Yep, it is as the title says!

Sometime around 2AM This morning (21-11-03) we had a knock at our door, my fiance went down to check who it was, i got out of bed and looked out the window and noticed my fiance's car was on the footpath and not in the driveway.

So i walked out of our room and to the top of the stairs there was my fiance handing the keys of my rx-8 to someone, i ran down the stairs and heard the alarm turn off on the car the engine start and then it reversed out of the driveway, by the time i had gotten to the door they had sped off.

So my fiance ran to the phone and called the garda, it took about 15 mins for them to come and when they did they just took details. They said they would try as hard as they could to track it down, a few hours later we got a phone call "We have recovered your car from Finglas" so i thought great cars back...

Well anyway we traveled up to where we were told it was (in the towing companys yard) to my horror instead of it being ok apart from the **** driven out of it which is what i thought it was going to be like, however it was un describeable.

There was no wheels on it, everything on the car was bent/broken/snapped off or just non existant...

The repair estimate from the insurance company comes to 18,000 Euro!!

Anyone else had one of these bad expirences?

They knocked on your door, and demanded that your fiance give them the keys to your car?!:odd: Damn. That's a pretty ballsey way to steal a car.

I've never had a car stolen. I've had my car broken into by some punk ass kids who were supposedly my friends at the time, though.

Sorry about your car. Hopefully it all gets taken care of quickly.

Welcome to the "stripped and left on its own" club. I had an Integra Type-R, which got stolen during the night (while i was awake!) and found in a ditch, only as a shell, a few months later.

It seems to be the way there sealing cars now, arive upto your door with a weapon and demand the keys to the car. Its how most of the STi Subaru's and Evos are stolen here in ireland and the uk

Some months ago the CD player of our car was stolen. Luckily they couldn't take the whole car. It happened the day when it was the midsummer festival. They were professionals, they looted many cars of the area. Apparently, our car was supposed to be the escape vehicle. But they couldn't get it to run or something, I forgot.

Well, now...thinking back...

I had a similar expirence.

When I was 10, my mom had an Oldsmobile ninety-eight. Ohhh it was luxorious. Very plush.

Anyways after a day at the mall, we discovered a bum in army fatigues sleeping in the front seat. My mom being quick, she called 911. He was arrested, obiously.

Never knew what happened.

dude when i was about 10 or so my mom had a big nice 88. it got broken into twice. the first time they tried to steal the whole car. they broke the stearing column but couldnt get it started cause the battery was dead. haha. but then later on some one stole the stereo out of it. and it was stupid cause they riped up the whole dash. tore out the AC/heater control, and everything there in the dash. left a big gaping hole. just to get the crappy stock stereo. and they couldnt have gotten 5 dollars for it at a pawn shop. i hate thiefs.

And you regularly keep fake car keys in your house?

Actually, for a time we were hoping someone would steal my dads '87 corolla because we'd get more money from insurance than any trade in. Finally last month we bit the bullett and bought an '01 Mazda Protege. It's pretty nice.

Damn that sucks.
The same happened to me, but they didnt steal the car. They did it while I was sleeping. I remembered I heard the alarm, but I was so sleepy to wake up. I shouldnt have done that!!!! The next morning, I look at the window, just to see that they had stolen parts of the car. The stereo system was out, the main console taken out, wires cut, tail lights gone. I am glad they didnt steal the car though. But I was sure pissed. Insurance took care of rebuilding it. The worst thing was that they did while the car was still in the garage.

I got an 86 toyota single cab truck with a 400 watt sound system. I'm somewhat worried whenever I will be leaving it for a long period of time.

In my old Honda Accord I had, they stole the stereo I had in it. It wasn't the stock stereo but some decent aftermarket stuff. They ripped the dash apart and stole the CD player, the amplifier and the subs in a custom built box. Sucked.

I think what happened was I had recently gone to a quick oil change place. I remember that when my car was ready, I was at the counter and the guy that was working on my car was carying on a converstation about stealing cars and car stereo's with the cashier. I really didn't pay much attention to it, but then 2 days later, my car was broken into. Of course I can't prove that this guy was the one that stole my stereo, but just kind of putting a few things together like he was in my car so he knew what I had, he knew where I lived from reading my paper work.

