Indeed, but they're SO far ahead of the "big" five.
My girlfriend has an irritating, oversized Tonka toy. I mean Clio. It's appalling. I advised her to get a Yaris or a Jazz and she got a Clio. Her sister wanted a small hatch, I advised her to get a Yaris or a Jazz and she got a Clio, like her sister's.
Hers had a complete ECU failure within 3 weeks of delivery. Then the digital climate control - which she didn't order and they tried to bill her for - stopped working. My girlfriend's one has had its stereo pack up completely and the rear wiper snapped in half when it was a bit cold. Since hers is a lease car, the local dealership printed up some dealership plates for her (as opposed to lease company plates) and lobbed them in the boot. When I found them they were one letter wrong and belonged to a red Ford Ranger XLT diesel. When I took them in, they tried to blame me and then my girlfriend for their error, despite the fact that I'd never been in and it wasn't my car and she'd been given the plates without her ever being informed of it - right up until I tore them a new one and threatened legal action for them printing up a set of plates while clearly not being in possession of the vehicle registration document - and this is a main Renault dealer.
Renault SUCK ASS. But they're screwed together better than MG/Rover, Mercedes, FIAT, Alfa Romeo and Land Rover. And survive crash tests better.
