LMAO I dont watch NASCAR at all, not a fan at all, but its just that the Outfit looks cool, thats all. I wish they had an Ayrton Senna Outfit. That would be just perfect. Even this guy can drive a F1 better than Gordon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyW8FdzH9dg Yep, Tom Cruise. :)

lol, not likely. Gordon was a karting ace and almost went the open-wheeler route before getting good sponsorship for stock car racing. Gordon probably could've been one of our best F1 candidates.

Not to underscore the Cruuuuise though, he did an absolutely ace job. A few of us in f1technical.net were trying to get our hands on the telemetry from a guy we know that works Willow Springs. At least some more information on the trim of the car because it had to be VERY mild for him to be able to jump in it like that. The most impressive thing he did was keep the car from stalling on his off.

Anyway, to bring this back on track. Have any questions about the series you need cleared up Nep?

This is what I know. Damage Heavy, formation lap, 1 pit stop mandatory, qualifying deadline at 3AM EST Friday, and race at 2.30PM EST Friday. Im not missing anything am I?

Close enough. I have wrote down a few ideas for Season 3. Let me know what you think. It may not work well, but at least its worth a try writing them down.

Im quite surprised with my driving on Indianapolis. Only tuned the Aero and transmission and managed a 1.29.5 with the Lexus. Much better to drive the GT500 in here than the Lotus Elise 111RM

Thanks for the input Nep. I'll get back to that thread later today.

Also something cool for you to know is that you have a Portugeuse cousin racing in the GT300 class by the name of KamyKaze1098 (or Vitor, to the friendly :)

Can't believe i turned out with the biggest penalty in GT300. Just FYI, i received no damage when Paulmack swooped into the chicane. I honestly think i was still inside the track when we made contact. Also, it didn't seem that the damage was that severe on Paulmack. We ran close for the next few laps (with my worn tires if I may add :sly:) until i went off track and lost the tow. He also slowly reeled in twisted and passed him for 3rd. But ehhh.. what's done is done. This would be a good example of what i've talked about pertaining to labeling incidents (specially concerning damage) - but that's another long post worth discussing for later.

Anyway, Monza was the last race of the season for me (unexpected). Won't be available for the next 15 fridays. I might open up the expansion series soon and will most likely be either in the middle of the week or on saturday.

The penalty system in here seems to be harsh. A lot of people with penalties. Im gonna have to be extra careful in here!!

The track had a lot to do with it. The chicanes are easily cut and the long straights are draft heavens. Also, there was a week off so the Stewards had more time to review the race, thus, more violations observed - more penalties given out.

Although i've proposed a revision on the way we go about the penalties in future races.

Quoting myself:

Hey fellas, we should really do some tweaking with the way we go about sanctioning/judging penalties/offenses.

Driver A accidentally bumps Driver B coming into turn.
Driver A passes Driver B.
Driver B is stuck in gravel traps and stays there for more than 30 seconds.
Driver A does not wait to give spot back.

(i.e. Ultrap and Hortus at Monza)
Current Judgement:
Offense - Gaining Time/Spot through contact without relinquishing

Revision:
Offense - Aggressive driving resulting to lost time
Penalty - will vary (minimum warning)

Driver A, slowing down to a point where it is not safe for everybody else on the track is not the smartest thing to do. I think relinquishing spots will only be viable if the cars involve is less than a few seconds from each other.

Also, another issue - mainly about labeling incidents:
'With Reckless Intent' - personal gain without regards to other drivers. Full awareness on one side.
'Racing Incident' - both drivers contributed leading to the incident. Partial awareness on both.

(i.e. Mule and Masi at Monza / Dantedani and Wardez at Nurburgring GP/F)
Racing Incident - neither parties involved will be given any penalties.

Laslty, the severity of damage and how it affected the race outcome:
(i.e. Masi and Paulmack at Monza)
Masi goes wide into first chicane after missing breaking point. After appearing to go off track (for what it appears to be .0001 of a second, Masi resumes ideal line and takes the second apex. Paul swoops in and both makes collide. Paul is damaged, but seems minimal as he continues on to pass Masi and Twisted and finishes 3rd.

Current Judgement:
Offense - Avoidable contact resulting to damage - 25 seconds to Masi

Revision:
Racing Incident - less than 25 second penalty (varies on race outcome)

Had more in mind but what do you guys think?

p.s. ill be posting this in the facebook admins/stewards page also.

New room open if you guys wanna practice

Btw just curious, but do we judge any incident these days, or only those which are reported? Just concerned because sometimes if someone hits me on the circuit, I might not care for it. I'm a firm believer that 99% of things are accidental racing incidents and picking up damage is sometimes part of racing, and learning to deal with it; so unless something's deliberate I wouldn't want to report it, just want to get on with it instead. I wouldn't want someone to be penalised if it was just us two racing close together both knowing the risks, for example.

Just checking!

Yes, i put forth a discussion with the stewards (2 posts above where i quote myself).

I'll have a draft worked on tonight.

We judge all incidents that are reported, or noted by the stewards. In other words, we could see something between you and your rival that neither of you reported, and hand out a penalty if we think it's against our set of rules.

I have been running very close racing in WSGTC for several several races without getting damaged. It's all about being careful. If damage is caused, the errant driver could in 99 % of the cases have avoided it. I think that causing damage is clumsy and aggressive.
I agree that it's not intentional in most cases, but the trick is to know when you can make a move, and when you can't. If you do cause damage by a move, it was too aggressive, and not careful enough. Intentional or not does not matter. It's a matter of knowing where the limits are. If you know them, the racing wil be awesome. Look at you and GTP_Senninha2 at Suzuka last season. That was class A driving. 👍

And I just want to make one thing clear: Even if you and your competitor race door to door and cause damage to eachother, but both of you think it was racingincidents, that will not change the set of rules as WSGTC drivers are supposed to race by. So a penalty can be handed out to one of you even though both of you think you had an awesome race. Under no curcuimstance will the WSGTC set of rules come in second hand.

I do understad that it can seem silly sometimes. But we need to be conciquent when handing out penalties. All race to the same set of rules. The rules will not warry depending on who battles who.
