Oh, yes.

Just look at the sensual lighting, the soft glare of those elegant headlights as it metaphorically travels over the finest Egyptian, pink silk. It surely must have been a huge success for Hyundai!

Well, not really. No Korean executive with the slightest self respect would buy a tarted up Sonata with image problems and a name that has a girly ring to it. A truly horrid car from the 90s.

Congratulations, swara96! :)👍
You may post the next picture.

There's absolutely no reason to feel stupid :)
I'm sorry if my post came out a bit harsh, that was not the intention.

The rules don't explicitly say that, in case of car clones, you must give the answer to the person who guessed the car the clone is based on. So, it's really interpreting the rules, since there are definite overlaps between replicas and clones. However, in my opinion, it is simply going to be a bit too difficult/tedious if you have to dig up the exact name out of 1000 different smart clones with no real visual differences.

I think clones should also be mentioned in rule 8, but it's a huge grey area. Some cars are exact copies, and the car above is a good example. In that case, I think either the original car or the clone's name would be accepted as the correct answer.

But other clones combine the body shell of a well-known car, but with different light treatments, often justifying it as a distinct model altogether. I'm particularly thinking of the Shuanghuan CEO (BMW X5/Toyota Prado mix), and depending on the angle, the CEO could or could not be mistaken for an X5. In case of cars like this, I think the poster of the picture should be allowed to demand the name of the Chinese model.

It varies according to each clone, and how much of the orignal car's design was ripped off.
But what do you guys think?

Anyway, I suggest clones are at least mentioned in rule 8.

Right, I will definitely add something that applies to copies.

How about:
9. If the OP uses a photo of a car that is a complete copy of another car's design, both answers are acceptable. However, if the car in question is not an exact copy, and it is noticeably different in the photo provided, then the OP may ask for the name of the 'copy.' It is recommended, however, that copies are avoided due to the confusion they cause.

Sounds absolutely perfect :)

That sounds really good :D

Has the utilising given any results?

Respectfully, I think you should get an hour tops to upload your pic, after that anybody can post. First come, first serve. In the event several people post at once after the hour is up, the first link/image up is it and all other posters should delete their posts. If you can't delete your post edit out all words/urls/images and write in place "please ignore".

This is just a suggestion, I have no right to be making rules.

Well, I get your problem, we are all living in different time zones, so the limit is 18 hours.
That was already an issue in the predescessors of this thread (GTC1 and 2)

Maserati 3500GT?

Not sure though, I thought it might be something designed by Frua at first, but it actually looks kinda pseudo-Italian, the styling is a little clunky, but in a nice way.

Though I guess it could still be an Italian GT car.

Thirdeded :)

I fourth that notion

I'm glad you all like it, it's now an official rule. :)

Well, I like to keep the thread going quickly as much as anyone, however I think it is fair if people have time to claim their turn. Some people will leave a guess and not check back for many hours, so I prefer to leave them with adequate time to claim their turn or pass it on. Also, as RemyKock said, time zones are an issue. A person in England can't be online to see if they guessed the correct from from the Chinese OP. Finally, it does lend a certain order to the thread, which makes my slightly OCD brain feel happy.

I also want to disagree with your last point (sorry if I'm not being very diplomatic). I have no more right than you to make the rules. I merely took over the thread after an agreement was made in GTC V2 to have a new thread with an active leaderboard. I try my best to make sure that the majority of players agree with the rules and have their say about what they should be. So if you have any more suggestions, I welcome them :).

Edit: Alright, I've finally gotten around to putting up the current scores. Sorry for the wait. Once again, I want to give a big thank you to Mark II Blit for keeping track of the scores for me.

I think it might be the Maserati, but I'll throw Gilbern GT into the mix as an option. ;)
