Land Rover aren't really that old, late 1940s? Built out of left over Metal (Aluminium) from the war to replace Jeeps for farmers. Leftover paint was used on them too, cockpit green i think it was.
 
Indeed. What began as Swallow Sidecar Company, became SS Cars Ltd before the war. For one obvious reason afterward, Jaguar was chosen as the new company name. The ominous badge got a rework too.
