H-Shifter not working on some cars

While driving the Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR Rally Car (ST205) '95 for the first time found that the H-Shifter did not work but sequential worked fine. My initial thought was that I had some sort of hardware or calibration issue. Went through a number of steps to check out the hardware and calibration. All was good. Then selected several other cars specifically the Mine's BNR34 SKYLINE GT-R N1 base '06 and Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo and both shifted fine with either sequential and H. Then went back to the Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR Rally Car (ST205) '95 and the H shifter didn't work but sequential was just fine as before. Interesting ...

Cars with a fully customizable transmission don't react to the H-shifter or clutch.

Yeah, it's stupid that way, because some cars with autos/DSGs/E-manuals react to clutch input. Proper drivetrain modelling doesn't seem to be in GT6, sadly.

Thanks I only started using the H-Shifter recently when I got my Fanatec CSS-SQ. Did GT5 have this issue as well? (only used paddle shifters with GT5)

If I remember correctly, cars turned into manuals (i.e. responded to clutch input) with a fully customizable gearbox in GT5.

I use a logitech g25 wheel and have the same problems. Works if you don't change to custom transmission, then stops on some cars after you install it. It never was a problem with gt5.

Hopefully PD will get notified of this problem via some means ...

Interesting I didn't know this. I thought cars that had paddle shifters IRL were the ones that didn't respond to H-shifter in the game :P

This has been my experience. Cars with flappy paddles don't work using the H-shifter. Customizable transmissions are not the culprit(least not that I've found), flappy paddle car are.

Heh, that's what I thought since everyone blamed the unresponsive H-shifter and clutch on the customizable transmission. I have to admit I haven't tried it out myself though.

Based on YouTube videos showing the interior of a real Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR ST205 rally car it is definitely a stick shift (H doesn't work in GT6)

Definitely a H shifter, this guy´s right hand touches the wheel... once... during the whole stage

Customizable transmissions are the problem, on some cars the h-shift and clutch don´t work after installing it. Some examples: Vectra, Corsa, Honda S2000 ´03 and BMW 2002ti ...

On most 70´s muscle it still works, which is good.

This is not acceptable, however, they need to let the players decide how they want to shift. Period.

hope its just a glitch.

Yes, this annoys me as well and I have the Thrustmaster TH8 RS Shifter.
So far, most standard rally cars seem to suffer from this problem :banghead:

We have to make PD address this...

I really hope they will correct this "little" but annoying bug.

Sad part is most of you don't realize what a sequential transmission is. A dog clutch/ sequential transmission does not work with a H-patterns. I have seen most of these types of cars work with the sequential shifter offered for T500's and G25's.

Well, if we had to change the H to +/- shift and back every time we changed the car, well...
Also, cars that have paddles on the wheel work just fine even with th H, so why not?

Does anyone know if this glitch/"design decision" was part of day one or if it was introduced in a patch? I noticed with the newest Mercedes Vision GT (in the seasonal event), I could only used the paddles on my G27 :(

On some Muscle cars, according to in-game description, what you install is a dog clutch sequential transmission and the H-pattern still works!

Cars like the Celica Rally car had a odd racing transmission; a clutch and gears were shifted using H-pattern, as video posted by me, shows. Heck, PD even modelled the car correctly (edit: no they didn´t, its got a sequential :/ ), visually. But in-game this car only works with sequentials.

Edit: Even if it comes with sequential, it´s a ´95 Rallye car, for crying out loud. Let us H-shift it!

Tuning a Vectra, after installing the transmission, you have no choice but to use padels (+/-).

It doesn´t matter what a dog clutch / sequential transmission is when PD´s way of implementing it is senseless like that!

Wrong they dont use a H-pattern. They use a simple bump +/- on a stick the moves a 1/4". Look it up.

Look it up where?

Enough?
Regardless of what the shifter does a sequential transmission doesnt require a clutch or a h-pattern shifter to work. As in the celica the "H" as you calling it is just a function of the shifter itself to tell the driver what gear he is in because the lack of a gear indicator. Newer race/rally cars with sequential transmissions have gear indicator and the ****er barely moves.

Here you go.

If you still didn´t realize what Juha Kankkunen did with the left foot in that video, I can´t help you any more. Argue for the sake of arguing as much as you want. The car in question, Toyota Celica st205 GT-four Rally Cars, did not have sequential. Period.

This might be one instance where PD modelling is incorrect, but not all of them are.

Look, it´s not about how they modeled it. I couldn´t care less about the modeling. But when I drive any car in this game, I want to be able to choose the way I shift, myself. And the fact that PD gives us a very hard time in doing so, that is what´s p***ing me off.

Like Oyashiro-sama said, there are cars with paddles, DSG or autom. transmission (CTS-V) and the clutch works on them.

PD could just make every car work with any imaginable way of shifting, let the player decide wich kind of transmission they want to simulate. Problem solved.

For the track day cars, a lot of people modify their gearbox in order to have shorter gears but it's still an H pattern, we simply want to do that in the game !

Just an aside, the CTS-V in the game happens to have the interior modeled with an automatic, however, it is available in real life with a manual (the first gen was manual only).

Otherwise, agreed, the inconsistency with which we are allowed the choice of using the clutch is puzzling.

Yeah, I was really looking forward to the CTS-V, and pretty disappointed when I saw the automatic.

Correct me if I´m wrong but wasn´t GT5 allowing the use of clutch and H-pattern just about anywhere?

???

Doesn't mean it's an H-box, just that it's a manual box. It's much more likely to be a sequential shifter, especially in a fast off-road race car.

the H-Shift doesn't work with the '71 Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack either. i thing they messed the fully customizable transmissions up with the standard old muscle cars
