Yup indeed, the Flybaby, designed by Pete Bowers in 1960. One of the easiest-to-build homebuilts ever, even with no kit.

You're up, 911!

13 is too many.

It's a Spad VII, but I can't really see any difference.

It is Count Francisco Baracca's Spad. His prancing horse emblem was given to Enzo Ferrari to use on his racing cars.

Neon Duke's.

The real difference was in armament. The earlier series had a single .303 Browning machine gun, whereas the XIII had two. I think the XIII had a little more power, too. I can't really tell from that pic so I took a shot at it.

Here's one I've always liked:

👍 Good one! I love the big fat prop on that little airplane.

Handley-Page Hampdens.

[edit] Wait, Hampdens have radial engines... looking closer, I'd say these are Herefords.

Dammit. I thought you would fall for the old "Hampden-Hereford" trick.

Neon Duke to go.

Ding ding ding. 👍 Methinks we're doing our research on the same website...

I had stumbled across it at some point when looking at flying wings so it looked familiar. But I didn't place it properly and so went looking through Northrops until the lightbulb came back on and I remembered it was British.

This one's shape may ring a bell.

I thought it was a Fairchild AT-21 for a minute, but it's not. Mike Rotch posted a civvy version of this airplane a while back, I think... maybe.

Yea. Looks like maybe a Lockheed?

The plane Duke is referring to is of course, the Howard 500. The top turret is throwing me off though and to my knowledge the Howard never made combat..

Yeah, the twin rudders, if they're not Beech (not round enough) or Fairchild (not square enough) are most likely saying Lockheed.

The closest match is a PV-2 Harpoon, but there doesn't appear to be a ventral "lie down" gun position, though it's banked towards us and pitched up, so maybe you just can't see it.

Looks like a Pitts Special without the biplane....and the different cockpit....:grumpy:
Looks familiar though.

Yeah, kinda... Actually, it's a Rearwin Speedster. We'll move on to something else:

Viper Zero
It's the "Super" Super Sabre, YF-107A.
Excellent work! Also known as the Ultra Sabre. They only made one, and it performed well in testing (broke Mach 2 with a belly bomb mounted), but the project was shelved for some reason.

Bonus points: Can anybody tell me why the intake was located above the cockpit?

Your go , Viper Zero!
