Just a tip: Never input your subjective views into a riddle, always make it objective, people may not agree with your views, and it'd make them hard to guess it right ;)

(And the SLR and F1 share nothing, they are built to do two completely different things, and are supercars, not sedans.

Ok here's answer... SLR mclaren and mclaren f1. Different because ones sedan with FR and others different because it's sports racing type of car because it's MR And is made for speed. Same because both European...mclaren is old and SLR mclaren is new

That answer had no relevance to any of the hints you gave. I fail to see how in any way the SLR is somewhat related to a sedan.
