I was wondering what motivates a dude to have a hottie as his Avitar? lol

I can't tell you how many times I have gone down in flames thinking that a good looking woman might have posted her pick as her Avitar only to find out it was a dude.....LOL

Generally, one identifies with the object in some way, or it represents them. For example, when I have used my M3, etc for an avatar.

However, it is a bit odd to identify with the opposite gender. More so if you are lusting after them. I just find it odd to use something you desire to represent you, when if you had it, it would in no way represent you...

I guess we think of avatars different then as I've never thought of it as something that actually represents me. I just used women for them because I thought they were good looking or a car because I liked it.

My Avatar matches my username, which was a nickname i had in primary school, so i guess it relates to me once you connect a few dots. But i think i agree with Cody, It should represent you in someway or better yet match your username for a special combo!!

I vote my avatar / username to be the best match on the forum! *no bias at all*

Don't we ("we" being dudes) use "hot chick avatars" because they look good? We all appreciate a decent hot chick, so why not use one in an avatar to make the 'Planet look just that little bit nicer? :dopey:
 
I have to agree with Sharky, perhaps it's just that you like to look at a certain hot girl, and I mean I've certainly noticed and remember more accurately Sharky's avatar than terminators avatar.

And I don't think that Sharky relates to Taylor Swift, it just states that he likes her.

As I said, representation of a person on the Internets. Just generally think of this as a reflection of ones self I guess, thus why my avatar generally stays the same for at least a month. In the case of Small_fries, this is forever (and we all know the fries)

And I may find it a bit juvenile, along with the babe wallpaper mentality.

Indeed, I find that I can associate avatars to usernames with members who keep avatars that are unique or in some way relates to them or the username, rather than something generic.

Case in point.

Cody's avatar,
Evilneal's
The periodic ones, keef for example
Casio's stupid flashing ones
Fred's old one (safe sex)
etc.

I think that having an avatar of something/someone you like does represent you as your preferences speak about your personality.

Personally I don't relate to the M3 in my avatar but I like it and hat speaks for itself.

On a side note I think one of the most recognizable avatars also has to be Touring Mars' avatar.
