Had Ferrari and Porsche made it into GT4...

What they test has nothing to do with good or bad publicity, they test as many cars as they can in each session wheater they will be in the next GT game or not. It saves them having to test all thoes cars again so they can concentrate on new models and getting even more cars in the next GT. Look at it this way, not testing them now when they have the chance will mean they have to test them in the future, adding to their list of cars they will need to test then and taking more time which would be spent on creating the game, add to that it would be a waste of money and resources testing cars later when you could do them right now.

If Ferrari and Porsche made it into the game... It would be a dream come true in the gaming world for me and others who also want them to be in!!! :O I wish I can go up there and knock on PD door and get on my knees...cry...and BEG Kazunori Yamauchi. :( :( Its like, Gran Turismo 4 is going to get all the car as much as possible from the past to the present and leave out TWO BIG RACING ICON!!! :( Its like umm... Two companies with such glorious reputations and are SOO BIG and well known to all car lovers and even the general public all know and to not be in the game.. I just hope Kanuzori do something soon. Because I would love to see how PD can basically say "Our Gran Turismo Series is a game that is meant for ALL to enjoy because we have ALL the rides!" :D :O :lol: But so far they don't Anyways...I dont know what else to say but talk about me begging infront of Kanuzori, but you dont wanna see that! :D :O :lol: :eek: :(
 
They arn't leaving them out deliberately. They just can't get them in the game legally and if they put them in anyway there probably wouldn't be a GT5, I doubt Sony would keep PD running after paying all the legal fees and compensation for unauthorised use of the cars.
 
ferrari and porsche could easily have 100 cars between them that are hotoricaly signifigant and fast

Yeah, but You can still represent each decade of the automobile wel without them. Whjen they finally do get into a GT game they will add to an already great experience.

Anyhow, that Porsche 917 is by far, one of the most powerful race cars in the world, if not in history. That 917 may be outdated in terms of technology and aerodynamics, that bad boy can still run in the 200 mph club of race cars. The 917 is in that club shaking its a$$ on the dance club like it own that joint. The 917 is can't miss. It's okay to put in the Le Mans-winning Porsche 911 GT1, but you need both the 956 and the 917 to make at least a few good additions to the game. And of course, don't forget the Carerra GT. I sure wish this car would challenge the bad boys in GTS, but thanks to certain rules, it can't. It would have to sell a lot, plus be at least in the class of the Corvette. Because if the Viper GTS-R isn't resurrected, the Carerra GT can still battle with the Corvette, Ferrari, and Saleen teams. Someone's just going to have to make it happen, you dig?
 
Just wanted to say one thing...

At the beginning, GT4 was a must buy obviously because i just adore GT series. However i would problably wait till it became Platinum.
Then i heard the amazing news that the Ring would be on it! I nearly jumped of joy! The best circuit of the wolrd in the best game of the world. A must buy as soon as possible.

Now if Porsche would make it in GT4 (with lots of models, since early 356, 550 Spyder, 904, 917, 956, and of course several 911 models and many others), I will definitly be at the store opening hour at the release day to be the first to get a copy! (Maybe i'll even bribe the shop employees to get it sooner ;) :D

Please Porsche, make it in GT4 :D

Well if it's going to be possible to download cars for GT4, then why not cars made by fans like in the NFS series, so now just find some fans who can design those cars for us??
 
I wouldn't want to have the general public making cars for GT4, you'll start seeing stupid cars that hit 500Mph in 2 seconds and handle better than an F1 car. Keep it all official so it's all real and all up to the same standard.

Well True, however if you don't want those cars you don't get them! And it would be a nice way to get ferrrari and Porsche in, with some other brands or cars that are missing
 
No because other people would be using them online, you'd be linig up for a race at New York and thered be a couple of people in normal GT3 cars, another couple in good quality self made cars and two more in their own creations that can defy the games physics. You couldn't say put something in that would stop people using thoes cars online, even adding Bhp limits and weight limits wouldn't work. It would have to be all downloadble cars online or none at all, theres no inbetween on that thing. Keep it all good quality and real, I can't stress how important that is for the GT series.

But if GT4 had ferrai's and Porshe then this game would be one awesome game, which it already is. But it just pisses me of that companies like EA have rights to Ferrari, and they cant even make a decent racing game. I think car companies should be paying PD to have thier cars in Gran Turismo. In a way it is advertisement. I was over at IGN and i saw a quote

"...a reluctant Yamauchi answered, 'Ferrari and Porsche, [aren't] impossible, but in terms of GT4, it won't happen.'"-IGN May 13, 2004

Hopefully that aint true

I would love to see these two manufactures in this game.
 
