I was wondering, what abilities do "guests" have? Below is an attachment of "Guest sending PM". I have also seen "Guest moderating" and "Guest Quoting in thread".

I thought guests could only view posts

They can only view posts.

But if you, as a guest hit the reply, pm or any other function you get a login message, but in the "who's online" page their attempted action is showed.

I've also noticed this, but it seems that Sublime is most likely correct.

This has been discussed many times before. Guests are simply clicking on links to pages they can't view, so they are shown a page that prompts them to register or log-in. They will still be shown as viewing the page as normal. This will be "fixed" when we upgrade to vB3.

Jordan, I believe it hasn't. At the vB3 running forum I goto, when I veiw the Online page, I can still veiw what Guests are veiwing. This may be the fact that I have Administrative access.

EDIT: That forum is running vBulletin Version 3.0.0 Release Candidate 3.

Hmmm... That assumption was from the code that I saw in one of the templates. I just double-checked, and it does display whatever they're trying to do. However, it now includes a red icon to show if a guest or any other user is viewing a "no permission" error message on that page. I suppose it's that way in case you have guest posting enabled in a few specific forums of the site.

That's what I figured, I was just speculating as to why the vB3 developers opted to use the "no permission error" icon instead of changing their location text completely.