Be careful with that stuff.

Why the honda is called the 30 second car

mt friends honda was stolen, stripped, then burned.

how was it stolen? the person broke in, popped the hood and stuck the dipstick in the ignition. i was stolen within 30 seconds, it was a horrible site

the easy way to stop youtr car gettin nicked. Park a citroen AX 1.4 diesle out the front of the garage and put your car inside the garage.

Also my parents had a (british) C reg (can't be bothered to do the maths) Vauxhall cavalier taht was broken in 3/4 times. But no one was dumb enough to nick it. And my dads 1990 Citroen AX has had the number plates nicked 3 times

what is a 38 magnum?.. unless you mean .357 magnum

and what type of weapon did they have and why did you fiance answer the door???. if that were me i wouldnt have answered or opened the door (unless police) and if they broke in they would have artillery waiting for them

when I was little we went Christmas shopping, me and my family. At the time we had an old Vauxhall Cavalier. We had got my sisters presents and I left my inhaler in the car (being asthmatic) to go the toilet.

Came back. Car nicked.

Problem? We were 20 miles from home and I was without medication. Had to wait 2 hours for relatives to pick us up.

Awful day.

hmm...my dad used to run several convenience stores and had a bunch of cig cartons in the trunk of his 89 caravan. van was stolen, stripped of all parts, burnt to the ground and the thieves were never caught

i got a story, one night me and a friend were at my apt. drinking and my sister in law came over .She was at my house for about a half hour ,and I told my friend "Man you have to see this girls truck lowered to the ground,4 -15inch speakers in a custom box ,all decked out and loud as hell".Well we all walk outside and see the tailgate and topper lid open I said"oh no Mel (my sister in law)someone got in your truck".We all walk up to the truck (it was dark out )and i hear noise from in the cab so I yalled "hey you better get outta there".The next thing you know a guy jumps out of the passangers side door carrying an arm load of amps and head unit and the eq.This guy runs about 15 feet and my friend holding a full beer can thows it at the guy ,hitting him square in the back of the head and knocking him clean on his ass.Perfect shot .Then my friend and I kicked the crap out of him called the cops and had him arrested .The cops told us it wasn't his first time for this .All the stereo equipment was broken due to the fact he cut the grounds before the hot leads and when he fell (due to fling beer can )he dropped the stuff in the dirt.Well thats my stolen stuff story .:)

someone stole my zip zap rc car... i spent over 100 dollars on that.. glowy, turbo engine, every upgrade imaginable.. even drift tires.. my little box got jacked

Had my car broken into twice... right in front of my house around 2 a.m. They were driving up and down my street around 11 or 12 to "case" my car. The first time I guess I was asking for it because it was the first time I had a "good" stereo in my car and I wasn't "discreet" enough I guess. My neighbor had a camera and caught pretty much everything needed to catch the guys. So, I went to the police to give it to them and of course they didn't give a ****. :irked:

The second time was pretty much the same thing only I had an alarm and I set up my car myself to where I thought it would take more time for them get to my stuff. :odd: The funny thing was the first time the amp that I got was 400 watts for 70$ (Jensen sucks ass ) lasted for a good year, right up till about a week before the break in. The second time the speaker box got moisture damage because I had a leak in my trunk ( I had literally 2 - 3 gallons of water in it after one storm :irked: ) Never took my Pioneer head unit though because it was one that had a built in alarm and a red blinking light, pussies...

So, now that my car is in ****ty condition because I don't have the time or money to waste I don't care if anyone breaks into it. There isn't any thing unless they want a headunit with a broken cd player. It's kinda nice now because I don't have to worry about carrying around that damn face plate. :irked:

not me. but my friend left his car uinlocked at the movies last night and came to find his deck, subwoofer and amp gone. I told the idiot to lock his car. anyway I'm looking at adding a new headunit and maybee an audiobahn immortal series woofer. My neighbor has his own shop so It will only run about 300 bucks for everything. (headunit, woofer(s),box, amps, install)
