Have recently bought myself a brand new Fender Squire Strat (Affinity series), and I'm now after a guitar amp for it. I've only got a budget of around £50, so I'm not expecting anything mind-blowing, but I would like one with some effects on it.

Any suggestions would be welcome. :)

I definately would not recommend the Marshall MG. It's a crap amp and you're only paying for the name. The distortion on it absolutely sucks.

Randall's are only really known for getting a good metal tone, so if you're going for that the Randall might be a good choice. Other than that, my pick would be the Fender amp. That Epiphone amp doesn't have any bells and whistles at all.

Since your only starting out i recommend:

Roland Cube
VOX ADVT series.
Randall.

Those are the only solidstate amps i would recommend.

Don't even think about:

Line 6
Marshall MG series or Valvestate.
Peavey Transtube.( fake tube sound)

I bought a 75w Spider II. I love it. It sounds far better than the roland cubes, offers more wattage, and it cost me less. It has a lot of gimicky features, yes, but you can't argue with the sound it gets on some of the amp models 👍

If you can afford or save some more, go for the Roland Micro Cube.
I have had an old Roland 15watt for 15 years and told myself i'd NEVER ever buy another, but when the guy in the musicstore told me " if you hear this, you wont want to try another". He was right. Its bloody awesome!
Though the sounds at high volume is pretty bad (could be my guitar that's doing this). But im just playing as a small hobby so i dont mind. Its perfect for me.