There was something I just thought of. Keeping up with the "Had Ferrari and Porsche Made it into GT4..." topic, I realize that Italy and Germany will probably be well-represented. Italy will have a plethora of Italian courses (none of which road courses, unless Monza is a can't-miss deal), and Germany will have its superweapon, the Nurburgring long course. Respectively, Ferrari and Porsche would be at home turf. I'm not a real fan of Imola, but if that track is included (or for that matter, Fiorano as well), you HAVE to... I'll say it again... you HAVE to include Ferrari. Even if it is a Hot Wheels Ferrari being represented, why not bring it in? And as far as Germany goes, you got Volkswagen, Opel, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and maybe some others. But for sure, Porsche is the most well-known German make outside of mentioning BMW or Mercedes or Volkswagen. Since laps around the Nurburgring long course are about 9 minutes long (someone mentioned a 20-lap endurance there, which would equal about 180 total minutes, or three hours), Porsche is really can't miss. Last year, an Opel won the race, then a DTM Audi got second. That Porsche Bi-Turbo that made 700 horsepower would be an incredible find.

So if you're going to represent Italy or Germany, think about getting a hold of Ferrari and Porsche. I don't really think it's too late. But I would love to race a 360 Modena Challenge Car. If it had room for four, I'd put in Kart Racer, Eagle, and McLaren'sAngel. Then they can see what kind of a sick bastard I am on the track.
 
Look at what you have instead of what you don't have. GT4 will bring the series to another level where no game has gone before. It will do wonderfull things besides racing.

For instances many people are whining about damage. Although I have never seen them doing gravity. For instance Toca 2 on XBOX and RSC2 have very good damage, although we still race in ghost sceneries. Realistic Damage isn't available in any game. Well the ferrari's and Porshe's are not in. Who cares. I love GT for the enormous diversity and attention to detail. So look at what you have instead of what you don't have.
 
I just think that PD will leave Ferrari and Porsche as a huje surprise when we buy the game. It's like we go to the car dealer and wham!! what do we see?? :eek:Porsche and Ferrari:eek: man that will be the best moment of the game:cool:

Even if PD did say that Porsche and Ferrari woun't make it, they might indeed make it in the end (just look at it this way, nurb was impossible for the PS2 to render, now in GT4 it came to us as a big surprise and it's looking better than PGR2!!) <--- the same can go for F and P.
 
PD might later allow people to download more cars (or buy later a pack of 400 cars (just a number) for 10 bucks or something) As certain licenses expire for other companies PD might have the chance to buy the licenses and provide/sell the service of getting those new aquired cars for download.
 
The way I see it is this. Ferrari and Porsche is an important addition. But then so was Nissan, Dodge, Lotus, Lancia, VW and so on.

I also feel that the GT series wouldn't be the same without Ruf. Ruf power!
 
To combine "Open Wheel Race Cars" and "Had Porsche and Ferrari Made It Into GT4," did you know that Porsche had its own Indy Race Car? I don't know if it was successful, but if you want to talk about a variety of machines, look no further than this. If I find pictures, I'll link you to them.

I'm pretty sure that you won't get Porsche, but you probably will get Ruf. Ruf and Porsche are two different makes. So if you hear of Porsche in GT4, it's likely going to be Ruf, not Porsche. One time in a "Road and Track" magazine, I even heard the term "Ruf Porsche" mentioned. It was probably using Porsche as a generic name for anything styled or shaped like a Porsche of today. And if Ruf puts in that 600+ hp badboy, you may want to leave Porsche behind in favor of that beautiful. newer Ruf.

As far as Ferrari goes... maybe not this time around. There hasn't been a lot of talk about more Ferraris in GT4, so I have nothing to note for Ferrari in GT4.

Gave in?????? EA was the problem, not F+P... Ferrari has stated their desire to be in GT.

Well at least you got the Ruf and Porsche are 2 seperate cars and different makers and Ruf is not simply a "tuner" of Porsche... but Ruf is 100% in... we've seen screen caps of Ruf cars from E3.

You must not read GTP... there's a ton about Ferraris in GT4... especially the video from PAL Prologue... the 2 most seen manufacturers in that vid were Ferraris and Porsches... see my post below as to why this is more of a strong indication that they will be in GT as opposed to not:

If you watch the video, the section that shows porsches and ferraris is when the PD staff are taken on a day out to try the handling of different types of cars in different conditions - it wasn't one of their data gathering days.
 
When EA asked Ferrari and Porsche to be in why didnt they say no like Italian Lamborghini did to GT3.

actually... there's no confirm or deny from PD that P+F weren't/aren't already tested, and that the footage is only from a "staff training" day... also, the idea of the handling day was to get an idea of how the real cars would handle so they could compare them with the GT engine and the GT digital counterpart...

the real crux of the issue is why are they shown so prominently in a GT product... makes absolutely no sense strategically or from a branding perspective if they don't appear in the final product... that's all i was trying to get across, is the oddity of their presence in relation to proper marketing strategy and product positioning. Even though i feel like they will make their debut i will be the first to agree that until we see screen shots, PD confirms it, or we have the final product and they're in the game we cannot say it is 100% certain either way.
