Maybe this has already been asked....but does anyone practice gymkhana or auto cross. I have had the game since release and got a bit bored. It is fun on top gear test track.....just get up some cones and slide through them. I have some great pics and replays.

I wish they would have added tracks like that 2 gt5. I have to set up my own courses. Forza has the gymkhana tracks, but i would take freestyle drift.......

If you go to the drifting sub-forum there are a few threads in there about sliding 4WD cars and gymkhana :)

Thanks. uninteresting video I guess, but it explains what it is.

Uninteresting video? How can a car enthusiast (which I presume you are, considering you play gt5) find this uninteresting? :p

As far as I know autox and gymkhana have very little to do with each other, unless we've been doing it wrong.

Autox events are little time-trial type deals where you will most certainly lose terribly (and likely be asked to leave) if you drive anything like Ken Block does in that video.

Well technically gymkhana in its original form is also a time trial event, so in that sense it is similar to autox. Check out the highlights from the x games for an example.

Yes I am a car enthusiast. But I don't like all this showy drifting stuff. It doesn't interest me in a way an old historic car does, or a classic sports car does. Well I'm not a huge car enthusiast, I am only 17 years old, but I do love older cars and things like that.

Isn't that kinda like saying, "I like Jimmy Hendrixs' guitar but his playing doesn't interest me." The cars are tools. What we do with them is what matters.

I know a lot of people who simply collect guitars because of how they are made, who made them, or who played them. Likewise, there are many people who buy cool cars because they're engineering marvels, beautiful to look at or have historical significance.

A good guitar is useless without a good guitarist. Just like with driving I would rather listen to a good guitarist on a bad guitar than a bad guitarist on a good guitar.

When you are driving down the highway who would you rather drive behind: an idiot in a porche or Ken Block in a pinto?

I've done scca solo 2 auto-x but I find nothing similar to it in GT5. I wouldn't mind some gymkhana type events but I've always associated it with horses more than cars.

You are correct, I love to look at the cars, and take great photo's of them. Obviously I love driving them as well. But I hate drifting and all that stuff, I have no idea why.

It wouldn't matter what the name of the driver was, I wouldn't really care what the car is really. But I would rather not have an idiot driving in front.

Please tell me you at least respect it.

Well, to be fair, how many fords has Ken Block totaled in the last 12 months?

Quite a few.

Its Too bad he hasnt been able to tame his driving skills for the WRC. He kind of reminds me of Richard Burns at the start of his career.
