what would it do ?

Track your stats, track your friend's stats etc. Send you notifications when important races are about to start, when updates are due to commence, race reminders, perhaps with a countdown etc. DLC, maintenance etc. I actually thought this was one of the things that was coming at launch and was going to separate GTS from the crowd.
