On buying GT6 of the psn store :( question is the 14.3 GB without all the updates or with all the updates? Also do i have to worry about major bugs with the digital version.

Last as i post this thread i got the psn store gt6 page open :nervous: its happening Almost

Assuming you did pull the trigger, to get the best out of the game you'll need some cars. I'd recommend you get your login bonus up to 200% ASAP, open up the later levels by getting the minimum stars required to get to the next level, until you get to the point where you can do the senna challenge, red bull challenge and the new Sierra rallies, as these get you big money on max bonus.

Also 3 golds on goodwood gets you a car - 5 cars in total potentially, although some are not very useful.

Then you have the choice of repeating seasonal races and/or red bull events to win good credits to fill your garage.

The Suzuki gsx concept thingy is a good car for many of the seasonals but other cars are available lol

i'm ready to pull it too
did someone bought the digital version after seeing his blue ray reader failing to be able to read the second layer on the disk ?
mine does, i'll soon send it to repair (still under warranty .. 10 month old)

i just wonder if i buy the digital version,
do i have to wipe everything out (gt6 data) and do a fresh re-install
or just downloading it and everything will be fine ?
can i continue to use my GT6 saves or will it be incompatible ?
if i buy the normal digital version, can i use the anniversary codes of my physical disk ?

Interesting questions.

If I had to guess I would say you will need to download the updates again.
The reason being updates for the disc version go in the Game Data Utility folder, whereas updates for the digital version are added to the files with the actual GT6 game files, under the GT6 icon.
So as you can tell I don't know, but that's my best guess.

I doubt save files would be an issue.
I would expect them to be compatible.

The code is just an add-on code to the regular game anyway.
Considering you would have all GT6 downloads stored in your transaction history, I see no reason why you can't get them back.

So all in all, not one definitive answer.

The 14.8gb is just the game data. Get ready for a 7+ hour download+install.

If @Le_Manuz has already used the anniversary codes for his/her disk version, the content should be stored in his/her "downloads history" within psn store to re-download and install. I can't remember exactly where to find this, I think it's either at the top in psn store or an option under your Account Details on the user XMB bar. You can normally redownload dlc previously purchased on same ps3.

Download + install... And no.
Wow, I haven't seen d/l and install times like that since the mid-80's. I have the mid-level internet package from my cable provider, and I get 65 mbps d/l. I can double that for another $20 per month.

Do the math, even at half my speeds, we're nowhere near 7 hours!

Yep, agreed.
I usually use the XMB.
PSN icon > Account Management > Transaction Management > Download list.
But as you say it can probably be done from the Store as well.
Provided the same PSN account is used, I don't think there would be issues with DLC or save files.

If it's necessary to delete the game data then you will lose things like replays, photos, ghosts.

I had a look at my disc version numbers.
Gama Data Utility folder (which also shows a DLC history list) shows 20GB.
I know updates 1 - 13 are worth about 8.7GB.
Installed files from disc to HDD according to in-game function = 4.2GB

How all these numbers interact I've no idea.

Well I'm looking at around 40mbps(ATM, peaks at 55), and I'm working with a very old fatty(40GB) that is a frankenstein(a few PS3 sacrificed their life to keep mine alive). Regardless it took 7 hours to download the game, install, download the updates, install, start the game install again, restart the game to download the hotfixes of the latest update, and finally install again... Seems just as annoying as EA and their stupid Origin which have made it almost impossible to play a game with out going through their stupid system, which doesn't seem to like my PC.

Now for the math...

24GB = 24000MB, so @ 5MBps that would be 4800 seconds which is 80 minutes just to download the data, it all looks good on paper but things dont always work out how they should. And I'm sure almost 8 years of 10 hour sessions have done their damage also... so to sum it up, it ain't my internet speeds, but a old abused PS3.

In download speed are we talking Megabits per second or Megabytes per second.

65mbps (megabits) is 8.125 MBps (megabytes)

If you are getting 65 Megabytes per second internet, you have no idea how jealous I am :)

I just realized that I messed up my math lol. I will fix it in a minute.

Yes, you can. This is what I did back in december, when I pre-ordered AE online, and waited ~couple weeks after release, did not receive game, then went and bought Digital Version.

Ofcourse, 3 days later, the game arrived. But i didn't care, .F.***that turtle Post

I would have a killer tree! I think I fixed my math right this time.

Well, I just ran speed test on my iPhone to verify whether it's mbps or mBps, and it tirns out I was wrong. Cox cable seems to have upped my throughput! Now I'm getting 89 mbps.

