart or lack of skill. It takes precision and full attention to pilot one of these asphalt terrors. But perhaps it’s even tougher for a developer to properly pull off a racing game that is so genre-specific; every detail must be perfect, not only for the rabid fans of Grand Touring racing, but also to satisfy the stringent specifications of the FIA. Luckily, SimBin - heralded for its work on GT Legends and GTR for the PC - already has a vast amount of experience in making GT racers look and feel right. There is no doubt in our mind that SimBin and THQ will do GTR on the Xbox 360 right, which makes us even more excited for its worldwide launch.

Today, TeamXbox.com is proud to give you the first glimpse at GTR, including never-before-seen video footage and in-game screenshots.

My thoughts:
Won't do as well as the PC. There's just simply not enough FF wheels out for the X360, and not to mention, there hasn't been a sim like this on the Consoles since F355 Challenge.

IMO, there will be too many people who see this, think cool, and find out it has no plot but to just race, and see that the physics are nothing like their used to.

Why? Personally, I think most of the current X360 owners (as in Teens and Kids) are just not ready for a sim yet. Their brains are too used to Arcade physics, and honestly, I think the PC Sim Community is just far more better at these games than the X360 owners.

I think it'll be a lot of fun to play with a controller... I might plug my X360 controller in to my computer to see how GTR for PC plays with it.

Hmm, not a bad idea. I have a wireless with a adapter...why didn't I think of that?
Thanks for the idea.

Uh, ice, how do you make your computer detect the Controller?
Nvm, I have the wireless controller, and the PC will not recognize the Wireless ones even with the Play and Charge kit.

Kick ass. Wheel support isnt an issue for me, I just dont enjoy playing with wheels. So bring it on! :)

So let me get this straight: Forza 2 and GTR for xbox360 and Gran Turismo 5 for PS3...

I'm gonna need some money.

There's more player who can play than what you think.

When you install the pad on a PC, it should install it right away. Thats what it did for me.

Well according to those guys, you need to install the proper drivers to get full functionality, including analogue sensativity and what not. I personally cant say what to do from experiance as I dont even own a 360 so i cant try, if they auto install then thats cool, but if it dosnt there are options to get it working. :)

Does this game have an online mode?

And *McLaren* its going to be fun driving past those little jimmy's, who cannot handle sim racing lol.

Being able to play Forza or Gran Turismo is nothing like playing a sim as well done as GTR.

Forza and GT are childs play in comparison, aids or not.

& you think I can't play GTR?

I would enjoy to race you. I don't know how many times people say they were good... the result, I own them,.

I hope you have high speed. Here some several of my randoms video I made & you have an idea how good I am. See how I corners in different racing games.

I'm not saying that you are not good. I am, however, saying that there is a significantly smaller percentage of people who are good at GTR, and other life like sims, in comparison to members and people in general, who are good at Forza and GT series games.

Nah, that's because they lie online, cause GT4 is not really online.:sly:

Not necessarily. I can assure you that many of the people who can hold down decent times in GT4, could not do the same in GTR. Maybe it's just my gut feeling, but I'm almost positive that there are fewer people who are good at GTr than GT4 and Forza (and Forza is online).

Microsoft is supposed to be releasing a USB wireless transmitter for the PC so that you can use all 360 wireless controllers and wheels on the PC. I know I'll be getting one.

A big problem is that the GTR games hav e a big mod community on the PC, your taking that away on a console. You're losing out on some simply fantastic content thats all free on the PC.

Yeah, thanks a lot for the video, Sprite!!!! Didn't know about--or care about GTR--until about 6, 7, or 8 months ago. Now I see this trailer . . . I'm like Dougie Meats right now. Because Forza II is looking good, GTR definitely looks good and GT5 HAS to be good. I'm gonna have to get 2 jobs, sell lemonade, or get a paper route . . . something!

So is this going to be the same as GTR for PC (Meaning GTR1) or will it be closer to GTR2 (if not exactly the same)?

I'm really looking forward to this, as I've never had a PC good enough to experience it. The one thing the 360 is crying out for is a circuit based, race series game. Hopefully there'll be a new Toca/Pro Race Driver as well.

What I heard is that it is actually going to be GTR2, just labeled GTR since it's the first time on XBOX. I can't remember where I read this, so it's not 100% gospel.

So has this game been discontinued? Or is it put on ice by M$, until they get some FM2 sales figures?

I must say I long far more for this one, than FM2!
