Anyone beat this one in 1st? If so what car/specs did you use. My best place is 6th with the GTR 07? I put 80% power in the rear wheels with all the weight reduction upgrades and drifted like a champ but cant seem to get better than 6.
 
Try switching to the GT-R Spec V and then look up Lion Den's tuning set-up for the Spec V. For whatever reason, the Spec V seems to understeer less than the normal GT-R.

Driving wise, you need to be fast through turns 5-6 (the very, very fast left-right on the back part of the course-this should be taken basically flat-out) and 13-14-15 (the chicane before the track opens up to the start/finish straight-you can clip the curbs and straighten this part out).

Also, turn on Skid Recovery Force.
 
I used the GT-R vspec. Tuned a little with the weight reduction.
Took it for a practice before the race and set it up with a bit of oversteer to suit my style, set the brake heavily on the rear and finished the race 1st in a few tries.
The key for me was practice in free run.
 
I did it with a brand new GT-R '07, since my V Spec was overpowered.
Almost all permitted parts installed. The car understeers massively, so I tuned it a little toward oversteer. Lowered the max speed.
All assists off, ABS 1.

First it seemed impossible to catch the Ford GT, but you shouldn't dishearten. Massive improvement comes with some experience and commitment. Took me a few trys to get that GT but wasn't that hard (Fiat 500, I'm looking at you :)).

You should be really brave and committed and drive the hell out of the car. It has tremendous traction out of the corners - use it.
Also, a lot of time is to be made in the first corner (in the tunnel). You can actually get a very straight braking line and brake really, really late deep into the corner/tunnel. Don't use the suggested line.
Learn the track well and be aggressive everywhere, including the blind corners.

One of the races I enjoyed most throughout the game (although I don't like the car much).

Was that the setup you were referring to?
 
Thank you! those settings make the car awesome for this race, my first time I got 2nd place @3 secs behind that GT. You have to have a perfect run to catch him, love the course and how this car works it especially if you make super clean lines around 13-15. Only thing that would make it better would be some soft racing tires!
 
i used spec v too added aero stuff and weight reduction etc etc and pissed it 1st time, was passed the 1st place chap before the hairpin left turn, was the better car to use, and to prove to myself that it wasnt fluke i did it on my mates game too lol
 
I did it with the GTR-Spec V; no aids, no tunning, ABS @ 1...added only double clutch, fly wheel, and new set of shoes (chrome wheels :).)
It did take me a few tries...maybe 4-5 and beat it with .047...greatest feeling of victory ever.

***Edit***

I just checked It was the GT-R '07 and tunned to 488 HP.