Interesting about the fatty. We have an old fatty, and a newer thin one. The fatty seems to d/l faster than the newer one--and the fatty is farther from the wifi router!

At any rate, I hope it doesn't require 7 hours!

It
Wow no kidding. 100% of the feedback was to get GTA5........then he went with GT6 anyway. Never understood why someone would make a thread asking for an opinion, get 100% same answer, then pick the opposite answer. :dunce:
It's very possible the reasons for the recommendations just didn't jive with him. Maybe he had already made up his mind for the most part, but threw the question out there to see if he could be convinced otherwise. And none of the gta5 arguments swayed him enough.

Never understood why people care why others made a decision for themselves :D

@Le_Manuz Technically yes, but I would only use this method if your system can not update by itself.
Read the whole thread first.https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/cannot-update-gt6-had-tried-everything.318193/

Things you are going to need:
PS3 Proxy Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/t6ztsj43uwozqhb/PS3Prox.zip
Link to Tutorial: http://sagamer.co.za/forum/showthread.php?128773-PS3-Proxy-Server-Version-2 (I will give you the steps I followed, his tutorial makes it seem harder to understand but good to read over.)
Link to Updates: http://www.nextgenupdate.com/forums/gran-turismo-6/699997-gt6-update-pkg-links-all-regions.html (Make sure you pick the right region, or the install will fail.)
PSN+

Step 1: Download and Install the PS3 proxy. And Download the updates.

Step 2:
Plug your ethernet cable into your laptop/pc from your router and other cable from your router into your PS3.
(if you not using a router, try using a program called mhotspot to create a wifi hotspot).

Step 3:
Start PS3 proxy. (Dont put on your PS3 just yet.) Make your pc is connect to the internet, then click on get IP's. Two or more IP's addresses should show up in the box below, just click on the first one, it should now be in the IP address box. Leave the port at 8080. Now Click Start.

Step 4:
Turn on your PS3 and go to internet connection settings and set up a new connection. With the following: 1) Use Proxy, once picked it should ask you for a IP address and the Port. Use the IP and Port the PS3 proxy gave you. 2) Enable UPnP. Then test the internet connection. To if the Proxy is working try signing into PSN, then look over at your pc at the proxy under the LOG tab to see if links are showing up.

Step 5:
This where the PSN+ account is needed to access the automatic game update feature. So you going to click On, and pick a time frame that you currently in, then tick the download game patches box (No other boxes). [If dont have PSN+ account try and get the 14-day trial thingy].

Step 6:
Switch off your PS3, it should then turn back on by its self (make sure GT6 is in the PS3). Give it about 15sec to 30sec then a new link should show up in the log tab on the proxy (it looks like this but longer:[http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/...S01893_00-0000000000000000-A0113-V0100-PE.pkg]). Now head over to the downloads manager(PS3) and the pause the download.

Step 7:
Highlight and copy the link in the log, then click on the REPLACE FILES tab and do the following:
1) Choose a place on your pc to save the XML file, then click save. (Do this Once only)
2) Description. Use something like GT6 Update.
3) Paste the link you got from the Log.
4) Now choose the path to where the file is on your pc (make you replace the right file with the right link.
Example: Link A0113 should go with File A0113)
5) Click ADD, it should now appear in the big box at the bottom.

Step 8:
Back to the download manager and click START. Right a way look over to the proxy under the log tab. If you get a link like the the first one then you have to do it again. Trick for getting it on the first try: be as quick as you can when doing step 7. Tip if you are not quick: keep pressing pause and start till you get 10 or so links in the log tab then do step 7 for five of those links. When its worked you get something like this in the log tab:
http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/...S01893_00-0000000000000000-A0113-V0100-PE.pkg
--> C:\.......................................................................
And the download should be fast very fast.

Step 9:
Since this is for GT6 you will have to do Step 7 and Step 8 13 times for each update. Take note of each updates size and make sure you watch the log to see when the next update link appears as soon as it does pause the download and do Step 7 and 8 again (be quick).

Step 10:
Once the download is done for all updates, do the install. I turned off my internet before i installed just in case. The install takes long very long.

Thanks to creemyv at sagamer.co.za for the original tutorial.

Hope this works for you like it did for me.

This is what keeps me playing GT5 :(

So I'm actually ready to pull the trigger as well. I have a g27, rig, 40 inch bravia, "high speed" internet.

Besides the fact gt5 lacks online capabilities and updated carlist, what other reason would it be to buy the game. IT'S STILL $40, A YEAR AFTER RELEASE

thx in advance
